Vaqueros was a quick location search for restaurant near our Airbnb and we were in for a surprise. Food, service and ambience were great. Pollo crema was smooth, well prepared and lip smacking good. The Expresso burrito was delicious, red sauce on top was okay. I really liked the Horchata- refreshing flavour, tried it for the first time. Mexican coffee was nice. Portion size are massive. Dedicated parking spots for restaurants, it's a huge parking lot. Best Mexican food I have had by far! If you are in or near Glacier National park do not miss on Vaqueros at Columbia Falls. read more

Great food, authentic Mexican in a great relaxing vibe. We split the Vaqueros Special and didn't finish it. The house margarita was huge and really good. Service was fast and friendly too. We heard that there may have been a Taco Tuesday special, but it wasn't on the menu, nor were there any signs to say so. When we asked our server about it, she didn't understand our question. Vaqueros is a decently priced, delicious, and QUICK spot to get dinner. We came in around 8:45 and were already done our food and leaving by 9:30. We did eat fast - as we hiked a good bit that day - but either way, the food came out so quick. I think the non-alcoholic guava lemonade I got left much to be desired and was a bit overpriced. That said, that's pretty much my only complaint. The food was good with decent portions, I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had but it was a good option. This place used to be great but now you need to wait for service until the staff is done messing around on their phones talking to each other. Queso used to be great but now it lacks any favor. Add the house salsa and hot sauce made it better.Get a snack, food came out quick but needed to wait for the bartender to finish her text to get a napkin. Sad how it's gone down hill. read more

Service was slow. Sat in the bar area and took awhile for drink and food order to be taken. I will say there was only one bartender/server but wasn't crowded when we first got here. It was recommended that we try Going to the Sun Margarita. I would be surprised if there was more than a shot of tequila. They were sweet and $18 I'd pass. Food was bland. read more

This place was top notch in all aspects! Greeted and seated immediately with what looked close to full capacity, our server arrived within minutes and had drinks on the table in 3 mins! Queso a minute behind that and our fajitas came flying in right behind that. We were starving after a long day of hiking, so I am positive they could see it (or just that efficient)! We shared the fajita dinner with corn tortillas (yum!) served with silky guacamole, lettuce, pico, rice and beans. Everyone there was enjoying themselves and it was loud and lively with a few TVs playing NBA reruns. Our server talked with us for a good amount of time and was very pleasant and polished. We are locals and have been coming here for years. I'm leaving a review because somebody needs to do something about the female bartender/server. She's been here for years. She's inattentive, rude, throws stuff down, ignores you during and after your meal, and she barely acknowledges you while you order. Need a refill on water or chips?? she'll never bring it even after you ask nicely. She must really hate her job!! RUDE. We won't be coming here anymore. Stopped in to grab lunch before we drove to East Glacier. Being from Texas, I wasn't expecting the food to dazzle me, so I ordered the asada street tacos plate. I asked for the rice on a separate plate and for no onions on my tacos. I repeated that part 3 times because my server didn't seem to hear me at first. The rice was good. Never touched the beans. The tacos were COVERED in onions. I tried to get our server's attention but he was nowhere to be found for the next 7 minutes. So I tried to pick off most of the onions. At this point I notice how greasy the tacos are and I realize I'll have to eat them with a fork. I could only eat one, it was so greasy. When our server's attention came back, he asked if I needed a box.... I explained that the tacos were gross and I didn't want them. I swear he did not understand because he responded with a smile and asked if I wanted dessert. Our server's name was Roberto and this was on Wednesday July 23. To be honest it took us so long to get seated and have someone even get our drink order that I should have left before we ordered. That is my bad. The restaurant does look nice. Friendly, patient service and loads of chips right away to satiate the hangry children. I love the upbeat decor, classy and fun, with big tables for big groups and cozy intimate spaces for date nights. Portions were nice and large, prices were solid and the food was consistent and flavorful, if not anything to write home about. Worst ever Mexican food ever. I would give zero stars if there was an option. Ordered the chicken combination plate of 4 1. Burrito - rating - 0/5 2. Enchilada - rating - 0/5 3. Taco - rating 0/5 4. Chile relleno - rating 2/5 Chicken was the main filling in all of these dishes, there were no other elements except for some sweet ketchupy tomato paste flavors and cheese layer on some. The chicken was super duper chewy - we had to throw our bites out of the mouth. There was no flavor whatsoever in any of the dishes. The plate came with rice and choice or black of refried beans. These were the only items I was able to eat some of. But there was no flavor apart from salt in the beans and grease on the rice. We had added a scoop of guacamole for $2 and this is the first place ever that I did not eat guacamole at in my life cuz it tasted bad! The staff was hardly attentive - they were all in front of us but one of them who had given us the menu kept ignoring us. Our server wouldn't come and attend to us either. Finally we were able to get past their ignoring stage And got one of them to listen. As we spoke about how the chicken was chewy in all the items on the plate and perhaps we should get a refill on the rice and beans - she said ok and brought us the plate of rice and beans. However we saw later on the bill that she had added ~ $8 without telling us that it would cost us extra to get the refill. Even this new plate of rice we couldn't eat. If the staff were helpful I'd have asked for a lemon wedge that could help us gulp the rice down. We left the place - amused, laughing and hungry. ' how can the food be soooo bad!!!' We hardly tipped the servers and were ready to get back to our Airbnb and eat sth self made. In hindsight we should have sent our food back in the beginning and just left the restaurant. The food is spotty at best. We ordered a veggie enchilada and the veggies were frozen, old. Hot, yes but mushy. I had the chicken tacos and it was salty. Tons of rice and beans on the side. My family has been coming to this establishment for the past 10 years. My husband is the lieutenant on the fire department. We used to love this restaurant for the last six months we have been coming in here. The food has been absolutely disgusting last night. I ordered tacos, Del El Carbone, and all they did was give me corn tortillas covered in salsa. It was probably the most soggy thing I have ever had from this establishment Along with the gentleman that was the server standing 10 feet away from our table, staring at us the entire time we ate and hovering over us was absolutely as uncomfortable as it gets our Family will not be coming to this restaurant anymore has become an extreme waste of money.!!!!! it was also very disappointing to hear this server. The food was very tasty but the reason for three stars is because service was not great. Took a long time for anyone to come by our table and when they did, they basically threw our silverware on the table and left. When our server finally came we gave our order and then had to wait again. It's a little disconcerting when people who came in after you are served first. If you've had authentic Mexican food from California, Arizona, Texas or New Mexico you'll know this is more Taco Bell than anything. Surprisingly if this is rated high then you probably want to just completely avoid Mexican food in the area as the low rated ones must be really bad. It's a large restaurant, it has a small casino room and a nice bar area. Our food was good. I ordered a cheese enchilada and a ground beef taco. We have been a loyal customers at Vaqueros for more than 10 years. The food is always great as well as the staff. Recently.. and unfortunately.. I'd have to say the customer service has gone down hill. Hate to give that review but it's true. One of the bar tenders especially...(new gal I think her name is Alicia is the most rude server we have ever encountered). I hope that they notice this soon. This place is underrated. Should be a four star, not 3.5. Delicious food, great service, plenty of seating, AC worked great, nice to go boxes with a sturdy bag. We ate The Confetti! Delicious appetizer trio consisting of flautas, quesadilla, and super nachos (we chose shredded beef). This was delicious and enough food for two people to share for their meal.
