This place is exactly what I was looking for, a no- fuss dive-y bar. They have a lot of local beer on tap and their food is good. We had cheeseburgers and the portion was large and they were very affordable. People were friendly enough. Anyone giving this place a negative review needs to adjust their expectations. It is a biker bar with cheap drinks and good no- frills food. A server may or may not be present so seat yourself, walk up to the bar and order. Fyi it is cash only, but there is an ATM in there, as well as pool tables and slot machines. They must have live music sometimes because they had a stage as well. This place is definitely a dive bar type vibe. Me and my friends came for a bar food dinner and drinks. We were able to sit wherever so we sat outside which was super nice. The waitress was so nice and accommodating she made it a pleasant experience. The food was actually very good! We all enjoyed the different burgers and fish fry that we got. The reason we aren't giving this place more stars is because we sat there for upwards of 2 hours waiting for our food. It seemed as though they were very short staffed because our waitress seemed to be the only one. Of course this is not her fault but it was still a little bit ridiculous and kind of put us off on the place. I'm not sure we would come back based on the wait but worth trying for sure. read more

This was the only place open in the area after 1030 on a Friday night. It's a bar with small dining tables, low light, and also a pool table. I would rate the food a 3.5/5 - the onion rings were good but I have definitely had better. The cheeseburger was a regular burger with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and meat. Nothing extraordinary, but tasty and filling. Also, expect to wait some time for your orders. read more

Yes it's a biker bar. That's why we went in, though we looked like the Manhattanites that we are - all black clothes and pasty faced. We were a curiosity and have already gotten used to it from our cross country trip and we think it's funny. Part of our goal was to experience America and you can only sort of do that at the combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bells. "Just be nice" is great advice and in no time we were eating great meatloaf and drinking good local beer. Basically, anywhere you go, if there's kindness in your eyes, but you are also a little fearless (holding your own), you'll be fine. I love this place! My husband and I stop in a few times every time we are in Glacier. We were there two days ago and my bar stool was more duct tape than stool. It is truly a dump. They make great burgers - I crave their Ortega Burger. The service is usually slow but the food makes up for it. The people watching is fantastic. The people watching is like diner theater. I struggled with whether or not to write this review, and finally decided I should. The food was OK (two burgers, one of which had the bun totally burned), but the service was terrible. They were not very busy, yet nobody acknowledged us when we walked in to let us know if we should wait to be seated or just seat ourselves. We chose to seat ourselves, since this is how it worked in the past. A waitress came and took our drink and food order pretty quickly, but it was all downhill from there. Long story short, our meals were comped because "that's what a good manager does" (yes, the "manager" actually said that to me). Walking into any new restaurant you've never heard of before is always scary. You don't know what to expect and are nervous you're doing everything wrong. This place was no different for me and my son when we were in the area after hiking in GNP. However with this place we walked into a busy albeit dark dining room to "Light my Fire" by the doors playing in the background, our favorite song. They serve beer and Cokes and Pepsi products. I figure the locals will not like this post, but it is more of a local pub, a kind of a Due Drop Inn sort of hangout. If this is your type of environment, do drop in, but dinner once was enough for me. Mainly for being under staffed, not much choices and the cash only parts were my reasons. They do have an ATM. This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. We walked in and were sat next to a family putting their order in. We ordered right after and then both of our parties proceeded to wait well over an hour. Finally, my friend went in to check on the food as did a person from the family sitting next to us. Someone finally came out to give us our food after about 1.5 hours. The house salad came with no dressing, the onion rings were watery(??), and they forgot to give me fries with my burger. However, we faired much better than the family next to us. They were treated with extreme disrespect and ended up leaving without their food even thought they placed their order before us. Frankly, I am confident their treatment was a product of discrimination. The waiter was apologetic towards our party (two white women) while ignoring or responding harshly to this family (who were poc). I'm living in town for the summer and came in with two of my ladyfriends. Now, three pretty good looking chicks in their early twenties don't exactly fit the Packers Roost look, but everyone was great, nice, and pretty much all drunk as hell. Most of the people we talked to were probably alcoholics in their 50s, but it turned into a really fun night, actually. There was a hot, huge bonfire in back that anyone could add a palette to if they felt that it needed to be larger. Some of the men talked our ears off, Charlie said he was going to cartwheel over to us, and one young Canadian hit on us for a while. Only one creeper was encountered really, who was easily shooed away. Beer's cheap and delivered with fast, friendly service from a raspy-voiced hottie in short shorts, and no one was too cool to be nice to us. read more

I love this place!!!!! If you are in the area and you don't come here for a steak and cheese and chat with the snake tattoo lady, you might as well never visit glacier park in the first place. Both the sandwich (made from the prime rib and best steak and cheese I ever had ((and I been to philly)) and the snake lady, were very memorable. We had heard good things about this place for a couple of summers and decided to give it a try. This place looks a little rough on the outside but the food was excellent. We ordered the patty melt which was delicious. Made on delicious locally made rye bread, the Angus beef patty was cooked to perfection. This place is one of the best restaurant experiences the wife and I have had together. We were at Glacier on Vacation around the 4th of July and nothing was open. Someone recommended this place and we were so glad they did. Yes it is a biker bar, and yes if you're looking for a pretentious martini bar, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a great place to grab a cold beer and amazing food, this is the place for you. We watched Walker Texas Ranger and ate our food. Walking into the place we didn't expect much, but our waitress/bartender/cook was a one man shop while we were there. She was awesome. Our burgers were amazing, and the local beers were great. Its nothing fancy but just some good old American food at a great American bar. Its hands down the best bar food either of us have ever had and a great atmosphere to boot. While we were there the locals were more than friendly to us. I guess it may be how you handle yourself, I don't know. read more

We found this place coming back from Sturgis. Great Biker Bar, motorcycle enthusiast...whatever. The beer is cold,music rocks, food is served and if you want you can crash out back if you get too wasted. Love this place now we have been stopping in for the last 12 years and have never had any trouble! Of course we fit "the profile", still never even SEEN trouble there.
