Chicken Alla Vodka, entree was very good, nice mushroom sauce. There's also a basket of bread with butter that comes with the meal.

My daughter lives in Whitefish and I came to visit her. She mentioned having dinner at Abruzzo Italian Kitchen. We decided to split our meal, and we ordered the Chicken Alla Vodka with mushrooms. We split the dish since we weren't super hungry which was perfect. The entree was very good and would order it again. The decor inside is very quaint and welcoming. The service was very good .

Wow! I'm visiting from NY and we know Italian...this place is fabulous! I had the fig cocktail (how often do you see that on a menu?), the beets and blue cheese salad (absolutely stunning), and the wild boar tagliatelle bolognese...fantastic. What was equally fabulous was my server, Hannah: she was so gracious, attentive, and hospitable. Will definitely visit this place again the next time I visit this beautiful part of the world.

Very nice Chianti we had with dinner

Amazing food! Great service! Atmosphere was nice and inviting and the space deceptively large despite what appeared to be a small entry--very cool! The Wild Boar Ragu was delicious, tasty, and the home made pappardelle pasta was superb. It is always good to make a reservation to ensure a seat!

This was one of my favorite restaurants to dine at during my trip to Whitefish. We made a reservation in advance for dinner on Sunday, and I'm glad we did since it was packed even though the restaurant is pretty big. We parked at the parking garage a block away and walked over to the restaurant. We had a large, comfortable booth that had a view of the pizza oven. The restaurant is dark and cozy inside. Our party split the local greens as well as the cauliflower starter. Everyone loved the cauliflower dish more, even though the local greens dish wasn't bad either. For my entree, I ordered the Rigatoni All'Amatriciana but I also tried the Roasted Chicken risotto. Honestly, these two dishes worked so well together. I liked my pasta dish, but the risotto was so creamy and the flavor was awesome.

What a wonderful Italian spot in downtown Whitefish! We've heard it gets quite busy but were able to get seated immediately at 515pm on a Monday - but by the time we left, they were definitely on a wait list. We started with two cocktails - which were delicious and refreshing after a day of hiking. Then for appetizers, we started with the elk tartar and the crab and tomato salad. The elk tartar was exceptional - hearty, salty and such fun treat. The crab was okay - but the star of that show was the heirloom tomatoes. They were so vibrant, flavorful and clearly very fresh. For entrees, we split the wild boar ragu and the gnocchi special - which was truffle. The ragu was truly the best - it was hearty, flavorful and tasted like it had been cooking all day. The gnocchi was great as well - they actual gnocchi was a bit big for me, but I like that it was also pan seared to have a bit more texture. The truffle of course was decadent. Our server, Eliska, was great! I would highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a nice dinner in Whitefish.

Service was outstanding. Our sever was excellent. The star of the show was the gnocci. So fluffy and then toasted to give it that perfect texture. The pesto was rockstar. The veal chop was massive and sitting atop a bed of rigatoni. It was a tad salty, so some more marinara sauce would have been nice, but it was still very tasty.

We came back--and we're so glad we did! I was really excited to try their homemade pasta since we missed out on it during our first visit. It absolutely lived up to the hype--nothing beats fresh, homemade pasta, and the sauce was incredibly flavorful and unique, definitely not your standard red sauce. This time we went for the special Bone-In Ribeye instead of the strip, and it did not disappoint! We also had the local greens again (not pictured), which were just as fresh and delicious as we remembered. So happy we returned--everything was just as amazing the second time around!

We made a reservation but then sat at the bar anyway (it's just who we are) everything was great! It is super popular so I highly recommend a reservation. We split everything which was a brilliant idea. They do charge a $4 split plate fee but it comes already split for you which is great (I mean otherwise what am I paying for?) but everything was so great! We loved it all. The handmade pasta is so good.

Great food and great atmosphere. We came hungry and it did not disappoint. I got the spaghetti and meatballs and my wife got the mushroom chicken dish. Both were very good. The server was very knowledgeable of the menu, which had great options and apparently everything is made from scratch. It was very hard for me to choose what I wanted but they made some good recommendations. If I was back in town or a local, I would frequent this place.

I'm torn writing this review. This restaurant is very very good. It's just one thing that bothered me. One dish actually. First the good thing is that they are a scratch kitchen. All the pastas and sauces are handmade. The server made a point to mention this. The pizzas are also completely handmade in a separate kitchen. The server made a point to mention that if pizzas and pastas are ordered together they may come out at slightly different times. My problem is with the gnocchi. They advertise it as a special dish. I asked if the gnocchi is made in house. He said yes. Unfortunately they also freeze them. Freshly made gnocchi should be slightly airy and pillowy soft. These weren't. And honestly didn't taste dramatically better than store bought gnocchi. The portion was also tiny. What saved it was the obviously freshly made pesto sauce. I brought this to the attention of the waiter and he admitted they do freeze them. It would have been nice to comp a dessert or something. In retrospect I should have sent it back and got something else. My other gripe is $8 for "bread service". I didn't get it. Maybe the bread was incredible. The reason why I'm overlooking these issues was that everything else was amazing. The Mushroom Tagliatelle with Chicken at $28 was incredible. And the main reason I'm overlooking their gnocchi shortcoming was the kid's meals. For only $9 my daughter got the meatball spaghetti which was excellent. Meatballs were homemade and the spaghetti was also homemade. Huge portion also. Basically 2/3 the regular menu portion at less than half the cost. As a result I'd say this is the best place in Whitefish for kids meals. For dessert we got the homemade corn ice cream with huckleberry topping. It was excellent.

Very busy spot on a Sunday night! Luckily they had a spot in the back bar area so as a solo diner I was able to be seated immediately, otherwise I'd recommend getting a reservation. The bartender was very attentive despite being busy. I had an old fashion, baguette for an app, and the traditional bolognese. The fresh made pasta and sauce was very good. The downfall to me is having to pay for just a basic bread starter but clearly people like me still order despite having to pay. It's just nice to have a bit of bread to go with some Italian food, if you ask me. If I'm in the area again, definitely recommend and would return

    David L.

For the food, I'd give it an overall rating of 8/10, or 4 stars. They charged $8 for bread, which is quite stingy...very few restaurants charge for it. And the $8 bread quality was no better than the complimentary bread served at other Italian restaurants.

Basically NO. There may be one possibly two things that you could have them modify, but it would not be worth it.

We ordered the Tot-chos (half order to share among six people) and I also got a huckleberry soda for myself as well as the bison (classic) burger with sweet potato fries. For dessert, we shared two scoops of huckleberry ice cream (from Sweet Peaks), the bread pudding and the beignets. I loved the Tot-chos, and the half order was honestly a pretty big size already! The huckleberry soda was pretty sweet (I think it had 41 grams of sugar), but I don't regret trying it. The bison burger wasn't bad, it definitely tasted similar to beef, but it was a huge burger so I couldn't finish it. The sweet potatoes were also delicious. In terms of the dessert, I had gone to Sweet Peaks already and liked their huckleberry flavor a lot, so I was excited to see them on the menu. People at my table loved the bread pudding. I thought the beignets were not bad, but they weren't as good as the other desserts.

Overall, this place was a mix of really impressive food and a few frustrating misses. Ratings * Food: 4.2/5 * Service: 4.5/5 * Atmosphere: 3/5 * Value: 3.5/5 * Overall: 4/5 The Bad First: Chips & Salsa I have to start here because it honestly bothered me. You simply do not charge for chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. I don't care how modern eclectic and edgy you think you are. Chips and salsa are basically humanity's welcome gift from Latino culture. Charging $6.50 for them immediately sets expectations high -- and unfortunately, this was the weakest part of the entire meal. Both the regular salsa and the tomatillo salsa were muddy-looking and lacked freshness or brightness. The dominant flavor was artificial smoke. No heat, no freshness, no punch. Honestly, even if they had been complimentary, I still would've thought they missed the mark. Please -- forget the pineapple infusions and overthought concepts. Just make a fresh pico de gallo, a great roasted salsa, and a genuinely good hot sauce. Make THAT your signature and your gift to Whitefish. The Good Stuff Now the good news: the actual entrées were excellent. The Chile Relleno was fantastic -- honestly one of the best I've had anywhere. Perfect texture, rich flavor, and clearly made with care. The tacos were also exceptional. I believe the beef taco was the barbacoa, and it absolutely stood out. I was dining with my parents, both in their 70s, and every entrée at the table was a hit. Service Our waiter Jake was excellent. He was juggling several tables at once but stayed attentive, friendly, and accommodating the entire evening. The hostess was also terrific -- greeted us warmly and seated us immediately. Most of the staff seemed genuinely kind and professional, although one bartender came across noticeably cold and uptight. No smile, very little interaction beyond taking orders and dropping off drinks. Atmosphere & Music I usually avoid reading reviews before posting my own, but afterward I noticed many people mentioned the music -- and I completely agree. It's not just that it's too loud. It's the wrong vibe entirely. The music selection feels more nightclub than relaxed cantina. Good restaurant music should create warmth and energy in the background, not dominate the room. The place itself is attractive and lively, and I was impressed by how busy it was for a Monday night. Bonus points for having hockey on during the playoffs. Final Thoughts This isn't traditional Mexican food, despite some of the branding language about authenticity and traditional ingredients. It feels more like someone's modern interpretation or fusion-inspired version of Mexico. That said -- the kitchen clearly knows how to cook. The entrées were genuinely impressive, and the service was very solid. Fix the salsa. Stop charging for it. Improve the music. Do those three things, and this place goes from "good" to "destination-level." I'll absolutely give it another try this summer. And yes, my mother was Mexican. I grew up on this stuff and have traveled the world having various Mexican concepts.
