My husband and I were looking for a restaurant that had great of reviews and Vaqueros came up.. The decor was nice and the restaurant is clean. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. It's a large restaurant, it has a small casino room and a nice bar area. Our food was good. I ordered a cheese enchilada and a ground beef taco. My husband ordered the burrito supreme which had chicken, rice, beans, cheese sour cream and lettuce. He liked it, it's a good size. Parking lot behind Vaqueros. read more

Maybe voted high in Montana but that's due to a lack of perspective. If you've had authentic Mexican food from California, Arizona, Texas or New Mexico you'll know this is more Taco Bell than anything. Surprisingly if this is rated high then you probably want to just completely avoid Mexican food in the area as the low rated ones must be really bad. It's ok and for those with no perspective it'll be fine but if you actually know good Mexican food you'll be only mildly satisfied at best. read more

This place is underrated. Should be a four star, not 3.5. Delicious food, great service, plenty of seating, AC worked great, nice to go boxes with a sturdy bag. We ate The Confetti! Delicious appetizer trio consisting of flautas, quesadilla, and super nachos (we chose shredded beef). This was delicious and enough food for two people to share for their meal. We ate this and took home our entire entrees! read more

Vaqueros - The Confetti! Delicious appetizer trio consisting of flautas, quesadilla, and super nachos (we chose shredded beef)!! - Mexican Near Me - Columbia Falls, Montana

We searched and looked at all the options in C Falls. Skip the rest and head directly to vaqueros. It'll be packed. Why? Locals always know. This is great food. Really great authentic Mexican food. Rare in Montana frankly. Service was fantastic. Great drinks. Honestly it is stellar. So skip the bar menu restaurants. The burgers. The meat. The usual usual usual. This is the right call. It's got great parking. It's big. It was such a great night. read more

Pretty good Mexican food for the area, always fast to come out with the food too! I get the chicken flautas

Fast service, hot food. Nice restaurant. I personally didn't care for their margaritas so they took it off my bill. Would go back if in town again. read more

We have been a loyal customers at Vaqueros for more than 10 years. The food is always great as well as the staff. Recently.. and unfortunately.. I'd have to say the customer service has gone down hill. Hate to give that review but it's true. One of the bar tenders especially...(new gal I think her name is Alicia is the most rude server we have ever encountered). I hope that they notice this soon. We probably won't subject ourselves to that anymore. Food good though. Not sure why they keep her on. read more

Food **** We got the Garden Harvest burrito with a side of guac. The burrito was delicious and is big. The side of guac was also pretty large if you don't want to get a full portion. We also got frozen margs which we would NOT recommend - tasted super chemically. Atmosphere *** Generic Mexican restaurant atmosphere Service **** Quick and easy Price $$ Under 15 read more

We've driven over an hour to dine here many times but always take our visitors from afar after a trip to GNP. The service is excellent, the entrees are authentic and their guacamole is outstanding! Definitely recommend! read more

The place is large and wasjumping with local families on a Sunday evening. Service was good, chicken soup was great. But the chili rellleno was shockingly bad. Instead of a light, coating, it was hard and tough! read more

This place is "meh". Hubby & I visited after hiking the Lake McDonald area, & it was one of the only restaurants open on a Sunday afternoon during Glacier's off-season. Entrance: Probably the most confusing entrances to locate...door off the parking lot could use better signage! Chips & salsa: we only got one basket of chips and one small bowl of salsa to split. Extra chips are $2/basket and salsa is 75 cents per bowl. Queso: DON'T get the $8 queso. Rip off, lacking flavor. Tostito's is better, even cold. Entrees: Thankfully we made it in for the lunch special ($11-$13 per entree rather than the normal $15+ per entree.) Hubby got a burrito with chorizo - bland, chorizo was ground so fine it didn't have much bite to it. I ordered a carne asada "quesadilla" which promised a "giant" tortilla...see the picture and tell me that's not just a taco with a little extra cheese(?!) ‍ Portions were big, but y'all, just go somewhere else if you crave good Mexican. read more

The food and service was very good. I was a little disappointed that my fajita wasn't served sizzling on a cast iron platter. It was cooked right and hot. Overall we thought it was worthwhile of another visit sometime. We entered from the bar side and thought it was small then the person that greeted us asked if we were looking to dine-in then showed us the way into the larger dining room. read more

We happened upon this restaurant on our way back to our campsite from Glacier Natl Park. I really wasn't expecting much from a Mexican restaurant in Montana, but I was I happily surprised. Having lived throughout the southwest and in Mexico, I'm a little picky and don't care for TexMex. This was amazing. I ordered the three enchilada dinner and my husband got a burrito. Both we so happy with everything! The service and the food...from the chips and salsa up our entrees were perfect!!! read more

Just forget all the other recommendations you get from various people, and eat here! We were in town for the night and went to three different restaurants before we found this gem. Good food, we split the carne Asada super nachos and it was the best nachos we have ever had. The place was clean, the service fantastic (THANK YOU KADY!) and loved the local laid back attitude. You know it's good food when it is sooooo busy! read more

This place was awesome! The salsa and chips were some of the best that I've had at a Mexican restaurant. We shared queso with chorizo. I had street tacos with pork. My husband had enchilada, and we both agreed everything was really good. They were generous with portions, service was quick, nice ambiance, and plenty of parking. read more

Our family group recently stopped in here after leaving Glacier National park. We were seated right away which was nice. The service was very attentive and responsive. The food though was good but not great. Being from California we eat Mexican food often and the Mexican food in Montana is not the same. The Going to the Sun margaritas were great. The tacos tasted like pre made. The Caldo de Pollo was very good. The chips and Salsa were good. read more

TLDR: standard Tex mex fair in a beautiful setting Got your usual tex mex style food done well. Prices are fair, plenty of beer and margarita options. There's a little casino in the back for some gaming while you're there. The dining room itself seems like it was recently renovated and is quite pretty. Bathrooms are clean. Solid stuff overall. read more

We stopped here for dinner while on vacation. There was an estimated 15 minute wait to be seated, but we were called sooner. ALL the servers were phenomenal. Very polite, attentive, and professional. I can't say enough nice things about them. The food was also absolutely delicious. I had the Chile Relleno and my hubby had enchiladas. We would definitely return here if in the area again. read more

I had a combo dinner with two ground beef burritos. The meat was not flavored well and lacked good mexican seasoning. They only gave us one small bowl of salsa to share, so we had to order another. read more

The restaurant has a couple of doors to enter into but no matter the door, they are quick to guide you where to check in for a restaurant table. Once you are sited, the waitress/waiter is quick to take your drink order. Menu is easy to ready and the portions are more than Texas size (big) . Husband and I shared a carne colorada with side order of guacamole and the night special was a peach margarita ($10). Coming from Texas, it was not spicy but it had taste. Margarita has a good kick. The crew is very quick to clean up and keep the restaurant clean and welcoming. If you are in Columbia Falls and looking for homemade comforting food, this is a good place to stop in to relax and enjoy, good atmosphere and food. read more

My colleague from High School (50 years ago!) were at Vaqueros bar, and when he entered the bar, he laid his car keys on the bar table. THIS gets better lol! As it turns out, a guy (who happens to be a regular, in this case, thankfully lol) is standing next to us. Towards the end of the night, my colleague needed to go out to his car, but he couldn't find his keys! The bartenders were like "oh I bet so and so accidentally put YOUR keys in his pocket! Long story short, phone calls were then made to this patron and MELISSA (bartender) was a star! Melissa went above and beyond her duties to track down missing keys! And then the other bartenders also got involved making sure keys were found! Great teamwork! Good food, drinks, positive atmosphere! We WILL be back! Thanks to all!!! read more

Growing up in Southern California and I learned to cook authentic Mexican food at a young age, moving to a state that good Mexican food is scarce I'm always on the look out for a good place. This place came highly recommended by someone I know that loves some good authentic food so my hopes were high. Yay the chips a salsa were very good and that's a good sign... so I just went with the basic cheese enchilada, rice and beans. Since I'm a little eater. My companions had the chili verde, street tacos and the other a quesadilla. My combo meal hit the spot, good authentic flavor and was all hot and tasty. I got to sneak a bite of my friends chili verde which was probably the best I've had in Montana. The other two liked their tacos & quesadilla. The hot sauce that came with the street tacos must of been made with habanero peppers because it was HOT!! I took home some for hubby and forgot to tell him The big hit with my girlfriends were the margaritas. Two of them had the Cadillac ones and the other had one that was mango and jalapeño it was yummy. I was the driver so I just got to taste. Next time I'll indulge. I'm really glad we came here the service was awesome and the food was good!! We'll be back!! read more

Excellent food and service. Very quick had our drinks less than 5 minutes from being seated. Very friendly and attentive waitress. Food was great and reasonably priced. Cadillac Marguerites were huge and well worth the 18 dollars. read more

Our waitress was friendly, attentive and courteous with a warm smile all the time. I ordered the chicken taquitos with rice & beans. The beans were the tastiest part of my meal. The sauce they put over the taquitos ruined them. They were soggy and it tasted just like plain tomato sauce. My husband ordered two shredded beef tacos (hard shells) and a cheese enchilada . The meat in the tacos was flavorless and they were so soggy that by time he got to the second taco it had to be eaten with a fork. The rice had no flavor and he also agreed that the beans were good. The cheese enchilada sauce tasted like Campbells tomato soup. The portion sizes were good and the prices were not bad. We are spoiled with great Mexican food that we have in Arizona. read more

My boyfriend and I went in recently as we do every so often and I ended up getting food poisoning. I know it was from Vaqueros because it was the only thing I ate that day. Hours later I became the sickest I have ever been in my life. Unable to keep water or pedialyte down. After a full day of nonstop projectile vomiting I went to the ER where they gave me two IVs, did extensive blood work and sent me home with medication. 5 days later and I have no appetite and can hardly stomach anything even when forcing myself to eat. My assumption is that it was from their rice. My boyfriend had only a few small bites of rice whereas I had a significant amount more than him. We shared the carne asada plate. A day or so later he ended up getting sick as well just not as extreme as myself. The restaurant was promptly made aware and we were offered an apology. I highly recommend eating elsewhere unless you would potentially like to pay a visit to the ER, miss several days of work and completely lose all of your appetite and ability to stomach anything! read more

Loved the atmosphere. Everyone was super nice. Seemed semi fancy inside and nice dim lighting. Very quick service no wait time. Took us in even tho they closed in 30 minutes. Everyone was smiling and laughing. They got us our food very quickly and it was very fresh and delicious. Highly recommend! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. read more

Vaqueros - Pollo a la cream - grilled strips of chicken cooked with a cream sauce with mushrooms and onions. Served with a side of rice and beans. - Mexican Near Me - Columbia Falls, Montana

The restaurant had a good Mexica vibe to it. My wife and I shared a veggie enchilada for lunch, flan for dessert. Complimentary chips and salsa preceded the meal. It has been a while since I tasted Mexican food this good! The chips were fresh and the salsa too with the right spicy heat. The veggies were cooked just right, with a good bite to them and they tasted fresh. Our server April was gracious and assured us that one enchilada should be enough for the two of us. Thanks April and Vaqueros! read more

Nice, clean family restaurant with great service. Taco Salad was okay, but sat in a pool of water, making it quite soggy. Salsa was tasty, but very runny and difficult to dip chips. Service, however, was great! read more

As we walked in the smells were amazing. The place was packed but we got a table right away and the place was very clean. There was one hick up with my wife's drink, but the waitress came by and explained what happened and brought her the corrected drink fairly quickly. The food was delicious with very large portions. I'm sad that I am not a local so I could go back and enjoy it again. read more

Disappointing. All of our party of five thought their dishes were average. Nothing that would make us come back. I had fish tacos which were below average. Service was also spotty. Fast service , polite workers. Food was amazing. I had the Mary Tiary and although the carne was a bit bland when you eat it the way it should (with the onions and peppers) it was amazing. Since Columbia Falls is such a small town I expected subpar Tex Mex. But I was pleasantly surprised. The food was really good - I'd say it's your average Tex Mex which isn't a bad thing. I got a burrito and it was massive - I took half of it home. My friend got the street tacos which came with a side of salsa. I loved that salsa (it was different than what came with the chips). It was spicy and sweet at the same time. I ordered a jalopeno marg and was pleasantly surprised. You could actually taste the jalopeno but it wasn't too spicy. If I ever visit Columbia Falls/GNP, I'd definitely visit Vaquero's! It was a nice switch up from burgers/American at most of the other restaurants near by. read more

They claim to care about your allergies, however I walked in and was very clear about my cilantro allergy. The server kept saying, "I don't think it has that in it. " I explained that I really needed her to ask her kitchen staff about the allergies before I order. She couldn't have been more bothered, proceeding to talk about me to the other waitress while laughing. She came back and told me to order the queso because it didn't have cilantro but the salsa did. I explained once more that if there was cilantro in there I would be sick. She said it doesn't. You'll see in photo I found cilantro after second bite. They don't accommodate for allergies and you'll be lucky if they even bother asking the kitchen. Allergies to food are serious, and this place doesn't care. Hoping I don't get sick from what I ate before discovering. read more

Again..food is really consistently flavorful! We drive 45 minutes just to eat here and they always recognize us and treat us like family. We had the chili verde with a side of roasted jalapenos. Always tasty and I never finish so I can have it with eggs the next day. My friend had shrimp in a creamy white sauce. This dish was good, but onions were on the crunchy side which took away from the flavor. I would ask that they carmalize them next time.
