Then, we had some more time to kill, so we decided to grab some lunch before heading to the airport. We had done very well listening to our local friends so far this trip, so we asked them for one more recommendation. They recommended this place. And thank goodness they did. Ambiance was super cool. A lowkey location in a strip mall, the inside struck me like a nice, hippy couple decorated it. It was pretty chill vibes, as the kids say. Each member of the hippy couple brought their ethnic background to the table here, one Italian and one Portuguese. Pretty neat combination. They were very nice folks. Very good customer service. There are only two of them, though, so if there's a line, prepare to be in for a wait. I didn't mind, since our goal was to kill time anyway. Also, a side note, the inside of the store was very hot the day we came, so we opted to order and eat outside. There are a couple of tables and chairs out there, thankfully. As for the food, I forget exactly what we ordered, but I'm like 80% sure that I ordered the Chourico & Peppers (Spicy, smoked Portuguese sausage, slow cooked with ripe tomatoes, fresh bell peppers and yellow onions). Excellent sandwich. A nice, hearty, crispy, soft baguette stuffed with the meat concoction. And the meat was very flavorful. Very smoky sausage, which might have been just too heavy on its own, but it had some help from the peppers and onions. Really good stuff. I also got to try an Italian sandwich. I'm not sure which one at all. It was a special written on the board, so I can't find it on their regular menu, but it was also good. Fresh, simple ingredients. Same, delicious bread. Solid. But I would choose the Portuguese options every time, though, since that's a rarer cuisine in this country. Overall, I'm so glad we stopped here. I love supporting small business, I love trying new things, and I love the quaint little town of Bigfork, MT.

Amazingly soft bread, simple but delicious ingredients. Cons: It is very hot inside. I recommend eating outside. The service is good, but also slow, since it's just the two of them, so don't show up in a hurry. Tips: We got an Italian and a Portuguese sandwich, and enjoyed them both! You can't really go wrong ordering anything here.

When we arrived we were seated fairly quickly and attended too pretty frequently but not overly done. The beer variety was good, they had everything from pilsners, stouts, pale ales, etc. I grabbed a burger and my partner had fish and chips. Both tasty and good sized portions. My wife and I stopped here on our drive from Big Sky to West Glacier and had a blast! The Huckleberry Gin Fizz was delicious, packed with tangy citrus and huckleberry puree. The Farmer's Daughter was refreshing and flavorful, fused with cucumber and rosemary. Lastly, but certainly most unique, the Herbivore surprised us with it's fusion of gin, lime, basil, agave and... balsamic! Don't be scared off by the inclusion of vinegar, it complements the other ingredients perfectly. (You'll be happy you tried it.) We enjoyed our Whistling Andy experience so much that we stayed for two hours and purchased two bottles to take home. We're now excited to share the Cucumber Gin and the Pink Peppercorn Gin with our family and friends. If I'm ever ordering a drink while in Montana, I always ask the bartender if they have any Whistling Andy Gin behind the bar!

Check the board for the soup and home-baked item of the day. We discovered some gems that way, like the chicken and rice soup! You can also get half of most of their sandwiches, which delighted me. As did the tuna melt, and their iced tea on a hot day. Everyone comes to eat here: tourists, locals, on bikes, in trucks, from all around. If you arrive at lunchtime, you may encounter a wait but they have plenty of trees to park yourself under until it's your turn for a table.
