Great customer service, best croissants in town and they make a really good smooth latte.

This is my go-to neighborhood coffee/weekend breakfast spot. You can't go wrong with any of the food items there. My recommendations: 1) Acai Works Bowl - This bowl has ton of acai and all the trimmings. It comes with acai, granola, blue berries, banana and strawberries. If you get it to-go, I would get the granola on the side so it doesn't get soggy when you go home. 2) Turkey Pesto Panini - Generous portion. The turkey and the pesto merge well together with crispy sour dough bread. You also get the option of either a side of chips or salad. 3) So Cal Burrito - This hefty burrito will keep you full all day. I would recommend sharing this or don't expect to get hungry until late at night. They also have free wifi and pretty good coffee. I wouldn't recommend the special iced coffee drinks though. I ordered a lavender honey latte one time and it tasted like pure sugar. I couldn't finish it. You can also opt to sit inside or outside as they have a small patio area in the front to people watch. read more

Breakfast burritos and coffee from here on a very early morning, walking around PB and famished for some classic San Diego breakfast burritos. This place delivered. Excellent coffee and the breakfast burritos hit the spot. I subbed hash browns for the cheese in mine cause I can't do dairy and it was still really delicious! I think the black beans added that "goo" factor that we're all looking for in burritos but can't get without cheese/sour cream. I did find that there were a little bit too much black beans in the burrito for my taste (and first thing in the morning, hellooooo gas ) but I give them 10/10 nonetheless. read more

The coffee shop is in a really nice part of the Bird Rock. The environment and service are pretty cool as well. But you visit the coffee shop, the first expectation is a good-quality coffee. When I first visited Java Earth, I ordered mocha which tasted like a simple cocoa with sugar. Well, I decided to give a try once more, and ordered mexican mocha. It was even more terrible. Very awkward ambiance... walked in to order food & I greeted the girl with a "hi, how are you" & got nothing in return lol. She just stared blankly at me. Then none of the employees, including what seemed to be the owner, knew if any of their items were vegan. Next, my friend brought her own to-go coffee mug and ordered a latte in it; both of the baristas looked at the mug and then at each other with a strange facial expression (like just came in contact with an alien object) & shrugged their shoulders. Java cafe is celebrating their 5 years and it's obvious the locals love this place. I am new to PB and was recommended Java Earth. I recently have been addicted to acai bowls and am on a mission to taste and compare these berry bowl from cafe to cafe. As far as ambiance it's a simple yet adorable ambiance and the staff is busy but really nice. They also are dog friendly inside and out of the building. My friend and I ordered an Acai Works bowl and a soyrizo burrito. The soyrizo burrito is BOMB. If you haven't tried soyrizo before, in my opinion you cannot tell it's not real sausage and has got great flavor with only a fraction of the fat. Swap out the hash browns for black beans and order light or no cheese and you have a decently healthy meal as far as brekky burritos go. The acai bowl was large and about a dollar cheaper than Turquoise Cafe but it was really soupy and kind of warm. Not my favorite acai bowl. We got iced coffees and they were just okay (a little stale) too. 3.5 stars for now with the soupy acai and because a place with "Java" in the title should have better coffee but they do have a lot of other fun breakfast food items (that avocado toast is calling my name!) and drink flavors that I'm wanting to try so I'd definitely come back. read more

I'm only giving this place 4 stars because I haven't tried their food nor coffee yet but their tea latte and customer service was ON POINT. I will be updating my review once I try their food! This is my first time at this cafe and I love the spacious atmosphere and of course my customized tea latte! I am coffee-fasting so I didn't know what to order and the beautiful barista suggested a loose-leaf chai tea latte, which is tea with steamed milk of my choice. She suggested that she likes the loose-leaf more than the original chai tea latte since it's not made of powder and she tastes more of the spice than the sweetness. I was surprised at how honest she was about what chai tea latte is originally made of. So I went with the loose-leaf. And not to mention their tea bag is huge! Although I was bummed not being able to try their delicious coffee that they were offering, I will definitely be back! read more

I live down the street, never knew how big the menu was. Bagels, burritos, breakfast plates, paninis, baked goods. Upon walking in it was very hot inside. They had some fans going and I understand it's probably an old building. There was a fan blowing on all the baked goods. Though they looked good, I probably wouldn't have ordered any pastries. Baristas were busy but they were fast. 10minute-ish wait for 2 drinks and 2 plates of food. Veggie bagel was good, although they ran out of bagels so I got mine on toast, just as good. Soy chorizo burrito was good also, can't really go wrong with a burrito. read more

I had the acai works and the spicy turkey panini at Java Earth. The acai works was standard and nothing special. It was overpriced for what it was. The spicy turkey panini was good, but the chips served with it was somewhat stale. However, the ambiance is pleasant with a lot of natural sunlight. Cute inside and outside but the setup of where the sugar/spoons/napkins is awkward when there's a long line and people waiting for their food or drinks. I only had the acai bowl and was really disappointed, especially given how much it cost. I ordered the "acai works" bowl and it was ready really fast, which was surprising. Turns out it's not good for it to be ready fast: the acai base was barely blended (it was mostly chunks of frozen acai), completely bland, and the bowl itself had more granola than acai. I'm hoping their other menu items are better but do not come here for an acai bowl. You'll be disappointed and left eating a bowl of mainly granola -_- read more

I've been coming here for years, and there is no better place to hang in PB if you're looking for great coffee, excellent and friendly service, and tasty and affordable eats. My favorite dishes include the avocado toast, the Mediterranean breakfast sandwich, and the tuna melt, all for under ten bucks! If you're a road warrior in need of fast and reliable wifi, they have that too. Indoor seating can get pretty cramped during peak hours, but there is also plenty of space outside for people watching and soaking up that warm California sun. There are lots of similar cafes on Cass Street, but Java Earth takes the cake in my book! read more

Really don't know what to say about this place. The only positive thing is, it's roomy and a good place to study or have convos with people. The outside is dope, but i couldn't get around the customer service. Im all for supporting local coffee shops, I cant stand Starbucks and how they roast their beans ,so I always encourage people to try out spots around them. I walked in, and this customer walks in front of me and the employees totally witnessed it, or at least I thought they did and no one said anything lol, I had to go to work so I didn't want to make a scene, I stood quiet and it looks like they knew him because they called him by name, a regular I suppose. It was my turn and the girl in the front went from happy (because she knew the guy) to like whatever with me, to me, you have to keep the same energy..ummm Its a coffee shop man!! If you're tired, take a shot!! I ordered a Vanilla Ice Latte. Key word is "Ice" like cold. I get the drink, walk outside and take a sip. Crap was warmer then my toast in the morning smh. This place has so much potential given its location, but the service is piss poor. For a while, I assumed I had just caught a barista on a bad day, but it's a pattern. This is the best avocado toast in all of greater San Diego area HANDS DOWN! I am an avocado toast super fan, I've literally gone everywhere on yelp in SD that says they have it, and this is the BEST! They actually give you enough avocado so you feel nourished, and they have the gluten free option for the bread. Go with the "supreme" if you like tomatoes and arugula, but if you get it plain it's still bomb too. I come here for the toast and the BEST dirty chai. read more

Saying I am disappointed in what this place has become would be an understatement. Years ago I gave this place a glowing 5 star review b/c the service was so good now I'm sad to see it has gone downhill. I used to live right next to it for many years and would frequent it as a regular, the food was great, the vibe was great and the service USED TO BE awesome! I haven't been back in about two years and went this past Sunday (Easter Sunday for hells sake) and was beyond disappointed in the customer service. The two girls working behind the counter were so incredibly rude to every customer that came in and looked as though they hadn't showered and hung-over or just bitter to be there (heaven forbid they are EMPLOYED in a beautiful beach city serving happy beach people). The baristas working the front were BOTH very snotty and short with every customer to the point I thought it was a hidden camera prank or something. When ordering I even asked the blonde girl taking our order what she recommended and very rudely she said "I don't know, just whatever" ... In fact, even while sitting outside I overheard almost every customer leaving comment on how rude the employees were. Coffee shops are meant to have a friendly welcoming environment with happy people let alone employees that SMILE. Anywho' I'll probably still visit this place on occasion b/c of the nostalgia I have for it, I just hope the customer service improves dramatically in which case I will gladly re-review. Overall.... I come here almost every time I'm in PB. They have great barista's choice drinks, which are always fun to try. I usually get the cafe vanilla- perfect amount of sweetness and coffee. Try the pitaya bowl instead of the acai bowl--it's a bit sweeter and just as healthy. Apparently, they donate to breast cancer research every time you buy it. Also tried the PB bagel the other day. When my roommate and I first moved to PB we decided to start trying every coffee place in our area. Our first trip just so happened to be to Java Earth! The customer service was neither here nor there. I don't recall warm feelings or harsh feelings of disgust. The person behind the register wasn't really all that friendly just more matter a fact. When I try new places I like to ask what they recommend and apparently her only recommendation if you could call it that was "I don't know. What do you want?"...... So basically I got myself an iced coffee and ordered a Lox bagel and moved along. The Lox bagel was good and the iced coffee wasn't bad either but nothing exceptional. The outside seating area is nice and I enjoyed people watching but the reality is that there are so many places in PB with delicious coffee and a majority of them with more pleasurable customer service. read more
