    Elk meatball appetizer

UPDATE: Much better on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. :). I would go here again. (For my Thanksgiving review see my original post below in this field - I had rated Thanksgiving as 3-stars). Tonight we had drinks, appetizers, and shared entrees. Drinks: Home on the Range, Double Margarita (Featured drink), and the Blood Moon Margarita. All the drinks were really good. Not one disappointed. (4.5 to 5 stars) Appetizers: wings!!! Shrimp cocktail and elk meatballs. All were really good. Wings were ordered with the dry rub and were some of the best I have ever had. (Pictured below). (4.5 to 5 stars) Dinner: wagyu burger and wild game ragu. The burger was really good with double fried fries (4-star). The ragu was also really good (4 stars). I felt the portions were appropriate - not heavy sized portions. Ambiance: There was music tonight and a lot of people. The music was a little loud for us, but the songs were really enjoyable. :). (4.5 stars) Service: Excellent. (5 stars) Again, we were there on Thanksgiving for two meals. I did a 3-star for that day. This evening was a 4.5 star night. I'll rate it 5 (rounding up). I would definitely come back again. ORIGINAL POST: We had brunch on Thanksgiving and then the Thanksgiving buffet. We chose to do this after what I would have rated as a 5-star experience in 2020. This time, I am doing a 3-star rating. I would be interested to try this place again, but am rating this 3 stars mainly for the quality of the food on our visit on this one day. Had it not been for the 5-star service, I would have rated 2 stars. Brunch: My wife ordered an avocado toast. It arrived with an egg that was cool to the touch and avocado that had oxidized (started turning brown). We sent it back and did not request a second attempt. :(. 0 stars I had eggs Benedict that came out warm with the poached eggs cooked all the way through. :(. I was hungry and not interested in sending it back for a second attempt (I shared my serving with my wife who sent back the avocado toast.). 2-stars Someone in our party had yogurt - that came out tasting good. 3-stars Another person ordered eggs and bacon - those were ok. 3-stars And one other person ordered the Montana omelette, which was good and would have earned 4-stars on its own. 4-stars We had good coffee and then coffee with Irish whiskey (both 4 stars). Brunch service was good. (5-stars). Atmosphere was really nice in the dining room. (5-stars) Thanksgiving Buffet: Lots of choices. I did prefer the food we had in 2020. I would consider trying the buffet again, but would have preferred to have sat in the dining room than a conference room with the white fold up chairs (2 stars). Service was really good (5+ stars). At the end of the day, we enjoyed time with family. (10++ stars). :)

We made a reservation here for dinner with our bachelorette group and had a wonderful experience. Our server, Stacy, was an absolute doll. The drinks and food were amazing, I would recommend for any special occasion!

Is this the fanciest restaurant in all of Whitefish? Is worth it? Yes and yes? Located inside the wonderful historic Lodge at Whitefish Lake hotel, the restaurant has a warmly lit elegant and romantic atmosphere...too bad I didn't bring the wife! Service was friendly and attentive all around. $18 Smoked Trout Cakes...smoky, tasty, and comforting! A lovely local twist on the traditional crab cake. $58 12oz Bison Ribeye in a buttery huckleberry demi glace sauce...or was it 16oz? Seemed so, it was so big! Thick, juicy, and tender...I savored every bite of meaty happiness. $10 Huckleberry Mudpie...Chocolate and huckleberry go so well together, they should get married! In a mudpie! The extra twist with the local huckleberries made this extraordinary! $27 on two glasses of wine for myself. $113...like most Americans, I can't afford to spend that much on dinner on regular basis, but I can treat myself once in a while. Even better that my friend picked up most the check!

I really liked this restaurant and it's in a beautiful hotel with a large roaring fireplace and welcoming lobby. The restaurant has a large and beautiful bar area with a heated patio overlooking the water - they also have a more formal dining area which is quieter with huge windows overlooking the water and a small, private balcony. We ordered a Cobb salad, house chips, and split the trout entree. All were wonderful and my husband commented that the Cobb was perhaps the best he's ever had. I had seen online their Huckleberry fudge ice cream pie so we got that with coffee as our dessert and moved in front of the fireplace to enjoy it. Our waitress was friendly and efficient and we never waited long for anything. Prices were higher but fair for the ambiance and service and quality. Absolutely would come back in an instant for a nice date night here for dinner or brunch. My only complaint is that we liked the view at the bar better - but were told we couldn't order from the main menu. Fine, but then told if we sat at the bar we could order from either the bar menu or the restaurant (mind you it's like 15 steps and an open space into the kitchen you can see between both). I wanted trout which was only on the restaurant menu - but wanted to sit at a high-top at the bar area instead of the loud bar. Eventually we asked the bartender who said it wouldn't be an issue at all... weird. Not the first place that said this to us.

I really wanted to eat at the top of Whitefish Mountain but this being the end of the summer season, most of the dining options were not open. So we drove down the mountain to the Lodge at Whitefish Lake. There is a beautiful rustic western comfort and elegance to the lodge and restaurant, and the dining room faces out to Whitefish Lake. The early evening sun was streaming through the windows and just about ready to set. Tempting though it sounded, I skipped the bread service at $10 and chose the Caesar salad which was pretty standard. I ordered the Ora King Salmon which was cooked well (the chef recommended medium and I agreed but the fish was cooked well) though it tasted delicious. It was served with a frisée with a mix of raisins, apples, apple Jack brandy. I did not understand the pile of lemon walnut dust that was piled next to the frisée. My companion ordered the Filet Mignon, a Montana wagyu with brown butter mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was nicely cooked and tender although they had to ask the staff for a knife. For dessert we ordered the huckleberry mud pie. It was a towering confection of an Oreo crust, mild tasting huckleberry ice cream with a chocolate sauce and whipped cream with blackberries. It would have been improved with a chocolate ganache, instead of what tasted like Hersheys syrup, and real whipped cream. Overall, our meal was good but it could have been amazing, especially in that setting and with that view. The crackling fire as we waited for our car felt heavenly.

This restaurant was located at the lodge in whitefish. We made reservations here after spending the day at their spa for a couples massage. The service was good. The food was eh-okay. We were really hoping for a nice steak dinner here and was unfortunately disappointed. We ordered the bison ribeye with mashed potatoes and veggies and elk tenderloin (added a couple scallops) that came with potato fingerlings and veggies. My bison ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium but didn't have much flavor, the mashed potatoes were the best part. The elk tenderloin was suppose to be cooked to a medium and came out well done and had no flavor at all. The scallops were the saving grace for that meal and it was an add on. We had drinks down at the bar by the pool which was good and asked if we could have the same drinks up at the restaurant but they didn't have the same stuff so that was a bummer. We sat outside which was nice to be able to look at the lake view. Overall, wouldn't recommend the boat club if you are looking for a "nice/fancy" steak dinner.

Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is high end resort. This place certainly did not disappoint. We started with a couple of cocktails, the wife had a "Summer Melon + Cucumber Highball", that was as unique as it was refreshing. Cucumber flavored ingredients, and a paper thin slice of cucumber as a garnish. She liked it so much, she had two! I had a Cosmo, that had too much lime juice and not enough Grand Marnier / Triple Sec, and it was small. I had the Elk Loin entree, which was prepared skillfully and presented beautifully. The dish included fingerling potatoes, parsnips, mushrooms, huckleberries, and a berry glaze. Elk is similar to lamb in texture and color, and the flavor is like a cross between beef and lamb, and it's texture is just a little tougher than sirloin. Fantastic! The wife had the Vegetable Primavera (redundantly named) with pappadel, also prepared and presented beautifully. We moved to the bar area for dessert, even though our server Lesha was fantastic and we didn't want to leave her orbit! At the bar, we split the Raspberry Lemon Mousse Cake, which was the perfect choice to split as it came in two pieces. I also had two Keoke coffees, because the coffee was very high quality, as was our server at the bar, Dylan. I rarely give such high praise to places this expensive, but this place delivers the goods, and I'd certainly come back here soon!

This restaurant was located in the Lodge at Whitefish. There was complimentary valet or you can self park across the street. The ambiance was very classy with light jazz playing throughout the space. The waterfront views were beautiful and the best part about this place. -Montana omelet (5/5): Exactly what we wanted! This was our first time trying elk and it was well seasoned and not gamey at all! -French toast with huckleberry (4/5): Perfect flavor - we wanted to try fresh huckleberries and it was so good! We just wished you didn't have to pay additional for having any kind of flavor to your toast. -Buttermilk pancakes with huckleberry (4/5): The texture was super soft and the huckleberry was super yummy! Beware the price has been increased by 2x (I accidentally received their pre-price increased menu and saw their old prices) and you have to pay $2 for each topping (chocolate chip, almond, huckleberry, etc.) otherwise you'd just get plain pancakes. -Lodge breakfast (4/5): Everything was pretty solid except the hashbrowns could have been more crispy. Loved the strawberry jam! In terms of service, our server was so kind and always kept our coffees topped off, but she may have been tired as it took her a few tries to split our checks correctly despite telling her exactly how we wanted to split everything in the beginning and repeating it a second time after eating. Since she was so nice, I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt as she was also the only server working at the time we came in.

Teriyaki salmon, broccolini, blistered cherry tomatoes, cucumber quinoa salad.

We ordered the Tot-chos (half order to share among six people) and I also got a huckleberry soda for myself as well as the bison (classic) burger with sweet potato fries. For dessert, we shared two scoops of huckleberry ice cream (from Sweet Peaks), the bread pudding and the beignets. I loved the Tot-chos, and the half order was honestly a pretty big size already! The huckleberry soda was pretty sweet (I think it had 41 grams of sugar), but I don't regret trying it. The bison burger wasn't bad, it definitely tasted similar to beef, but it was a huge burger so I couldn't finish it. The sweet potatoes were also delicious. In terms of the dessert, I had gone to Sweet Peaks already and liked their huckleberry flavor a lot, so I was excited to see them on the menu. People at my table loved the bread pudding. I thought the beignets were not bad, but they weren't as good as the other desserts.
