We came here one day when we were touring around Bigfork with some of the locals, some friends of ours, and on the way back home from a wicked awesome bison preserve, we stopped here for lunch, at the recommendation of our friends. So glad we did. First of all, the view. The view off the deck of Flathead Lake was beautiful, and it was really cool watching the boats dock and come grab a bite to eat. The service was ok. I think they were understaffed. But no major issues overall. She was really nice. We all got settled in, got our drinks, ordered some apps. I ordered the Blue Corn Chips and Salsa (Our House-Made Roasted Garlic-Tomatillo Salsa and Blue Corn Tortilla Chips). They were fine. Pick another app, if you're trying to decided between a few. For my main, I had the Bison Cowboy Burger (Local Bison Patty, Cheddar, BBQ Sauce & Bacon). All over the part of Montana we were in, bison burgers were everywhere. And thank goodness, because they are delicious. A nice sized patty, smothered in cheese, some fresh veg, and some of the best sweet potato fries I've had at a restaurant in a while. So good. I also got to try the Candied Bacon Bleu Burger (We Turned Bacon into Candy and add Bleu Cheese for one Amazing Burger Combo). Even if the bacon was candied, there was so little of it, you couldn't even tell. But the rest of the burger was aces. A great, tangy bleu sauce on top of a well charred burger patty. We were staying at the islander inn directly across from here and thought we'd check the place out. Awesome atmosphere! We were sat right away outside and were able to view the lake and mountains while we ate. Food and drinks were okay. Definitely don't come here expecting Michelin star food. The Raven has precisely three things going for it: location, location, and location. Unlike the restaurants on the main drag in town that look onto an uninspiring inlet, The Raven is smack on the water. We wanted to go to Sitting Duck, which is much nicer, but there was a long wait and we had a show to make, so we ended up here. Unfortunately the view is tarnished by a massive bulldozer perched on a dock just adjacent to where you're sitting, but still, on a beautiful sunny day with a breeze: it's worth it's weight in gold. We went full Huckleberry for our drinks: huckleberry lemonade for the kid, huckleberry marg for the lady, and huckleberry beer for the gentleman. All were excellent and the best part of the experience other than the whole being-on-the-water situation. Food was mostly not good. Our daughter had a soggy kids quesadilla but we loved how salty the fries were. The bison burger (third bison burger of the trip!) was OK even the tourist trap Freda's by Glacier probably had a better one. The green salad was by far the worst item and why we're ultimately ending up on three stars. It was literally a grocery market bag opened up--all yours for an outrageous fee. Service is quick, and they were respectful of the fact that we were under a time crunch. Anyway, see the first paragraph why you should come here. If we're ever in these parts again, we'll try a different spot. read more

Service was much quicker then the menu advertised "tiny kitchen and food made to order so be patient" (or something to that effect). They were pretty busy but absolutely crushed the delivery. The Bison burger had great flavor but was sober cooked a smidge. Not a huge deal. Salad was on point but would've been even better w buttermilk homemade ranch. All that said... go here. The raven is a special place for Montana, definitely emits costal vibes rather than mountains, but it did not disappoint. The food was yummy! For appetizers we got potstickers and an order of both types of fries. The potstickers were on the expensive side, $12 for five. The fries were yummy, but definitely tasted like they were frozen and reheated. I got the Pad Thai for my entree, the noodles were cooked to perfection, I just wish there was a little bit more flavor to them. On Wednesdays they have live music on the dock patio. You can also dip your toes (or paws) in the water. Brings hats and sunglasses, (maybe a hoodie for the breeze) it's a very exposed area. Upstairs is bright and sunny indoor and outdoor dining. The upstairs deck offers expansive views across Flathead. The indoor bar has wide windows to daydream out of. Food and drink prices are average+ but you're really here for the vibe and views. I've really enjoyed the Greek tacos and pad Thai. Drinks are great! They serve local Montana Whistling Andy Spirits. I also love the range of ciders and low-cal Montana seltzers. Staff is international diverse and although sometime the wait is long, the team is kind and always smiling. Great French fries especially after tasting a heavy handed pour. I ordered a farmhouse mule and you couldn't even tell with how much gin was in it. Usually complain that drinks are weak but not at the raven. Whistling Andy served here of course. Let me preface this by saying that my expectations were misplaced. After fishing on a beautiful river swarming with trout, I was a little too enthusiastic about the moist, flaky filet that would be the centerpiece of my fish taco. The taco. In short: vulgarity wrapped in failure. My culinary fantasy was replaced by the dull sting of neglect, a metallic aftertaste that clung to my palate like regret. With every bite, I was haunted by the tragic image of a Mrs. Paul's fish stick, languishing in the icy purgatory of late-stage freezer burn. On the positive side, the view of the lake is absolutely stunning. The staff were pleasant, and the local band was a nice touch. Next time, I'll focus on drinks on the deck. read more

I would go back, but I wouldn't reorder what I had, and I would have to leave the vegetarian friends behind. For some reason, I ordered pad thai. In Montana. Pad thai in Montana. Which is like ordering Hungarian goulash in Barbados or matzo ball soup in Iraq. All I could think of was the Lost Boys, "You're eating maggots, Michael". They have an Impossible Burger on the menu for vegetarians, but couldn't deliver because they had accidentally disintegrated their patties trying to defrost them in water. Maybe they were waterboarding them, I don't know. Instead, they have a sad $6 house salad with watery ranch or the thinnest, driest quesadilla in town. Keep the vegetarians home, and stick with the red state food: bison meatloaf, cowboy burger, or freedom fries, with a side of gun. read more

He let us try out some of the varieties on draft until we found what we were after. All the food is made fresh to order, and its all made right on site. You can for sure taste that! The sweet potato fries were a WOWZA. Holy fresh and that smoked pepper aioli dipping sauce was the the best! I got an order of the Friday night fish and chips with local walleye, yummmmmy! The tarter sauce was one of the best, it was DILL-icious! OH MY GOD the dill was such a home run. The place is a chill and low key vibe. I really REALLY wanted to like The Raven. With its picture perfect lakeside location, outdoor seating, nice tap list, and creative-sounding menu this place was an easy 5 star review waiting to happen. Sigh. I arrived with my daughter for a summer evening vacation meal. It was hot at our Airbnb and I didn't feel like cooking. I'd noticed The Raven earlier in the day and we decided to check it out. We were immediately seated in a gorgeous spot on the upper deck, overlooking the busy patio and dock below. We were quickly greeted by one friendly server, who cleaned a few glasses off our table. A few minutes later a different server brought our menus. And at some point the original server came to take our drink order, though soon the second server stopped by to take the drink order too. This pattern continued throughout our 1.5+ hour experience. The servers, while very friendly, seemed to be disorganized and disheveled. Eventually our food order was taken. I ordered the chicken pad Thai and my daughter ordered a Cowboy Up burger. Shortly after our order was taken, another customer at a nearby table told the server his burger was burnt. Miraculously, only a couple minutes later, she appeared with a new burger for him. Was it my daughter's burger? Perhaps. Over an hour later, as we watched tables who had arrived well after us receiving their food, and after several reassurances from both servers that our food was "on its way", I finally got my pad Thai from server #1, and a few minutes later server #2 brought out my daughter's burger. Even after all that, her burger was not properly prepared. The burger was overcooked and the thick slice of cheese on top was only partially melted. As for my pad Thai, it was fairly tasty but smothered in oil to the point I'm still feeling its effects hours later. Once our food arrived, we never saw our servers again until I had to flag one of them down for our check. I asked her what had happened to our order and she said it had gotten stuck behind a few "large tables" and also that there was a language barrier with the kitchen. I'm still not sure what exactly happened, and they were kind enough to comp two of our beverages, but I left feeling pretty disappointed that what should have been a no-brainer of a dinner experience turned into a nearly 2-hour slog. read more

Although this place has a lot going for it being on the lake with outdoor seating, it was highly disappointing that our waitress did not wear a mask even though it's required. We decided to just have a cocktail, after we had already ordered, and skipped our meal and left. Service people should understand that it's not about you, it's about your customer and you should wear what's required by law. Your customer shouldn't have to ask you to wear something that is required by law. The Famous Huckleberry Fizz was delicious and I was looking forward to trying out their fish tacos. I'll start out by saying that the whole experience here was nothing special but the awesome atmosphere and the incredible view of the lake make it totally worth it! My friends and I arrived on a Friday night at 7pm and were worried that we might end up waiting a while for a table but we totally lucked out and found a table overlooking the lake right away. We were in the perfect location on the upper level, right against the railing overlooking the lake and the boat docks. I'm not really sure if we had a server or if they do shared tables/tips because so many different staff came to our table throughout the night. That being said, we did a lot of waiting for things. It took a while to order our food, our drinks came out pretty quickly but it felt like we waited forever for our main entrees. This was a bummer because we were all starving. They must've sensed it because they brought up some chips and salsa to hold us over. I'm not sure of how long it took to get our food but it definitely took way too long. One friend ordered the fish tacos and wasn't blown away but said they were fine. One friend ordered a cheese burger and fries and absolutely loved her meal. As a pescatarian, I ordered the Impossible burger. Now I have been hearing about this vegetarian delicacy for at least a year now-it looks and tastes like a juicy burger but has no meat in it. I almost laughed out loud when my food arrived and it was a black bean and corn burger. They really should NOT be advertising this at the Impossible burger and if they just ran out, they should have told me that when I ordered. That being said, I really enjoyed my black bean burger and fries and ate every single bite. My friends and I also had the huckleberry margaritas which basically tasted like regular margaritas. There was a band setting up while we were eating and were about to start playing by the time that we left. I think it's super cool that they have live music down on the lower level by the boat dock. Speaking of the boat dock, there were probably about 6 boats parked there at a time and it was fun watching them come and go. The best thing about the food taking so darn long to come out is that we got to watch the sun set over the lake while eating dinner. read more
