The first thing people do when they hear about this place is make a face. Lol but I can't tell you that we have gone about 20/25 times now within the past few years and not a single one of us has ever been sick. The food is surprisingly good and swapped out often with fresh stuff. The service on the other hand is awful. You'll be lucky if you get a refill or even a pass by the table when it isn't them either seating you or giving you your check. Also, don't get me started on the restroom. We honestly go and wash our hands elsewhere, prior to arriving so we can avoid using it as it's old & dingy. Aside from that though, it's pretty good & clean for an older interior. The building is a retrofit grocery store and looks can be deceiving. The buffet self-service arrangement is quite large and there are many varieties of traditional entrees to choose as well as shushi which I did not sample. Five bays of ten foot lengths are quite striking. The presentation of brightly lit entrees produced by a series of floodlights makes for an appetizing appearance. I particularly liked the shrimp, teriyaki chicken on a stick, the beef and vegetables. The egg drop soup was steaming hot as were all the entrees. This place is an oddity for sure. The food is EXCELLENT buffet food. I usually never touch sushi on a buffet but I tried nearly every roll and they were good. All hot dishes were of good quality. Great variety. I will definitely return. BUT the service/staff are terrible. You would not want to go here if you care about that. We were not greeted on arrival. We were never spoken to. No one smiled. And we were not thanked as we paid and left. Literally no words were exchanged from and staff. Cleanliness: it is very old and booths are broken down showing extreme wear. Register area cluttered with fortune cookies on the floor that not a single staff bothered to pick up. Table tops appeared to be wiped down, I never witnessed it but there was no food remnants on our table when we sat down. The floor of the buffet area seemed clean/swept. I didn't look too closely at the dining floor - the fortune cookies that remained there during our entire dining held my attention. It took everything I had not to pick them up myself :) And... water will cost you. ALL drinks are charged, no big deal to me just wasn't expecting water to be charged. Tasty, affordable and been around since before I was born. I always get their hot tea for my beverage and then you just load up on whatever sounds good to you. They're usually good about keeping fresh food out and swapping out old but sometimes you catch them at a bad time. The decor is lovely though the lighting is rather bright. We were treated to lunch by a friend and we were a little skeptical when the sign said Asian Buffet and Sushi. Ok it wasn't our choice but he was treating and said this was his go to place when in Kalispell. Ok we arrived at a few minutes before the really opened (we weren't paying attention) but they seated us and said it would be about 10 minutes before we could dig into the buffet. Ok no problem and sorry we were early but the door was unlocked. She took our drink order and seated us in a booth. Decor is super simple usual Asian restaurant style with a smattering of scenery pictures on the walls and pretty sparse. But clean and the booths didn't seem broken down. There are also tables for seating too. So while waiting there were a lot of people lining the door to be seated as we watched them hurriedly putting all the yummy goodness into the buffet bins. As they seated a few more people we were finally given the ok to start our decent upon the vast array of food. First off I'm going to review the sushi. They had many different rolls to choose from neatly sliced and displayed with some sauce on some and others not. They had sashimi that looked actually really good and all the sides of wasabi, pickled ginger and soy sauce. My husband was the one to eat the sushi and sashimi and he said it was pretty good. The wasabi was fresh and was the ginger. Wow sushi in Montana was amazing but on an all you can eat buffet. I just wanted to save my room for the things he didn't try. Ok my plate consisted of sweet and sour chicken. It is separate from the sauce you put your fried chicken pieces on your plate then spoon the sauce over it. The chicken was actually white meat pieces that I had and were moist and very flavorful. I also tried the Orange peel chicken which too was very tasty. They had three types of soups and I grabbed my husband a bowl of the egg drop which he loved and went back for a couple more bowls!! I chose miso soup and they had hot sour too. The chow mein was the usual spaghetti type noodles with stir fried cabbage and carrots it was flavorful and filling. The rice was a little dry but hey it's fried rice and most I've had is. They have a dessert part with fresh fruit, coconut cake, macaroons and soft serve ice cream. I opted for the bananas with this red sauce on them, the coconut cake and oh ya a fried donut that was sugar coated. Yum yum. So I was truly skeptical when I read the reviews before coming here. But we've been twice now and the second time it was just as good if not better. All the food was very flavorful and I told my husband it might be they use MSG but who cares once in awhile. Pleasantly surprised with this buffet, and it satisfied the Chinese food craving. My husband and I arrived around 12:45pm for lunch, and were quick to be seated. When we were at the buffet, there were kitchen staff switching out the food trays for fresh, which was nice to see. I really think the time you arrive to eat matters (way before the transition from lunch to dinner menu). The food could have been kept hotter, though. My husband wondered if there was a microwave available! There were about 15 or so entrees, some more exciting than others, like the General Tso chicken and stir fry veggies with baby corn. They also had fried chicken drumsticks, chicken poppers, and french fries available (like a kids menu). The fried chicken drumsticks weren't very crispy crunchy, but the flavor was delicious. We also really enjoyed the potstickers. I also tried the hot and sour soup, which was bland, but add soy sauce and white pepper and it was delicious. We didn't try the sushi, but will next time (there will be a next time!). For dessert, my husband enjoyed the fruits and we tried their yummy tiramisu squares - loved it! Soft, creamy, and not too sweet. Staff was fairly young and friendly, and it was refreshing to know they were all Asian. There was also an older asian lady hand-rolling the sushi rolls. Took a star off because there was a guy vacuuming (kicking up dust) the carpet while we were eating. Also, the staff kept clanging dishes loudly right next to our table throughout our meal, which was pretty disruptive. It was great to find such a place since mostly everything is closed on Labor Day in addition to every Sunday. It would be very miserable of not being able to find a restaurant after hiking for 10+ hours. Food was great for the price. The only thing is about having more COVID restrictions. They have a nice variety of veggie stirfrys (with meat). Its a little greasy....but not any different then most Chinese food. Coconut Chicken, Sesame Chicken, General Tso's, Chicken on a Stick, Eggrolls, Potstickers, Sweet N Sour, Butter Chicken, Stir Fried Rice Noodles, Chinese Green Beans....just a few of the selections to choose from. Go when it is busiest to get the freshest food. Its always busy at lunch time. Sushi is supermarket sushi, so don't expect a lot of flavor there but it's all you can eat too.
