All hits. No misses…read more Not a single dish that is bad. My favorites include the Bok Choy, Pork Potstickers, and the Pan Fried Pork Buns. Pair that with a massive mango green tea and I walk out satisfied every single time. The place is small, so if you come at the peak hours, there may be a decent wait. On the positive side, the food comes out fairly quick and they are very attentive. They're ready to assist at any moment! There's a reason this restaurant has been here for a long time. And I will be coming here for many more years!

We ordered the spicy beef rice noodle soup, Dan Dan noodle, and popcorn chicken. The spicy beef rice noodle soup was flavorful, noodles were al dente, and veggies were cooked perfectly. The only thing was the meat wasn't super tender but still tasty. The Dan Dan noodle was awesome. After mixing everything up, it was perfectly creamy and just the right amount of spicy. It was maybe a little thick but that's my preference so I enjoyed it! The popcorn chicken was apparently one of their most popular items and it did not disappoint! It was juicy, crunchy, and spicy (I got mild but it still packed a punch). However, I wish they didn't give me so many baby pieces as those were purely fried batter with no chicken. Also, I thought prices were fair as the portion sizes were pretty large. Decent place, I'd definitely come back!

Luyixian is a gem located in the ABC plaza near the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Garfield Avenue. Luyixian serves a variety of soy-based dishes, regional Chinese comfort cuisine, and Zhejiang specialties. Luyixian is mostly known for their braised pork rice and beef noodle soup. The atmosphere there was nice and the staff there were very friendly. Parking can be found either inside the plaza building or underground. I ordered the braised beef rice. The braised beef rice was mouthwatering! It is like a home cooked meal. The braised beef was very tender and juicy. The beef is served with sauteed cabbage, pickled vegetables, hard-boiled egg, and a scoop of rice. The braised beef rice will taste even better when everything on the plate is mixed together. My dish took about 10 minutes to be served, which is quite quick. So far, my first time dining at Luyixian was a great experience! I would definitely recommend this gem to anyone who loves braised pork rice or other Chinese dishes!

Like holy smokes, are the chefs on steroids back there? A salute to their efficiency and time management. Family ordered the Thai fried rice, house special fish fillet, pork chop with Peking sauce, and a tofu dish I do not know the name of. The fish fillet was most definitely running the show here. It was heavenly with every bite. My brother and I had to practically restrain ourselves from demolishing the entire plate. Another deep nod to the chef's magnificent craftsmanship. Order this for a taste of no regrets. The servers were absolutely amazing. For a typical Chinese restaurant, it is pretty standard to be served and for the most part ignored unless you needed something specific. However, the servers here were right in the middle of the horrendous lunch rush, and yet they still managed to carry out gestures that genuinely touched me- one of the waitresses waited at the door and held it open for us when my mom returned from the restroom because they could see that my mom had limited mobility. The guy serving us also made sure he was always giving her ample room to move around amidst all the chaos and commotion of the restaurant. Considering the tables and chairs are inches apart from each other too, we were pretty cramped. I asked another worker for utensils later on, and he was genuinely so sweet going about it, patient and smiling. Service here really warmed my heart, which was such a bonus. The setting was probably the most intriguing part. I am not familiar about the history of this particular location, but considering the walls in the hallway had old newspaper articles and images of the establishment from who knows how many decades ago, I would say it's teetering on the edge of being a museum in itself. Makes for a cool peek into history, but the run down building and yellowing, stained walls in the hallway might throw some people off who are looking to dine somewhere that has kept more in stride with modern times. This visit was fantastic from beginning to end, and all the small details really made everything come together into a wonderful synopsis of food, family, and a little extra kindness.

From the outside, you can't tell the inside has really good space with booths plus tables and chairs, but it does. They weren't super busy at the time... about 5 tables occupied. I was greeted right away by the one server who was working the entire floor. Interior was clean and well lit. Atmosphere was comfortable. Menu has a variety of options... boiled dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, steamed mini buns, stir-fried noodles, regular noodles, rolls & pancakes, side dishes, rice, soup, and beverages. They also have frozen food to-go (just two items... dumplings and dezhou chicken). I got one Steamed Mini Buns (aka Xiao Long Bao), one Stir-Fried Noodles with pork, one Lamb Noodles Soup (with hand torn noodles), and one Jasmine Green Tea with honey. Yes, this seems like a lot of food for one person. I'm not a stranger to bringing food home for another meal. *Steamed Mini Buns - juicy with flavorful pork filling, adequate skin thickness, good size buns *Stir-Fried Noodles with pork - best dish out of the 3, good balance between pork, veggies, and noodles, mild spice level was perfect, portions were reasonable for the price *Lamb Noodles Soup - great amount of lamb and noodles, lamb was tender, noodles were a tad mushy on the edge... they need to be firmer, soup was savory *Jasmine Green Tea with honey - good size cup, tea was a bit bitter, probably needs more honey Food came out steaming hot and timely. Staff and service were wonderful. Yan, the server, was patient and helpful. He did an amazing job working the entire floor by himself. Thank you Yan! Highly recommend this place for their pan-dried and soup noodles. I would come back for more pan-fried noodles and try their pan-fried dumplings. I have had ones in previous visits that the beef was chewy, not tender. You have a choice of regular noodles or hand torn noodles. Hand torn noodles are more filling since the noodles are much thicker than the regular noodles. They are both good. It is a matter of preference. The minced pork with noodles (aka Jia Jiang mien) is also good. For this visit, I did not order dumplings. But their dumplings are usually good. The service is adequate but don't expect good service.

It's not even that small, and the well-lit venue was constantly full-house with another guests coming as some left. Thanks to the attentive service; despite it took awhile to get your orders taken, the foods were ready pretty swiftly. We got their #1 favorite, the Breakfast Plate, serving our choice of eggs, protein, salad, and hash brown. We picked scrambled eggs and medium hanger steak, both of which got us sold to, served in just right texture and very well seasoned. The thick hash brown was pleasingly unique, giving that crispy edge yet soft center. We went extra adding bacon slices and breakfast sausage; both of which worth adding despite being tad pricey.

When I called to make a reservation, the staff explained that the goose dish requires a pre-order and isn't cheap. In fact, the price for half a goose is comparable to ordering a bone-in ribeye steak at a high end steakhouse. However, we are glad we went for it. The goose arrived as a cold cut plate, paired with a special dipping sauce that perfectly balanced the rich, fatty, and flavorful meat. It was my first time having Taiwanese style goose in the US, and it is absolutely worth trying if you have never had it before. The dish also came with a rice noodle soup made with goose oil, which was an excellent bonus. We didn't stop there. From the special lunch menu, we tried the pan fried egg, satay water spinach and lamb, house special braised pork rice, and fried cabbage with egg puff. From the regular menu, we ordered sticky tofu with pork blood cake, steamed cod fish, and sticky rice. The sticky rice was dry and not very flavorful, but everything else hit the spot, especially the mixed pork rice, which was outstanding and highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Taiwanese comfort food. On later visits, we went back for classics like three cup chicken, fried stinky tofu, jalapeño pork, and the Taiwanese cabbage pot. The cabbage pot was a standout, just generous portions, packed with variety, including fish balls, glass noodles, fried pork, and more. Some reviewers mentioned poor service, but our experiences across multiple visits have all been positive. The staff has been attentive, and the prices are very reasonable as long as you stick with the regular menu. Overall, the flavors are authentic, the portions satisfying, the only downside is after eating here I am always feeling thirsty because of MSG, but it won't hurt overall satisfaction and I will definitely keep coming back for more if I am in the area and craving for some Taiwanese cuisine.
