Beef Steak Dip
Abby A.

There is nothing about A Bar Montana that seems fake or phony-its just a local country hide out that serves pretty good food, beer on tap in frosted glasses, and live music in the open air back yard with an amazing view. One warning- they only take cash! But they also have an ATM to help you out. We really enjoyed the laid back feel, tried the fried pickles and mushrooms (yum!), and told old stories with old friends- the kind of thing you do at "A Bar" like this.

Such a cool bar!

This is a must stop in the Bigfork MT area. A really neat bar with good food. The nachos were yummy! A big portion of mini corn dogs. Our server was super nice and fun. The prices are reasonable. If it wasn't so cold, we would have sat in the backyard area of the bar. Neat sitting area with great views. I bet this place is busy in the summer months!

Swan dip with roast beef sandwich

A-bar is a local spot in Bigfork, MT. It is one of the few restaurants in town that stays open throughout the winter due to how many recommend it. I've got to say, coming in town for a wedding was a perfect excuse to come on over and visit this place for myself. Historically this place has caught fire at least 3 times in the past but with the current owners in place I would fare to say that there won't be a fourth. The one manager whose name I did not catch (blonde, short & petit) was nothing short of spectacular during a busy rush. She was quick, efficient, and kind while serving drinks to a full bar and packed restaurant. There was one brunette bartender with piercings that was not very friendly but the manager more than made up for her lack of hospitality. The drinks are at very fair prices and the food is bomb! I highly recommend either the Cowboy burger or the Swan Dip. The roast beef served in that dish with the bread is a killer combination. Outside there are spots for a fire and outdoor games families can play. There was even a live band on Friday too. Great job A-bar!

Epic Burger and Fries

These guys serve amazing burgers and fries and onion rings! They are my favorite place on this side of the lake to stop for a bite. The only reasons they aren't 5 star is they are cash only.... Which can be a pain, and the bathrooms and outside areas aren't accessible... there are stairs involved.

Great food! Great service! Great live music! May look a little sketchy from the outside but trust us, it's worth it!

Stay away from "Taco Tuesday". Rather poor excuse for tacos. No credit cards so bring cash. Friendly place and good service.

If you're looking for a great meal with one of the best lakefront views in Montana, stop reading…read morereviews and just go to The Sitting Duck. We had an absolutely fantastic experience. The food was incredible from start to finish, and the service was even better. Bella was our waitress and was thoughtful, attentive, efficient, and checked on us frequently without ever being intrusive. Riley was also wonderful--bringing drinks, checking on our table, and making sure we had everything we needed. Behind the bar, Drew had fantastic recommendations and helped us discover some great drinks. They made my daughter's 10th birthday super special!!! Speaking of drinks- don't miss the fun cocktail that comes with a rubber duck. They also have an excellent wine list and a great beer selection. What really stood out was how friendly the entire staff was. We visited with our two children and our two Golden Retrievers, and everyone made us feel welcome. While we waited for our food, the kids had a blast playing by the lakeshore, throwing rocks, and enjoying the beautiful setting. As for the occasional negative reviews--this is a very popular lakefront restaurant, and during peak times it gets busy. That's part of dining at one of the most sought-after spots in Bigfork. Relax, enjoy the view, order a drink, and soak in the experience. Great food, amazing staff, beautiful location, dog-friendly, family-friendly, and worth every minute. We will absolutely be back.

Great location right on the water. Staff were friendly and the drinks were inexpensive.read more

The truck was in the lower lot at the far north. I get it if it was there for overnight, up by the main entrance or even extremely busy which I'm guessing they weren't or he wouldn't had time to case his parking lot for vehicles left there for a hour. This owner needs to figure out its the locals who support you 9 months out of the year after the tourist leave and this is one way not to treat your clientele..

These owners seem to have never been in this business or should be. First you are greeted by " hAve you ever eaten here before" (1st clue) second the waitress tells you how to order from the menu(like we've never seen a menu) then we go to our drinks order ( no beer on tap) owner say I am leaning toward hard cider ( that's going to sell well) beers in a can I guess. Next we order from a very limited menu. When we get our food it is served in a pie tin! The Mac and cheese was horrid, had some sort of sauce I can't describe. A box ( Kaft) Mac would have been much better. My wife had something that resembles nachos but she could not eat hers either. They must have a bad problem as they kept asking " how is it" I give them 2 months before they close. Please save your money and stomach don't eat here. Prices vs value were poor, price range was $7-12 and drinks are average. Food is based around hot dogs, German link sausage and ground beef , you can't get a hamburger here. Also this was the worst place I have ever eaten in 50plus years!

This is the best food I've had traveling around in Montana. It's a little pricier than the other…read moreplaces, but it's worth every penny you spend. I ordered their grapefruit dirty martini. It would normally have grapefruit vodka in it, but I'm not a fan of vodka or any of its flavoring. The kind bartender substituted the alcohol to gin with a splash of grapefruit at no extra charge. I believe the bartender is the owner as it seemed to be a one man show. The same guy was our server, a bus boy, bartender, and our host! He was probably the cook too! Talk about wearing many hats! I ordered the golden and red beets with goat cheese for $12 and this came to the table looking like a colorful masterpiece. Every bite was delicious. The huckleberry creme brûlée was great! The huckleberries are hiding at the bottom of the ramiken. I'm a tourist and was on a mission to eat everything huckleberry and this dessert did not disappoint! It's a must try! My boyfriend ordered the wild mushroom crepe $16 which was roasted wild mushrooms, prosciutto and swiss cheese with mornay sauce. I thought the crepe was a little undercooked, but he absolutely loved it. I also thought it was a bit salty for my taste, but the mushrooms were tasty! I ordered the $16 grilled salmon and andouille sausage over spinach with tomatoes, fresh orange and red onion. I never heard of these two proteins together, but they make a dynamic duo! I'd like to say it's a warm salad and it was so good! The charred salmon was the star of this dish!
