Looking for a great dining experience to take my daughter for her Birthday tonight and was so disappointed. We made reservations for 5:45 PM and were seated right way but on the end of the wall going into the kitchen so all the wait staff had to pass by us. It was so very busy and loud even though we sat close to each other we could not hear what was being said . We had to ask for everything even a page out of my menu. The best thing of my $45.00 Prime Rib dinner was the garlic mashed potatoes. I ordered med rare and received rare sent back and received almost the same thing but it was COLD. My daughter had a plate of noodles and sauce with 2 large shrimp 2 small shrimp and 2 scallops not exactly a Seafood platter. Use to be a great dining place but I will not be going back nor recommending to anyone. read more

Wow wow wow. You walk in and it's very old school. Music is playing from a CD which just adds to the overall steakhouse vibe. Service was extremely fast. I got the duck breast and my fiancé got the prime rib. The duck was cooked to perfection and the soup of the day was to die for! The prime rib was also cooked perfectly. Highly, highly recommend. I went to Jagz, for the first time with a group of friends after over 10 years of living in Kalispell. I read the reviews and all the hype about what a great restaurant this was to go to. The steaks, the seafood was supposed to be amazing. However, the service that was provided was subpar, the food took an inordinate amount of time to receive our main course. The food was less than ideal, the prime rib had no taste, I would expect something of this caliber to be served at a chain restaurant and the vegetables provided with the meal were a disgrace, less than a palm sized portion. There was not any seasoning or anything that remotely stood out about this meal. The waitress/manager was beyond rude and disparaging toward our table. Some of the members were overcharged on their meal, after pointing out the waitress/managers lack of professionalism. I can honestly say, I will never patron this establishment again, and pass on a word of caution to the next who would like to try a nice meal. read more

The valley's best restaurant...WOW! If you like ribs service "cold", a Rib-Eye steak ordered medium service so tough that their knives have a hard time cutting, then this is the place for you! I asked to talk with the manager. When I spoke with the manager (GM) the GM, I was told they could re-heat the ribs and re-service them (and I asked prior to ordering the ribs if the ribs fell off the bone and was told yes, they do). I was told the ribs are "pre-cooked and re-heated"! The ribs were already over cooked, not falling off any bone, and who knows when they were in fact cooked! The GM then informed me that I would be credited back the price of the ribs, but charged for the potato, 6 very small pieces of vegetables, and the salad...but would also be charged for the over-cooked rib-eye. I then was verbally attacked by the GM for my displeasure of the food that was serviced us and that I was dis-respectful! WOW... My only sadness in this review is that our waitress was great as was the other staff members that we had the pleasure in meeting. The GM and the quality of food serviced at JAGZ prices was terrible! I acknowledge there's a shortage in workers due to the pandemic, so slower service is a problem everywhere, But the quality of attitude and food served goes a long way. Having been a very satisfied customer in the past, even having our church Christmas party there one year, I was shocked at our visit last night. Both the food and service were lackluster and bland. Even received items we had declined. Our bill was over $100, so I called to speak to a manager named Roberto who was indignant, defensive and rude. As a "manager" Totally unacceptable. Your locals should be more important than that Jagz. You didn't just lose my family, you lost and entire congregation. That's how it works when you crap on your fan base. Good luck. Jagz, the place to go to get hit on by older men... I mean, can you blame them? With prime rib like that, Joe Biden could rub my shoulders and I wouldn't care. The horseradish has flare, the prime rib is full of flavor and tender, and the au jus is warm and not too salty... A perfect bite. Roberta was our lovely server - she kept the wine coming, and was good company. The rumors are true, the caesar salad is wet, and the fish and sauce needed salt (and I never ever put salt on food when I out!)... However, I was able to eat a decent amount of my husband's prime rib and as many fresh tasty rolls as I wanted. I'll be back for the prime rib and the shoulder rub. read more

Our group of six people was looking to eat supper outdoors anywhere in the Kalispell/Whitefish area. Sadly, we couldn't find a good restaurant that would take a reservation for an outdoor table on a Wednesday night so we decided to try Jagz since they reassured us that the tables were well-spaced to feel safe. This was important to us given the low vaccination rate in the county. While we were a little nervous about eating inside, they did a good job of giving us a table way in the corner that made us feel more relaxed. That said, our overall experience was a bit disappointing. The interior is pretty dated and the attempt to cheer it up with white Christmas lights falls short. The menu is very traditional -- somewhat of a throwback but not in a good way. The food was just ... ordinary, nothing special. The two people who got the day's fish special both reported that it was "slimy" which caused them to not finish it. To be clear, the food overall wasn't bad -- it just wasn't good enough for us to want to go back. On a very positive note, our server was wonderful. I have been to Jagz a few times before and usually ordered the Prime Rib, which I recall to be both flavorful and well prepared. However that was some time ago and when we went this time with my parents and sister who were visiting from out of town, I would have to say I was very disappointed. Both my sister and I ordered the prime rib. Both were overcooked for what we ordered, medium and medium rare, and the flavor was just so-so. My father's steak was also overcooked. The server did offer to replace the dishes, but we declined, so that is on us. But looking back over recent reviews shows that our experience is not unique. It's too bad as my family was excited to try this great steak place in Montana and came away with a marginal experience. I will say that my wife and daughter's steaks were prepared well, so that was nice, but there is obviously something going on with the meal preparation that makes we not wanting to come back unless I see some glowing reviews. read more

Service was not too bad, as the girl was attentive and responsive. We paid for a whole bottle of red wine - 2019 "Woop Woop" which we looked up later, The food is where they lose major points... Went here with my husband and our friend. Our friend, who dines out a lot, ordered the "evening special" sea bass. After his meal he mentioned he did not think it was sea bass. My husband ordered the prime rib, and had to wrestle with it the entire meal. The restaurant steak knife was not sharp enough, and the prime rib was grisly. I ordered the shrimp scampi, which was extremely lackluster. The sauce only had a tangy, slightly creamy flavor and was bland otherwise. The shrimp itself was not sweet, flavorful, or creamy. We are much better off dining at home. The pasta it was served with was mushy, sadly. We had high hopes for this place having seen the pictures. Disappointing meal overall for the high prices. Jagz is a very nice fine dining restaurant. A quieter atmosphere and a little more professional; however, you don't have to get dressed up if you don't want to. The filet was great as well as the salad and sides. My only complaint was that our server was very hard to get a hold of and a couple people at the table had to go get him for the additional things we needed. Was in Montana for vacation and every single place we went on our 5 day trip was absolutely amazing to where we are even considering moving there! Anyways, we wanted to go to a nice dinner on our last night and trust me when I say we would of been better off eating hot dogs in a truck-stop bathroom. The food was absolutely not worth the price point, the lobster was the grossest thing I have ever had! What's worse than the food here (didn't think it was possible) is THE SERVICE!!!! OHHHH MYYY GOODNESS! They were not busy at all and it was like waiting for paint to dry! Never got water refills had to hunt down someone to help us after such a long time and when we did ask for help they were rude. Conclusion is that this must be only (or one of few) "fine dining" places in area so winner by default. Food was marginal to poor. Chicken was completely dried out and tasteless. Sides were, again, okay but far from "fine dining" quality. On other end of spectrum, the Cabernet on special was very good selection, especially at price. Service was "in progress" = all young staff just learning or trying to hone service skills. Nice but far from "fine dining" level elsewhere. Atmosphere best described by M R. "Diner style steak place frequented by locals." Full with even a 1/2-hour wait during off peak weeknight dinner hours which was quickly explained once inside dining area - tables of large groups of locals visiting over a leisurely dinner. Could use a remodel refresh once they decide whether they want to be true fine dining or comfortable local steakhouse. (Either a respectable choice, but pick one and make it the best possible) In retrospect, we could have ordered steak and seafood as these are their heavily advertised specialties in order to truly rate the food. However, given the quality of the lesser menu offerings we received, we're glad we didn't risk the $$. I would leave no stars! My girlfriend pulled 3 hairs out of her mouth in front of our server. He replaced her pasta and we tried hard to enjoy our meal. We just couldn't quite find our appetites again, when the bill arrived 115 dollars I asked our server for a simple 20% discount which I would forward towards a tip. He explained he witnessed her pull the hair out of her mouth but the manager refused the discount! Instead tried to comp us a terrible dessert, macadamia nut cheese cake, which we didn't eat. At this point I again asked for a simple 20% discount which was refused again. I refused to pay the bill because it was a horrible experience and they offered to call the cops which I gladly accepted. Probably one of the nicest restaurants in town that serves steak, seafood and pasta. Ribeye is tender and nicely prepared. The pork ribs melt off the bone. The fettuccine sauce is outstanding and tastes a lot better than your average pasta dish. The crab cakes are pretty good but don't expect large lumps of lobster or crab meat. Easily one of the best places for steak and seafood in the Flathead valley. Jagz is an old restaurant very close to Glacier Park International Airport. The decor is definitely dated and the service can be a little bit slow, but the food is excellent. The prices are very reasonable, and I think it's a great value. I've had the both the clams and the mussels as appetizers, and both are delicious. The fresh bread is also delicious, and perfect for dipping into the wine sauce that the clams or mussels are swimming in. For meats, I have had the bison filet and the prime rib. The bison filet was packed full of flavor, but was a little bit on the dry side. The prime rib was served with a side of au jus and horseradish, and was extremely tender and delicious. For seafood accompaniment, I have had both the lobster tail and the king crab legs. Both are absolutely delicious, and served with clarified butter. I could have gotten a better steak at apple bees - The waitress/manager was not the nicest. The way that she spoke to our group was more of a " I don't have time for this" not a "How can we fix this so your experience is better for the future" -- I can honestly review that this is a place I will never go again. The Buffalo filet mignon was excellent, more than what we could eat, but most people will be able to finish the hearty 9 oz steak. Desserts were amazing- gotta try the carrot cake and the mud pie! Took my daughter there last night for dinner. There was 5 of us. We sat there for 40 minutes and was never waited on. They were not short staffed. Wanted a good steak dinner. The restaurant was about 50% occupied. We were seated at a table so small that there was no room for menus plates glasses etc. we had to stack things on top of each other. There were at least nine other tables around us that were empty and larger sized. We asked if we could be placed at a larger table and were told no that those tables were reserved. We also had reservations and I had asked for a larger table when making that reservation. We were told that we could not be moved due to all those tables being reserved. We were at the restaurant until closing and only one of the tables were used that night. This is one of those places I've driven by for years and never gone to. The name is kinda weird, the exterior seems dated and coming from a place that does seafood exceptionally well, I'm hesitant of any place this far inland promoting sea creatures of any kind. It was also weird to me that I had never met anyone who had ever gone here. But after years of curiosity we finally bit the bullet and made a reservation a few days before Christmas, despite there being a rash of bad reviews on here. We thought worst case scenario we'd have a bad meal and we'd know that we had always been right to skip this place. But we were pleasantly surprised by our experience! The service was exceptional. We made reservations but still had to wait a few minutes because tables weren't turning fast. However, the host got us drinks while we waited. Once seated the wait staff was super friendly and responsive. We ordered shrimp cocktail (can't screw that up) and steak. I'm not a steak guy generally but it was really good. Not worth the $$. We went there tonight for my birthday. I had never been there before. We had the worst table in the whole place. People passing us constantly & the hostess kept swearing when she was next to us. My mother's menu was missing a page. Her prime rib was too rare so she sent it back. When she got it back it was cold. I was told that if I left the fish out of my pasta I'd have more seafood. I had 2 large & small shrimp & scallops so I would have had 1 of each had I got the fish on the side?? We were told that we would get bread when we sat down but got hard rolls after our salads once we asked for them. We paid for 4 wines but got only 3. A gal came to collect a cc before we even got our to go box & we paid with cash so we didn't need her. When I told the hostess that our spot was awful she said that I should have asked for a better one when I made the reservation. How would I have known that when I'd never been there before? when we arrived the front entrance was closed due to water pipes broke, small sign directed us to go thru the bushes on the side of the building. It was icy and no lights. When we were seated 1st thing we notice that our water glasses were filthy and our appetizer plates where greasy on the freshly set up table. It took us asking and almost an hour to get bread and water. The salads were not good. appetizers were ok. The meal was terrible, The filet Mignon was like a pre packaged steak wrapped in bacon it was so red and tough I could not eat it. the veggies were cold. My scallops were in a weird sauce that tasted like Lipton onion dry soup mix. Our reservation was at 7 and we did not get our meal until 9:30. Many people were up & leaving due to the poor service from our server. The hostess told us she was actually the janitor . We got lucky and got to sit by the fire because there was no heat working! Only small space heaters in the back room. I felt bad for all the ladies in dresses. BRRR! This has always been my favorite place to eat. Sorry to say I wont be going back. We have been here several times through the years; for our wedding anniversary, for our staff Christmas party, and with friends and family. The atmosphere is really nice and we love to be seated near the fireplace. The wait staff is excellent and the food and wine is menu is very good. We always make a reservation and are seated promptly. The wait staff is on it and it is never a long wait to receive your plate. The bread is really good and comes to your table very warm as you wait for your food. The salad is cold and crisp (sign of a great, attentive place), and the dressing selections are yummy. The menu is extensive from prime rib, steaks, pork chops, seafood, fresh fish specials and some Italian favorites. The chef really knows how to cook and does an excellent job. But I understand that it is being sold to new owners? I hope not. It's a consistent restaurant in service, selection, and taste. We've never ever been disappointed here. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here for my birthday dinner and we both left full and happy! We ordered and split the New York strip and the shrimp scampi angel hair pasta. The strip we ordered medium, it was a little on the medium rare side but still tasted great! The pasta had an incredible flavor and I wish I could have ate more of it. They gave me a free mud pie for dessert, so good. It is on the pricier side but it was money well spent! I would make a reservation because they fill up fast! read more

Very nice wine selection ( we are from California and we are used to fine wine...sort of!) and the prices are very reasonable. The steaks are the hot tip! We had the ribeye and the filet. Our server, Jonathan, was a really great waiter and a hard worker. Even though he told us he isn't old enough to drink he either answered all our wine questions or found someone who could. Montana is filled with charm and wonderful food and we were treated to all of that at Jagz. If we are ever back in Kalispell, Jagz is on our list for fine dining! read more
