This is the best food I've had traveling around in Montana. It's a little pricier than the other places, but it's worth every penny you spend. I ordered their grapefruit dirty martini. It would normally have grapefruit vodka in it, but I'm not a fan of vodka or any of its flavoring. The kind bartender substituted the alcohol to gin with a splash of grapefruit at no extra charge. I believe the bartender is the owner as it seemed to be a one man show. The same guy was our server, a bus boy, bartender, and our host! He was probably the cook too! Talk about wearing many hats! I ordered the golden and red beets with goat cheese for $12 and this came to the table looking like a colorful masterpiece. Every bite was delicious. The huckleberry creme brûlée was great! The huckleberries are hiding at the bottom of the ramiken. I'm a tourist and was on a mission to eat everything huckleberry and this dessert did not disappoint! It's a must try! My boyfriend ordered the wild mushroom crepe $16 which was roasted wild mushrooms, prosciutto and swiss cheese with mornay sauce. I thought the crepe was a little undercooked, but he absolutely loved it. I also thought it was a bit salty for my taste, but the mushrooms were tasty! I ordered the $16 grilled salmon and andouille sausage over spinach with tomatoes, fresh orange and red onion. I never heard of these two proteins together, but they make a dynamic duo! Honestly, the worst service I've ever experienced at a "fine dining" establishment. We waited more than 10 minutes for water, which came from the hostess. She explained there was a mixup with whom was our server and we would be helped shortly. More than 10 minutes later, we were finally greeted by our server. We ordered drinks and food, and requested bread. Her reply was "we're short on bread but I'll see what I can find". While the drinks came somewhat promptly, the rest of the night was again slow and disappointing. My dinner salad never arrived and since our server didn't come check on us, she never knew, we had to flag down the hostess again. My salad came with the meal. There was an excuse, and apologies for the slow service, but we won't be back. As other diners have noted, it was much better before. Service, and food both. read more

Had reservations for lunch fir 3 days. Didn't eat there as you aren't allowed to eat inside for lunch. So they weren't interested in 17 for lunch as they didn't want to wash inside table cloths. We had a fantastic meal in downtown Bigfork at Traditions Restaurant in the Bigfork, Inn. The atmosphere was quiet, and calm and the restaurant was decorated elegantly. We ordered four different entrees and they were all deliciously prepared with local flare. They have a large wine list as well. We almost cancelled when we looked at the prices on the menu the night before but after eating there we all agreed the food and service was excellent and worthy of the prices. We drove all day, arrived in Bigfork in pouring rain just before eight thirty, and ran to Traditions where they said the kitchen was closed. I get that it's tough times. All I can say is OMG. This place is tops. We came in a week ago tried all local restaurants and were even told this establishment was unsure due to frequent turnover. I felt discouraged but trusted my instinct. Well let me tell you . I want to hire the chef full time to feed us in Orlando Florida. The waiter Dylan was very attentive to our cocktails-appetizers n entrees -he was awesome!!My wife had the salmon and I had the pork tenderloin with cherry sauce. I literally licked the plate and my wife too. I recommend this place 100%. You won't be disappointed. My only regret is the chef won't accept my offer. I've always wanted to try this place... Finally had the opportunity what a disappointment. The food was terrible the cut of meat was grisly and tough. The chic was way over cooked and dry. It was have been because we have been in the upper 90's and we are heading into stage 2 fire restrictions. Would't recommend it even to my enemies. Didn't complain a all paid my Bill tipped the waiter well and left. Chef has been there for 2 1/2 years should be fired. Great restaurant. Quaint ambience. Very traditional food and large portions. I personally like my chicken fried steak with flour only not panco crusted, but that's not their fault. My husband really enjoyed the prime rib, of which he said it was the best he has had in a long time. The huckleberry sundae was so, so, so good. We even got extra huckleberry sauce. Every other place was 45min plus to seat two. This place was empty.(I should have took that sign) Server was nice got seated right away. I ordered a Belgian waffle with a poached egg. They served the waffle with the egg tossed on the waffle. My opinion it made the waffle soggy and was not that good. Not sure if it was the owner or cook but when they came out and saw I had not eaten much of if they asked how was it. I explained the waffle was not that great and tossing the poached egg right on it made it soggy. He proceeds to tell the that's how real Belgian waffles are made like it was a debate. I said I really done care how they do it I just didn't like it and I've had many other Belgian waffles not ever made like that. I paid the bill and left I will not be back. read more

Stumbled upon this place as we were walking in bigfork downtown. I got a cajun shrimp pasta, and it was good. The shrimp was cooked just right and the angel hair had good flavor. I think it maybe a little too cheesy for me, maybe less asiago would be better, but overall good dish. I also liked the rice on the side. read more

Delicious food and good views! My husband and I had dinner on their patio. While some other local restaurants are directly on water, I could still see the water which always makes me happy. I had Cajun shrimp pasta. He had the house schnitzel. They warned me mine would be very spicy, and while it was flavorful, it was far from hot. The schnitzel was a thicker cut than we normally have, but was also good. Our waitress was wonderful, checking on us appropriately for drinks. The kitchen was SLOW. It was fine for us as a couple enjoying the evening, but it would have been a problem if we had hungry children along. All the tables around us had the same long wait, so it didn't have anything to do with what we ordered. I'd still go back if we visit the area again! read more

We miss how it used to be! Wanted so badly to have the Cesar Salad with salmon....but the menu is gone. Now very French and soooo expensive! The lite menu is bird food at elephant prices. We were there on a Wednesday night. Took a while for someone to greet us at the host desk. There were truly two, 2, tables with patrons! Walked in on a Thursday night and we were the only table at the bar. It used to be you'd walk in and the place was packed with local Bigfork families. My kids always found a classmate to play with. Tonight, the burgers were hockey pucks and the chicken tenders were over fried. They remade all of our meals, but chicken was just blah and the burger looked char broiled but the cheese was not melted. I heard the owner walk in the kitchen earlier and tell the staff to put less salt on the fries. Then walk in another time to relay some other comment about the food. Our food gets returned twice and we had to ask for him to come over. His answer was to tell us the pub menu is going away and they are offering more high end dining because that's what Bigfork wants. His answer to our complaint was to pay for our food so we would leave and never come back. We are Bigfork and we won't be back I miss the family friendly restaurant we knew. This used to be a favourite place for dinner and drinks - until new management took over. Have been visiting for 20+ years. Most recently stopped in for burgers and beer. This was after the dinner/theatre rush. Took almost an hour to get food. When it came, both burgers were burnt. Sent them back - they were replaced with burgers we didn't order, the lettuce was limp and wilted (worthy of garbage) and half the fries. Brought this to management's attention and was told they were tired - they had been open for 4 hours. Management showed no interest in maintaining us as customers. This has been my favorite restaurant in Bigfork since I was a child. It's consistently good and if you find a favorite on the menu, it's likely to still be there for years to come. And I mean that in a good way! I almost always go for the Haus schnitzel, and can practically clean my plate. My other favorite is the duck - delicious cherry reduction sauce, amazing crunch, and the rice pilaf on the side compliments it very well. Can't pass on the Mud Pie for dessert even if I tried! This place was way better when it was the Bigfork Inn. Then it became Traditions. Screwed the whole menu up. This last few weeks we went and the service was terrible. We were seated and no one acknowledged us for over 15 mins. No water nothing. Took our order portions were extremely small compared to the party of eight seating across us. Charged over $8.00 for a Caesars salad that had no lie four bites to it. Forgot my husbands toast for his scampi. Which was a joke at $20 plus dollars. My risotto was cold. Very disappointed. Do your self a favor and go to the Showtyme. François who owned it and is now not the owner screwed the whole place up. And never once asked how our meal was. The waitress was kind enough to give us desert which was the best thing out of the whole night. And I believe she did that because she could tell how how irritated we were. Our reservation was for 7:30 we sat down in a timely manner but it took over two hours for 2 meals and a shared salad mind your we got two bites each. Expensive meal with shitty food. read more

I also shared the beet salad with my niece and we were both still raving about it the next day. The chef has done a great job creating art on a plate and the owner is delightful. My review of Traditions at BFInn is in response of a few of the negative Yelps. Traditions is trying to fill a much needed hole in our dining options. When in Rome has closed and Showthyme is under new ownership targeting comfort food. Owner-operator Francois is starting a new fine-dining experience in Downtown Bigfork. Gone are the large portion comfort food choices that give the old BFInn that Bavarian feel. Now we have a clear French menu with Brasserie feel. The unhealthy large portions have been replaced with exquisite bistro entrees. Obviously, Steak Frites, French onion soup and specials are made with care and are as good as any Parisian Bistro. Prices a perfectly in line with what costumers at the old Showthyme are used to. Proprietor Francois Zunni deserves all the support from anyone who enjoys fine-dining. Big-portion cheep food diners have many other dining choices, but Traditions is first in Flathead Valley fine dining $$$ read more

Sad to say that I won't be dining here in the future. Made a special trip from out of town for my birthday to what used to be my favorite restaurant in Montana because I loved the food and the ambience of the Inn. Unfortunately, some people from California have taken over there and replaced the German-themed menu along with the sweet little white curtains at the windows and the starched white tablecloths. Now the tables are covered with black cloths and the whole atmosphere is quite sterile in appearance. Risotto seems to be popular with the chef because it was featured in nearly every entree, artsy presentations meant to divert from the small portions. For my husband's 80th birthday, we decided to dine at Bigfork Inn. We didn't know that the Huckleberry Festival would be blocking all downtown traffic. We called the restaurant, explaining that we couldn't walk blocks to get there for our reservation. The owner told us an alternate route and waited a block away for us, and advised the police we were coming. He literally walked us to a parking place right in front of the door. He really went the extra mile! The waitstaff all were conservative--no tattoos, nose rings or tongue studs. No purple hair. The music was nice dinner music, not too loud--even some Fleetwood Mac and Michael Buble. The food was perfect, unique, special, but not too off the wall. Our waitress, Shannon, knew just how to wait on us--keeping tabs but not "interrupting." I even loved the silverware. It was elegantly simple yet heavy enough for us old folks to get a good grip. The temperature was not too hot or too cool. I didn't need a sweater, and no drafts. I bet you think I wrote this for a free meal. No, I received no compensation for this review, but a great dinner. cannot go unpublished. I was a food critic in my younger journalism days and still pay attention to details. I believe in recognizing good service, good food, and good management. Thank you, Francois Zanni, the owner, for a perfect birthday dinner. He deserves much success! Recently renovated and looks and feels very inviting. They took the back meeting room and made it into Keenan's Pub with fun easy dishes to enjoy while watching sports on the large flat screen TV. Had their lobster for my birthday dinner and OMG was that ever succulent and tasty. Highly recommend it to anyone! read more

We've been coming to the Bigfork Inn for years. I was always pleased with the food until this last time. I believe there are new owners. Perhaps that is the issue. Service is fantastic! The tootsie rolls were tasty as always and would order them again as an appetizer. I ordered the duck. There was a breast and a leg. The skin was soft. The duck was rubbery. It was supposed to have an orange glaze but was more of a jus. Why would you pour the jus over duck skin? I was expecting the same quality of the duck as the last time I had it there but obviously there is a different chef. I have to say their fingerling potatoes are "to die for". I ordered a gin and tonic and was told they were out of tonic water. They were also out of two of their entrees. We got there at 5:30 and were the second guests in the restaurant. The prices have gone up considerably since the last time we were there; I guess because of new ownership. read more

The food was very good and the prices were not bad. I had New York steak and my wife had Cajun Shrimp Pasta. Both dishes were very good. I don't think the home style fries were very great, basically they were chunks of potato that were over cooked.
