First time trying out this place with friends. They didn't take reservations at the time we went, and we know it is popular, so we showed-up about 15 minutes before they opened. Good thing, as the line got pretty big, so if you want a seat, you may want to arrive closer to opening time. I had seen that the menu photos with prices were pretty old and they don't list them on the website, so I snapped some to post.

Clever name. Inspired menu. The chef managed to implement cashews, strawberries, foie gras, and kiwi into various rolls. Who knew an off-the-beaten-path Montana sushi bar would be like the mother ship calling me home? This place is fun, funky, and offers sushi rolls with some of the oddest (and tastiest) flavor profiles I've ever inhaled. I'm not a drinker, but my friends said their cocktails are--and I quote--"booze-tastically ah-mah-zing." I'll say this much, it's been a lonnnnng time since I dropped that much money on sushi. The place is spendy, but worth every penny. And if you like spicy food, you've found your new mecca. The HOT RIP roll? It brought the heat--and then some. Hell, they even offer spicy edamame. Bless their hearts. Meanwhile, the staff was lively and jovial--always a good sign. Clearly, they dig their jobs and, more importantly, each other. Props.

Visiting from Seattle, I was struggling trying to find a fire top quality fresh seafood dish. I was staying in kalispell. I tried the Ramen house- silly me.. Ramen was fire! Sushi wasn't their thing (and the server was extremely rude to my grandma.) I came here with my grandma- who doesn't particularly like raw seafood & she still found food she liked. She got the firecracker shrimp, SO delicious. I got the raw Scallops. DELISH. Dylen was our cook at the sushi bar & her customer service is awesome. She answered all questions we had & the food was impeccable. (Extra points for modifying my sushi how I like, I'm kind of picky!) Our waitress was very welcoming as well. Thank you Savannah! This is most definitely going to be my spot coming back in the future, 10/10 worth the drive. Check it out! I got the Big Bear, add lemon slices. & She got the Hor Rip!

This restaurant was everything we hoped it would be! We are visiting family in Polson and decided to make the drive up to Big Fork to try out the only sushi place around. My husband lived in Japan for 3 years and fell in love with sushi while he was there. Needless to say, he can be a bit picky about quality. A friend recommended this place to him saying that the owner/chef actually spent a good amount of time in Japan as well. We were not disappointed! Yes, Saketome's menu is mostly 'fusion' rolls but they knock it out of the park! There's some nigiri and sashimi on the menu as well. We got the cherry bombs and walu nigiri, both we ate too quickly to snap a pic. Then the electric feel, grow wings and the OP rolls. All were fantastic. Honorable mentions to the bartender as well! Drinks were top notch and mixed to perfection.

    Cool decor.

We eat in the restaurant. Our waitress was more then dis-pleasing, off putting, rude and un-welcoming. I spent over 110.00$ and our families meal of bar food. Shout out to the cooks, food was good as expected. I left a decent tip. My husband took our minor kiddos out back, while myself my sister-in-law, her fiance tried to go to the bar order green tea shots. I wanted to toss my sister-in-law and have a moment. We were meet w a bar tender who tried to force us away w returning my tip from our meal in the restaurant. I declined and told her that was the waitress tip; she told me too not worry about it. It would normally have grapefruit vodka in it, but I'm not a fan of vodka or any of its flavoring. The kind bartender substituted the alcohol to gin with a splash of grapefruit at no extra charge. I believe the bartender is the owner as it seemed to be a one man show. The same guy was our server, a bus boy, bartender, and our host! He was probably the cook too! Talk about wearing many hats! I ordered the golden and red beets with goat cheese for $12 and this came to the table looking like a colorful masterpiece. Every bite was delicious. The huckleberry creme brûlée was great! The huckleberries are hiding at the bottom of the ramiken. I'm a tourist and was on a mission to eat everything huckleberry and this dessert did not disappoint! It's a must try! My boyfriend ordered the wild mushroom crepe $16 which was roasted wild mushrooms, prosciutto and swiss cheese with mornay sauce. I thought the crepe was a little undercooked, but he absolutely loved it. I also thought it was a bit salty for my taste, but the mushrooms were tasty! I ordered the $16 grilled salmon and andouille sausage over spinach with tomatoes, fresh orange and red onion. I never heard of these two proteins together, but they make a dynamic duo! I'd like to say it's a warm salad and it was so good! The charred salmon was the star of this dish!

My friends that we were staying with were locals, and they recommended A Bar, so we knew we had to try it out. It was a Friday or a Saturday night, and we arrived after nightfall, so we were worried there wouldn't be anywhere to sit, but we miraculously found a nice six top with a great view of the karaoke that was about to start. Looking around, the ambiance was really cool. It had a heavy dive bar vibe. I could perfectly picture Garth Brooks singing in the corner with a rowdy crowd packing the place. A lot of the tables were talking or shouting friendily to one another, showing me that there were a lot of locals and/or regulars there. But also, the place sold merch, as if it were a tourist attraction. A very interesting blend. Service was great. He was just a cool dude that efficiently brought to us everything we ordered. Beer showed up in a hurry, the food came out timely and nice and hot. Very nice fella. As for the food, it was surprisingly very good. Like, the best food we ate the entire time we were in Montana. We opened up with the A Bar Nachos (Corn tortilla chips smothered with melted cheddar, refried beans, taco meat, diced tomatoes, olives, jalapeno, and green onions. Served with salsa and sour cream. Wow! These were good nachos. First of all, they were huge. You can't have small plate of nachos, it's not a good look. Second of all, they were layered beautifully. Not all the toppings were topped on top, they were layered in between layers of chips, leaving no boring bites even towards the end. Third of all, they added beans. Not everyone does that, but everyone should, because it spreads well and they're a great meat substitute. Just amazing nachos. For my main meal of the night, I ordered the Cowboy Burger (1/3 pound Angus Patty, lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheddar, onion rings, and barbecue sauce on a grilled Brioche bun). Also awesome. A huge patty, cooked perfectly, sitting on a bun that was hearty enough to support it, stacked high with crispy onion rings and skewered with a giant steak knife to really set the presentation off right. A little fresh veg, a good amount of sauce, and a literal mountain of tater tots really made this a super satisfying meal. I also got to try the Shrimp Basket (Crispy Breaded shrimp, deep fried and served with French fries, cocktail sauce and lemon). These were nice. Nice, crispy shrimp, crispy tots, nothing was too greasy. A nice way to end the meal. Or so I thought that was the end. At the last second, I saw on their specials board that they had a huckleberry cheesecake. We were on the way out already, so I ordered it to go, and when I got it home, I naturally paired it with some Tillamook huckleberry ice cream and had one of the best nights of my life.

If you're interested in nachos, get the nacho app. It is very delicious. If they have a special huckleberry dessert, definitely get it.
