When we thought every place was closed by 9:30pm in town this place came to the rescue. It has such a fun vibe inside. The staff was very nice and welcoming. The food was pretty slow to come out but our waitress was on top of refilling our drinks. The menu had typical bar food- ours was pretty decent. Nothing that blew us out of the water. We didn't have one, but the burgers seem to be their specialty. The tater tots were amazing and our nachos were loaded with cheese.

Yep, someone inside owns this awesome car.

Not nearly as scary as the legend suggests. This place is pretty awesome to hang out at, highly recommend.

Real definition of a towny, local dive bar. Love the atmosphere with the dollar bills stapled everywhere but the food was so-so. The bartender recommended the burgers so that's what we got - chili cheese burger with tots and their deluxe cheeseburger with fries.

The bacon blue cheese burger with a salad instead of fries.

Cheap drinks and cool bartenders. My husband and I love coming here, of of the few bars in montana that are LGBTQ friendly.

When you get your order in, find a table and the beeper will page you when it's ready. We got burgers, one with fries and with the watermelon. Burgers were delicious. Cooked smashed style, they had nice crispy edges. Watermelon was fresh and juicy. Fries were crispy. Great dinner. While the food is good, the music was even better. It was a solo guitarist who sang classic country. He was great. Many were sending up tips with a request and he did a great job of being able to handle most requests. The outdoor setting was awesome and the stage allowed everyone to see the entertainment. On street parking was easy. Great stop.

I ate half my omelet out of hating to waste food, but I feel like they wasted it, not me. The eggs were paper-thin and dry, with the sliced American cheese and cubed ham adding a ton of salt. I prefer well seasoned food, but this was too much. Three stars also might seem like too much, but the bacon was exquisite in quality and preparation, my husband's sunny-side-up eggs were perfect, the coffee was good and hot (even if the service was a bit chilly) and the people watching was excellent. NB: I don't "people watch" with contempt; I care about people. I particularly like to see regular visitors enjoying themselves. That morning we had two older gentlemen meeting for breakfast and Bible study; a quiet interaction between people engaged in sobriety support; a young family trying to wrangle little ones and mostly succeeding; and what appeared to be a trucker taking a late breakfast before hitting the road. All of these could have been regulars from my childhood and I enjoyed the ambiance very much. My family used to go to the Nite Owl in the late 70s / early 80s for rare restaurant dinners. Their Chef's Salad was my favorite treat at the time, and I really savored it. Before moving away from the Valley a few years later, I started ordering breakfasts and they were also grand: fluffy omelets rich with cheese, crispy hash browns...a real treat. Revisiting last week it was not the same. Too bad.

The Lodge and Russell's are spectacular examples of the government actually doing something right - incredible natural setting and superb tributes to turn-of-the-last century mountain west architecture (the Lodge was designed by Kirtland Cutter and built in 1913.) We had lunch here on Russell's season opening day so the crowd was thin but it allowed for tailored service by the staff. Our server was attentive and provided insight into the fare while the rest of the team ensured we didn't want for refills of anything. The manager noticed our Dartmoith and Harvard fleece garments and, being a New Englander, made a point to stop at our table and personally welcome us. The menu emphasizes fresh and local and we ordered the bison buger and pesto farfalle. Everything was prepared to perfection and we could not have been more pleased with the quality and quantity. The bison is from a local ranch while the pasta was perfectly al dente. The exclamation point on the mealk, however, was the huckleberry pie topped with local huckleberry ice cream (huckleberry is a local product.) No meal at Russell's is complete without this dish! Mountain rustic with finely crafted local food is a winning combination. Well done Russell's!

The bread was quite underwhelming - it tasted like the bread had been bought from a grocery store and just placed in baskets.
