Out exploring between Whitefish and West Glacier, MT. and decided on Glacier Highland for lunch. It sits on the east side of US-2 directly across from the rail station just a little north of the entrance to West Glacier. It's definitely set up to service tourists to Glacier National Park. It's a combination convenience store, gift shop and restrauant. It's clean, neat and tidy. The menu is fairly limited, with an offering of salads, soup, sandwiches, and burgers with a few other items like chicken strips. They do have a small number of beers on tap and a pie list. Jan went with the "Big Dipper", a traditional French dip sandwich ($19) she said it was OK, 3/5. I went with the North West grilled chicken sandwich ($20) that comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, melted Swiss cheese bacon and mayo, 4/5. We each ordered French fries that were good, 4/5. Our server was good. The sandwiches are a little pricey, but this is a seasonal restrauant. The close in a few days and won't open again till May, 2027. We had the keylime pie with dinner at home. It was OK, but did not live up to it's billing. read more

The good - Pies were delicious and lots of variety of options! Highly recommend for that. Service was fast & had a nice gift shop. The bad - I really didn't enjoy the chicken milanese. I'm not one to complain usually, but I said I couldn't eat it, so I just asked for chicken strips (on lunch menu) but they told me they don't offer that for dinner. So I asked for chicken nuggets on kids menu, didn't need a side. Server brought out 5 chicken nuggets ($10) and still charged for the chicken milanese ($28). Typically, if you don't eat what was offered and don't like it, that is taken off the bill, even if the chicken nuggets were taken off the bill since I didn't enjoy my meal, that would have been nice. But it's whatever. I didn't bring it to anyone's attention. Just not great service in that aspect. read more

Hidden gem in the middle of nowhere, the food is great. The servers are terrific. I can't imagine a better place in a bigger town and maybe in the United States. Tony S read more

Good food, a little expensive for what it is. Service was definitely lacking. We sat down the host pointed at a server and said (to the waiter) this table's yours. After 20 minutes of not seeing the server, I asked the host "Did you assign us a waiter?" He replied that he did then left. Came back a few minutes later and said He's taking care of some outside tables right now." A few minutes later the server came over and took our orders. Nice mountain, National Park type decor, gift shop as you walk out the door. read more

Great restaurant in West Glacier! We didn't get pie but supposedly they're known for it. The beer was really yummy, had a great beer aftertaste. The burger was solid, the jam had a nice twist to it. Fish and chips were okay but the portion was what I wanted. The fries were very yummy!! Service was attentive and the inside was nice. Connected to a gift shop. read more

The server was very friendly and sweet. Perfect place for home made pies!! I had a warmed Huckleberry/peach pie with ice cream that was amazing! We also split their version on a French dip and a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon that was yummy too! Great place for lunch! read more

I was looking for a place outside of Glacier NP to eat at and saw that just outside the train tracks there's the Glacier Highland Restaurant. It is across the street from the train station at West Glacier and also the old Benton Chalet. I often get gas at the station and never wander into the restaurant so when I did was pleasantly surprised just how nice and causal the inside was. I had the Black & Bleu salad which was a steak salad and with dressing. It was excellent value for the money and I felt very good eating it afterwards. If you're visiting Glacier NP and tired of eating the same old greasy vendor food - this place was a nice change Waiter service was wonderful by the way. read more

Glacier Highland Restaurant - Black & Bleu salad with steak. Very good - American Near Me - West Glacier, Montana

We stopped into Glacier Highland Restaurant in West Glacier for an early dinner after spending the day at St. Mary's Lake on the east side. On the drive back to the west side, there aren't a lot of food options, so this was a convenient choice. Service was quick -- water and drinks (Pepsi products) arrived fast, and the food followed soon after. Hubby ordered the cheese pizza, which was delicious overall -- fresh-tasting sauce, though the crust was a little bland. I went with the chicken pot pie, which had a unique presentation: flaky pastry on the top and bottom, with shredded chicken, peas, carrots, and mashed potatoes all inside. The potatoes had a garlicky flavor I didn't love, but the chicken filling itself was tasty. Unfortunately, the one bite I gave hubby had a small chicken bone in it -- and now he's sworn off chicken pot pie for life. Not a bad stop if you're in the area and need a quick bite, but the bone incident definitely cost it a star. read more

I stopped at Glacier Highlands Restaurant for dinner and was very disappointed. The prices are high for what you actually get, but the biggest issue for me was the extremely small portion size. I ordered the Rainbow Trout for $29. At most restaurants where I've ordered trout, I've received a whole fish or at least a substantial portion. Here, I received what looked like only half of one side of the fish, along with one piece of broccoli mixed with a small amount of other vegetables and a little rice. For $29, I expected a much more reasonable portion. The fish itself was fine, but the amount of food served for the price simply wasn't worth it. I left feeling like I had seriously overpaid for what was on the plate. Unfortunately, based on the portion size and value, I would not eat here again. read more

Went here for an early dinner on a Monday in June. They had some open tables so we were seated right away. Menu has a good selection of American classics and even a few healthier options. We ordered the bison sliders with fries and the rainbow trout. They also have a selection of local beers. I tried an amber ale lager which was good (Bayer). The food arrived very quickly and unfortunately it wasn't that good. I did like the huckleberry bbq sauce on the sliders but that was pretty much the best thing about them. The onion rings on top weren't good and the fries were very soft and texture was just off. The rainbow trout was ok, but the veggies were quite bland. So why the four stars you may ask ? The pie. It was delicious. I had the huckleberry peach one with ice cream. In hindsight we should have just ordered two pieces of pie. staff were friendly and quick with refills. If they can get the appetizers and entrees on the same level as the pies this could be a great restaurant. read more

We came here for breakfast twice. It's a quaint little family restaurant. The coffee was excellent. I had scrambled eggs, pancake, and bacon. The food was excellent, although I asked for bacon extra crisp and it was not. The real treat is their homemade cinnamon roll. Service was good as was ambiance. There is a convenience store attached with a gift shop. It!s a fun place to go. read more

The food is awful here. I got The GRIZZLY a roast beef sandwich that had grilled onions and horse radish aioli. The meat was like beef jerky and there was one tiny onion and no aioli. The fries are a greasy fat potato. The onion rings were burnt and the huckleberry pie crust is like cardboard. So not waste your money here because prices are high!! read more

For the best Huckleberry pie in Montana go to Glacier Highland Restaurant in West Glacier. Cherie, one of the owners makes the best pies. There are about 20 different pies on the menu. A lot with huckleberries but also coconut cream and Key Lime, which was delicious. Their other breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes are also very tasty. We ended up going for all three meals and a special trip just for pie! The service is great, especially Max and Dan! read more

we were recommended by the guide from our afternoon activity that this place has great food and great pie. since we are in the region and huckleberry is in season, we wanted to give it a try. The menu is very basic, nothing looks attractive and not to mention is very OVERPRICED. when I order a fish and chips that means nothing looks i want to eat and I just go for safe order. and the fish and chips came out was a bit insulting. the fish fingers are literally finger size. so tiny and i was hungry after the meal had to get a second meal elsewhere. They do have a very large selections of pie. according to local this is the best pie in town. $10 a slice for an ok flavor. Service was a bit slow and everyone seems too busy serving many tables so it was a bit hard to get our waitress attention. read more

The food we ordered was not good. We got the fried fish sandwich which looked like the square filet you'd get at a fast food restaurant (except it was $20). Had dinner here after a fantastic day in glacier. Not very impressed, food was bland, I got the chicken pot pie, at $27.00 whopping dollars, waitress was not at all friendly, did not check back on our food, had to ask the sweet gal who seated us about getting some pie. Pie was good but average slice is 12.00 and cream scoop was 2.25. I get, it it's tourist season but cmon go get another job nothing is keeping you waiting tables, she may have been upset because we only got water, but that's just wrong. So it's a no from me! read more

Pie is super fruity, flavorful with a great toasted crust! Portion size is generous with the pie slice and the ice cream scoop. After tasting pie at three places in the area, this really was the best one. Huckleberry ice cream was also delicious Huckleberry - classic and very fruit filled. Had a bit of a tart flavor too so it's not just sugar Huckleberry Peach - my favorite I enjoyed the peach slices in addition to the tart huckleberries Coconut cream - super fluffy, airy and light coconut flavor Service was a bit slow but it was a busy day with most/all tables filled even for a Monday evening. What a hidden Gem and closest to the West Glacier park entrance!! Stopped into the convenience store/gas station on our way into the park and noticed this cute little restaurant, looked at the menu and spoke with a server who noted everything is made from scratch!! We returned for dinner after driving the entire Going to the Sun Road and were seated and served immediately. We didn't try an appetizer as the entrees we noticed all had large portions and we wanted to save room for one of their dozen or so homemade pies! Wonderful quesadillas filled with cheese, beans and chicken pot pie with a puff pastry and shredded chicken in every bite! We had the Coconut cream pie and Razzleberry pie (warmed with ice cream) and both were sooo good! We're going back tomorrow night for their homemade local bison meatloaf and Huckleberry hound burger and two more slices of pie!! They also have homemade fresh dough pizzas that looked great!! And they're open until 10pm! read more

Place was suggested by Glacier Campground. It Had a patio. Was informed that their patio is not pet friendly. There was no one else at the restaurant. Menu looked great however. I mean, Huckleberry pie. Friendly service, easy parking and not in the traffic jam of Lake MacDonald. It was all good.

Owner is a complete douchebag. Somebody accused me of doing something I didn't do and the owner opened my door while I was asleep and proceeded to kick me out in the rudest way possible; saying "get your shit and get the fuck out". Didn't even ask for my side of what happened. Then he threatened my job because I was there for work, saying "you might want to start looking for a new job". The owner has no idea and needs mental help. Just glad I didn't have to pay to stay in that shit hole, my work footed the bill. read more

The Huckleberry Pie... Tell me I haven't died and gone to heaven. It was an ethereal experience. Literally mind bending and I don't even like deserts. We really enjoyed the food here. My vegetarian kid enjoyed the Caprese sandwich, I liked the rainbow trout and my spouse enjoyed the pot pie. We all tried each other's food, and I liked all of it. Came here after hiking all day in Glacier National Park. We ordered these items: buffalo meatloaf with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables (broccoli and carrots), chicken pot pie, hiking poles (essentially a flatbread with pesto and cheese), a slice of huck-peach pie a la mode, and a slice of huckleberry lemon cream pie. Overall, our consensus was that the food is good but pricey for what you get. The pies are $8 a slice regardless of whether you get them a la mode or on their own. The buffalo meatloaf gravy was flavorful and the meatloaf wasn't dry. The chicken pot pie was unique in that it was deconstructed with the filling sandwiched between two flaky layers of puff pastry. The hiking poles were amazing. We didn't have any expectations but we couldn't stop eating them. If you're visiting Glacier, looking for a good meal, and aren't on a tight budget, Glacier Highland Restaurant is a solid option. read more

The kids meal was just slightly overcooked, but the grownups' salads were big and fresh. There had been a syrup spill on one of the chairs, but the staff was apologetic and helpful. The meal was reasonably priced, but a single slice of pie was $10 - it was good but not THAT good. read more
