We ordered the Korean short ribs, tomato & goat milk ricotta, ember-roasted Picadelli cabbage with Wavy Chuck, pan-seared duck breast, and the huckleberry crème brûlée. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious! The service was fantastic and had all those little fine-dining touches that make a difference--constantly filled water glasses, folded napkins, attentive service, and everyone was incredibly kind without being overbearing. Let me start off by saying this place looks and feels lush, it is beautiful and the yelpers who mentioned to go to the ladies bathroom (yeah you should looool) I'm going to jump right into the food. We started off with the Alaskan Halibut Corndog, its more of a cooked more inside, and I kid you not I wish I ordered another of these it was so good! We also had the  Bunuelo which is shaped to mimic a pretzel that was filled with a glorious goat cheese mousse and kraut powder and a little jalapeno relish I have never in my life tasted anything like it, it was sensational. If you see this on the menu immediately order it. Next up was the Dungeness Crab Cake there is something to be said about a beautiful rendition of this dish with its flaky generous portions of crab, thoroughly enjoyed. The Grilled Korean Short Rib was an absolute favorite of mine as well, there is no way you cold get enough of it. For the mains we had the Pan Seared Duck Breast 4/5 came with the most beautiful cherry mole and corn succotash that was just exception, the balance on this speaks to the chefs talent. Now the issue here was actually the duck, one side of the breast just seemed very over and chewy while the other was perfect which is a shame but I am glad to have tried it. My kid thoroughly enjoyed Lamb Ragu with gnocchi and I honestly couldn't agree more and how well made the gnocchi was, pillow soft and utterly flavorful. But the real star of the night was Wagyu with tallow fried tater tot, chimichurri and brown butter carrots I would say though this dish commands a price, it was absolutely worth it, done exactly as ordered and every bite of each component was heavenly. For dessert we had the Cornbread dessert with miso caramel and burnt honey ice cream and it blew my mind, I am not a honey person but there's also a sense of trust you gain while eating that the kitchen knows best so dive in head first and it didn't disappoint we also had the Evening in Missoula Panna Cotta with rhubarb, orange blossom meringue and coconut boba the burst of flavors I kept getting and the delightful panna cotta was superb. Both the desserts were comped by the restaurant since even though we had a reservation we waited far too long of a time, it was close to 45min before we were seated because the previous customer had paid but were holding the table up. To me that's not something I can shrug off, I understand that they were full but 20min max I can excuse more than double is a hard swallow regardless of how great are host eventually was (Hi Dennis, you were awesome thank you!) and I appreciate the free deserts but overbooking might have been your issue here. read more

We are lucky to eat out at a lot of nice restaurants so I have pretty good perspective. The food was very good, I definitely understand why the chef got nominated for James Beard award. In our server was lovely, she's extremely nice. But the service execution around her was pretty dismal for a restaurant that I paid over $400 to eat at. The water guy came and poured sparkling water in my fiancé's half filled glass of champagne, which I've never seen happen before in my lifetime, but then we had a follow up to ask for another glass of champagne after a long period of time. And then we ordered the port with the ice cream dessert, and they brought out for fernet instead which I began drinking, and if you drank it before, you understand that I almost vomited when I set it because it's pretty disgusting and it's definitely an acquired taste. We started with a clearly number 1 cocktail served in a beehive glass--cool looking and a perfectly balanced/composed cocktail . We also had the seasonal shrub which was watermelon jalepeno and again delicious--not overly sweet with a nice kick. I did get to choose the heat level, and it didn't disappoint. For food , we started with chickpea fritters with a tamarind chutney. The presentation and taste were flavorful and creative. For our main, we both had the tempura golden enoki. I don't often eat vegetarian dishes out but glad not to miss this outstanding creation with a sticky rice waffle base, baby bok choi, black garlic XO tempura enoki and a green curry sauce . Once we started dinner we first had the foie gras - a chef special and it did not disappoint - It was so fatty like butter. The caviar service was also wonderful. We loved this spot!!! We chose to spend the last night of our honeymoon here and it was absolutely the correct choice. For appetizers we got the tomato salad and the Korean short ribs (both wonderful, if I had to choose- the Korean short ribs were definitely the favorite!) We started with the hazelnut pate and the chickpea fritters. Holy cow - they were amazing!!! The flavor combinations were unique and special. We then shared the crab cake, which was cooked perfectly and had a topping of shaved greens that were bright and paired perfectly with the crab. For mains, I ended up having the squash soup and he had the scallops. Again, I was blown away by the favor and quality of the food. Here are my takeaways. 1. Will we bring all our houseguests here? Yes, absolutely. The fact that vegetarians and carnivores can happily enjoy a meal together is special. 2. Will we do all special occasions here? Yes. 3. We've been coming to Whitefish on a regular basis for over a decade, and there are a nubber of good places to dine, and Herb and Omni is a great addition to the dining scene. We started with coctails and the bread service. It comes with Jimmy Red cornbread, sourdough, French baguette, and butter/ olive oil dip. It was very enjoyable. I ordered the butter seared scallops with potato dumplings, sundried tomatoes, arugula pesto, and crispy artichokes. It was the best scallop dish that I have had at any restaurant. Jan ordered the 3-bone rack of lamb served with a peppercorrn veal demi-glaze, and a side of asparagus with spanish anchovies, and horseradish whipped cream with lemon zest. It was excellent. The lamb was excelkent. We finished by sharing a creme burlee and coffee. The coffee was served from a press pot with a three-stahe minute glass to determine the strength of brew. We've visited Whitefish many times and always look forward to the food and hospitality, but our experience at Herb and Omni was truly disappointing. We had a dinner reservation and were the first table in the restaurant that evening, arriving early and excited for a special night out. Within two minutes of walking in, we overheard our server, Brandon, speaking negatively about our group. It was incredibly unprofessional and immediately set a bad tone. Things went from bad to worse when one of our drinks had shards of glass in it from a broken cup. When we brought it to Brandon's attention, he didn't apologize or show any concern -- instead, he blamed us, saying we must have "cheers'd too hard." Not only was that response dismissive, but it was also unsafe and completely unacceptable. Throughout the evening, Brandon's attitude was cold, condescending, and made our entire group feel unwelcome -- all while we spent over $1,300 on dinner. Whitefish is a beautiful town, and while the dining options are somewhat limited, we expected better from a restaurant that presents itself as upscale. Based on this experience, we won't be returning to Herb and Omni, and we'd recommend others think twice before booking a dinner here. read more
