Food was good. Drinks so so. My wife ordered 2 of the same drinks k and the second was completely different. No spicy rim, jalapeños instead of dried lime. They comped and sent another, even more different than the first. They literally have 4 drinks in their menu. The bartender was busy talking to the people sitting g at the bar and not making drinks. They forgot our appetizer which is not a huge deal but we were looking forward to it. read more

I had a great dinner here! The menu had enough options to have diversity but not too many that leaves you stranded wondering "where do I even start." It was relatively slow when I was there, but we also went in later around 830pm.. the staff was super friendly, accommodating, and quick! I really loved the atmosphere and decor as well, but am curious to see it peak hours - they have a small stage in there for live music so I bet it gets pretty loud and packed on weekend nights! Pretty good! Good appetizer - mushroom toast thing. My steak was solid - a sirloin - though not as great as I would have hoped, given that it's the same kitchen as the Mercantile steakhouse on the other side of the building. Wife liked her chicken sandwich. Bread pudding dessert was decent - though the offered desserts were sort of disappointing overall. Wine list by the glass was only OK - again, surprising given that it's the sister restaurant to the fancy steakhouse. How hard would it be to have some good bottles by the glass? Wouldn't it be easier to burn through them before they go bad that way? Waitress - Cadence - was a delight. Helpful, diligent, considerate. read more

I had a longing for a good drink and desert. A friend told me that the old KM building bar had been remodeled and now had food and interesting cocktails. She didn't lie. While there was no desert, I ordered the poutine (Canadian desert? Maaaaybe) and the Jungle bird Cocktail. The jungle bird is so different and hard to describe maybe like a curried tropical Christmas? Anyway, it was very good and I've never had any thing like it. The poutine is made with duck fat, so already very decadent. Add gravy, cheese curds and bacon ends and it's beyond. A couple bites was all I had room for, so hopefully it makes a good midnight snack. I had it packaged to go just for that purpose. read more

1 mezcal margarita ($17) + 1 chx Caesar "salad" ($22)= $39...?! I'm not sure what world we live in that a basic mezcal margarita is $17? Especially in Kalispell, MT...don't even get me started about the Caesar. Came with a head of lettuce that I had to cut with a fork and steak knife? I'm not sure if this was meant to look more aesthetically pleasing or what. But after I disassembled it there was about 1 cup of lettuce, maybe a teaspoon of crouton "crumbs", and an even less amount of parmesan. I used to love this place but inevitably must add it to the ever-growing "overpriced and underwhelming" list of Flathead Valley restaurants I'll never return to. read more

Nine of us were in town for a retreat. We had dinner Friday night. The steaks were so tender, juicy and delicious. The shareable sides were so very yummy. We had Calamari and the Spinach dip for appetizers. Our server forgot my side of asparagus but quickly had it out to me. The band was so thoughtful and mentioned that they were playing quietly while guests were eating but would play louder once the drinking began. They were appreciative of the tips we gave. We all decided that we wanted to return next year. One of our party owns longhorns and he raved about how delicious his steak was. The decorations were interesting and topic of conversation while we waited for our food. I highly recommend stopping in and trying it out for yourself. The food all looked so good and was so delicious I forgot to take pictures. read more

Visited numbers times since opening. Unusually high prices for drinks compared to other local establishment. Unusual sitting and bar arrangements. Sitting at bar you're facing wall with your back towards others and unable to interact with others, except your bartender. Can't see available sporting events because tvs behind you. Last time the music was so loud I couldn't hear my friends talking to me from across the table. The food last time I ate here was super salty and so was the persons I came with. So I decided I'd give it another try. The Caesar salad I ordered was a total joke. Leathery stale Parmesan and a few leaves of romaine that I had to cut up myself. Met a friend for drinks and appies. I had the onion stack, I've had better. She had fries, sub par. The killer was the drinks. I had 2 Cosmos, she had 2 dirty martinis. They tried to over charge me at $15 each! When I asked, the server met with the bartender and came back with $5 off, so still $10 each. $32 for onion rings and 2 drinks is ridiculous. My friend's bill was $35. Kalispell is not "the resort town", and all these establishments are not thinking of the middle class. What happened to happy hour????? I won't be back. read more

Horrible service, bad food. We waited 15 minutes for a server to even acknowledge us. The onion rings were so salty they were disgusting (not to mention dripping with grease). We had three meals with fries, all the fries were so salty NO ONE ate any of them. The steak tasted like propane. The kids meal of noodles sat under the heat lamp until they were hard and crusty. We told the server about all of this, she cleared four full plates of food that we didn't eat, and she didn't do anything about it. In addition, the bathroom was completely out of soap and paper towels the whole evening, which is gross. We live in Kalispell and will not eat here again. read more

Saw their write up in the magazine and wanted to check it out, as we love Tupelo's in Whitefish. I'd had the Macaroni at Tupelo's and it was wonderful. But the macaroni in the KM Bar was not as good, as the shells didn't seem to be cooked enough and the sauce was sticky - it stuck to my lips and I had to keep wiping my lips. But it had good flavor. My husband's food was very good. How ever, the music was way, way too loud. We had to ask the server to repeat herself 3 or 4 four times and the next day my husband said he thought his hearing was damaged. Not the best band (of 2) either. read more

Couldn't recommend this place more! Everything was exceptional. The food was the best food I've had in a long time. Classic comfort foods like poutine and a french dip were totally leveled up, best I've ever had. Our drinks were SO good too, highly recommend the Madre. The service was excellent. Our server, Grace was wonderful. She had great recommendations, knew the menu well, and stopped by numerous times to check on us to make sure everything was as we wanted. The general manager also stopped by to check on us numerous time and was very friendly and professional. It's clear that the staff enjoy their jobs. Last, the actual restaurant itself is unbelievably beautiful. It's a historical mercantile building where the original charm has been beautifully maintained. The steakhouse vs. KM bar provide two totally separate vibes too, bar side being a little more upbeat and casual, steakhouse side a great option for more upscale dining, both offering incredible food and drinks. Seriously couldn't recommend this more and will absolutely be stopped every time we're in Kalispell from here forward! read more
