If you're looking for a quintessential patio evening near Glacier, look no further. We stopped here for dinner after a day at the park. They had live music and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. My friend and I split the chicken club and a small Caesar salad with chicken, and it was great. Salad and fries were better than expected. The chicken on the sandwich was a little dry, but the rest of the sandwich made up for it. The bun was fresh and the bacon and sauce were a great touch. Located just outside of the Glacier National Park West Gate, I had a double patty bison Smashburger after a day in the park. The burger was fresh (not previously frozen), significantly lower in fat than a typical beef burger and delicious. My only complaint was that I, and other customers, had to go to the counter to order and pay before the order was placed. When paying, I was presented with one of those "TIP screens" which started at 18% and went into the 20's. I tipped and the order was placed. I was then given a glass and told that I could fill the glass with soda "over there" and get napkins, condiments and plastic forks/spoons/knives "over there." I was given a buzzer that would signal when to return to the counter to get my meal. After the meal, customers were directed to clear the table, placing plastic glasses and baskets in one area and trash in another. I regretted tipping so much when placing my order. read more

She didn't know if an item had peanuts and didn't bother checking to find out. Even after I told her that my child is allergic. She didn't even greet us or smiled. It was scary asking her for utensils bc she glared at me when I asked. While we were eating she was yelling at all the customers that they're closing in 15 min and we have to eat outside. Food was terrible. Tasted like cafeteria food. Don't come here even if you're starving. If I knew it was that bad I would have just drove out 30 min for actual food. Bison burger was mediocre at best and I felt overpriced for what I've had at other spots. Huckleberry pie, same experience and they gave it to me cold. Cute little local restaurant that's right before the Glacier National Park entrance which is nice. There's also has a bar and ice cream shop attached to it. Great for families as well, there's a bunch of outdoor and indoor seating and is pet friendly. It's mostly self serve, you order your food and they give you a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. I got the BLT and substituted the mayo for the avocado spread. It wasn't bad, I wish they put more of it on and the texas toast was a bit dry but overall not bad. The fries were super yummy though! My husband got the breakfast burger that came with fries which he said was delicious and my stepdaughter got the kids chicken tenders, which were a bit too fried and the mac & cheese as a side which she said was awesome. Wow, how do they even have 3 stars. Counter service. Disney prices for burgers, quality similar to a convenience store at 2am. We dropped $81 for 3 cheeseburgers, 1 soda and a piece of pie. The pie tasted "store-bought" reheated-frozen, the burgers were dried out and cooked to a crisp, our shake came melted. Skip this place and go down to Sunflower Cafe at Glacier campground, better prices and vastly better food. read more

The two of us began writing our reviews before finishing this $45 lunch. That's right...two cheeseburgers, a water, and one lemonade. $45. Of course, no point of sale moment preceding this dog-food-on-a-bun would be complete without the egregious overture of panhandling by the cashier who, after charging us for that crap casserole, presents you with- as they now phrase it- "a screen that's going to ask you a question" starting with an 18% tip all the way tp 25% for handing us a "your food is ready pager." And don't expect looks of sympathy from the dining room of red MAGA hats contentedly shoveling this and other equally offensive menu options and culinary felonies into their grumpy, constipated faces. Freda's bar is remarkably average and the food we had was all whelming. It's possible we may have even been more disappointed if we weren't hiking all day and entirely exhausted and just needed food so badly. The Angus burger was fine, they don't ask about the cook you want so you'll get it however it comes out. All sides are extra and that's disappointing because for just a burger or a sandwich it's relatively expensive already. The beyond burger got a similar review, the Cole slaw was not good, potato salad was fine and fries were enjoyable. Then subtract points for a ketchup and mustard pump that are almost always more hassell than they are worth. Service was fine, I saw some heavy complaints from others but our experience was no more or less pleasurable than the average. The atmosphere was chill, it's nice inside and there is plenty of outside seating. Don't necessarily recommend it, but if you're hungry, you'll be able to check that box. Enjoy! read more

Good lord, dear reader, we ate here TWICE and NOT because it's good. No, after hiking all day, when you are sweaty, starving, and needing to feed your kid, you end up at Freda's because of convenience and proximity. That is all that this place has going for it, so we succumbed for two dinners there two days in a row. It's expensive, of course, because Freda's is basically one of the only shows in town before you leave West Glacier. It's an order-at-the-counter-and-get-a-buzzer situation, so we will say that things move relatively quickly. However, expect them to mess up--because they will. Our daughter got a kid's cheeseburger on both occasions, and honestly, it was fine. One of us ordered the bison smash burger twice, and it also tasted pretty good with all the proper fixin's on it. Fries are decent. The beans are too sweet but passable. Slaw is a mayo mess. The salads are a joke. One of us ordered the cobb without egg and bacon, but it came out that way anyway and then had to be redone. Then it's just the bagged stuff with a couple cucumbers and tomatoes thrown on for good effect. The Asian crunch salad was laughably unimpressive. We did love the huckleberry sour beer and a couple of the others on draft. Ice cream portions are generous here but the vanilla is gross and tastes like nothing! Stick with the huckleberry--it's actually amazing. Several of the workers are from overseas and don't speak great English, so it took several employees to figure out what our daughter was asking for with a Shirley Temple and then to get the correct pricing. About what you would expect, so we only have ourselves to blame. 2.5 stars, rounding up because...we don't know why...it just wasn't bad enough to be a 2. But you've been warned. read more

It also cost $16 for just a bratwurst, which is expensive for just that. The service was a bit slow. If you are desperately hungry after being in the park this place is easy to get to. Went for lunch they had good salads and burgers. You order at the counter then go sit. Ice cream and coffee is sold near front counter with merchandise. There is a bar along other side of the wall. The restrooms have a baby changing table. The service was quick and employees were cleaning constantly. read more

Way to pricey. $27.oo for a burger fries and come for one person. You could maybe do it for 23 of you had a single and smaller fries. You stand in line like regular fast food. They bring it to you. In a bag. I had the spicey bison buger. Think patties, not my style. But nice, melty cheese. Sesame seed bun, nothing special. But they do the grilled onions nicely. The inside is newly remodeled to handle larger crowds, but wasnt crowed, likely due to the $15.oo cheese burgers that don't include fries. 4 bucks from small fries, 6 for large. Basic fries. My recommendation is to hit restaurants father away from the park on your way in. Kalispell, Columbia Falls, Coram, Hungry Horse have food just as good or better and way cheaper. Stop at Fred Myer's (basically Kroger, Buttrey's (basically Jewel) and fill the cooler with what you need. There is a decent grocery at the St Mary Entrance as well. read more

Great bartending service. We stopped in here just outside the park entrance after a long day of hiking for a beer and some food. You order food at the adjoining restaurant- burgers and fries mostly. Beer was cold and refreshing. They had local and domestic options. Prices reasonable and the bartender was friendly and happy to have us. We had some postcards to write, and with the post office right next door, this struck me as the perfect spot to pen a few cards... And it was. It was a great place to stop on the way out of the park. I had a few more Montana brewed beers. Inside it's a dark and a soothing place to sit. Normally I think a would 4-star a place like this, but the location alone is worthy of a fifth star. We Popped in twice during our stay. Theresa was on the first night, she was sweet and knowledgeable. Great service and good conversation was had. I believe Lance was our second bartender. Very passionate and knowledgeable. Come here to try all of the locally brewed beers, whisky's and chats with locals and young staff who care about their craft. Perhaps they can have some sports on or something more entertaining than this promotional rafting video. To be fair, we didn't ask and I'm sure they would've happily changed it. This place is a hidden gem! I have been in west glacier for 3 days. On day one we popped into Fredas to have a quick local beer. That's where we met "Theresa". She was bartending and was just an overall amazing person. Her knowledge and advice on where to hike, get food, explore, and just adventure was spot on. She was so good we asked her when her next shift was so we could come in and chat. Immediately we walked in and called my brother and I by our names and asked us what adventures we have been on.
