This review is about the Columbia Falls location. From my experience the past 5 years, the Kalispell location does a good job w/ their bowls. My bowl at the CFalls location was absolutely the grossest "poke" I've had. If I hadn't just paid$18.90 for their 'Small' sized bowl, I would've thrown it away. Not only is it too expensive for what it is, the ingredients are cheap and the sauces poorly made. It was just some lukewarm rice with a bunch of regular mayo mixed in, and chunky cut vegetables. All the other "sides" you can get were skimped on. If you want raw tuna (the "Poke" part) it's $1.50 extra. If you want seaweed salad, it's extra. If you pay with a credit card, it's extra. They don't have a public bathroom. Really, it's the low quality of food that I'm most bummed about. I really wanted to support this business in CF, but I can't. It's a really cozy spot to sit down at too. A menu full of specialty poke bowls or a build your own, and I love it. To all the people who are not familiar with boba tea and banh mi...this is not the real representation. I came at 10:45 am when they had their OPEN sign on. The owner told me they didn't open until 11:00 am so I waited. I ordered a huckleberry boba tea with minimal sweetness. It turned out to be super sweet but the boy at the counter was nice enough to remake it. They don't have enough business to have fresh boba. They microwave it instead of making fresh boba daily. Therefore the boba clumped together when you drank it. The banh mi was better than expected but the fresh baked bread it was served on is not a traditional French baguette. It looks like a hoagie bun. This would be the equivalent of serving a hot dog on a slice of Wonderbread. I give them an "A" for effort but a "C+" as an overall grade. This new spot is awesome! From the fish market to the ready to go meals to the boba and banh mi it's a hard yes from me. Fresh, homemade bread and lots of fresh veggies. My first time we had: The pork meatball sandwich Super tender perfectly seasoned on a homemade bread with lots of fresh veg The roasted pork sandwich Not what I ordered but definitely my favorite! So much flavor and lots of food. The special sandwich Super tasty and lots of cool ingredients. Pork on pork on pork. Delicious! We had the coconut taro boba as well. Really creamy and good. I added tapioca and taro root but the taro has me a little squished out. Next time I stuck to my fave. It was scrumptious! I also got a big jar of kimchi to go. As recommended, didn't open it without covering because it's a little gassy. Chi said she can make even more spicy! Tasty! Service is great and everyone is happy a huge plus for me! read more

I adore this place. The inside is VERY cute, and it seems like a nice spot to hang out. The menu is huge and can be a little confusing for people who don't usually get boba, but I LOVE the variety. Yes, the servers are younger, but they're all really friendly! I've never been disappointed on that front. The milk teas are always delicious. I've tried the matcha, lavender, and Thai. The first time I came in the boba pearls were the perfect consistency and were fresh, but the next two times, they were really hard and not chewy. LOVE THIS PLACE!! Best little Asian spot in Kalispell. I recommend the BBQ CHICKEN BAHN MI sandwich and a Thai tea w/ boba!! I always ask for more of the pickled veggies but they never throw in extra... and I ask every.... time... BUT the owner is so cute and sweet!!! I was thrilled to find a poke restaurant on my most recent visit to Kalispell but unfortunately, it won't become one of my regular stops when I'm in town. The scallops are listed as raw, but they are dry and chewy and don't have the flavor or texture of raw. Avocado is an up charge and you get one tiny scoop of smashed avocado. The tuna is decent and the manga and edamame were plentiful. Overall, it was edible but the quantity and quality definitely do not live up to the pricing. read more

Delicious. We ordered the Viet Special banh mi and the grilled pork banh mi as well as a Viet milk coffee and Royal Honey milk tea. Everything was delicious. The sandwiches were both great, simple banh mi's. Delicious salty pork and sausage on the Special and the grilled pork had that characteristic Viet salty, sweet, fish sauce funk. The veggies were fresh and crisp, tho I usually like a little more "pickle bite" to my pickled veg. The BEST part of the banh mi was the roll. I've had banh mi in tons of different cities and this roll was unbelievably delicious; the PERFECT crisp crust, and they must do a cold ferment or something during the proof because the yeast flavor was amazing. The Viet milk coffee was sweet and STRONG. The milk tea was also one of the best I've had anywhere. Tea flavor can sometimes be masked in a milk tea but not here. We had kind of a goofy time trying to order due to covid masks, a plastic barrier at the cash register, and possibly a new employee up front but it all worked out in the end. Chi was working up front too and was so sweet and excited to serve us. Came here on a visit to my In Laws was surprised to find a Vietnamese cafe. The owner is super nice and the Bahn Mi sandwiches were awesome as the bread is perfect. I came here specifically for the vegan bánh mì and I was not disappointed. The flavors are on point and I am just so thankful to have an option that is plant based in Kalispell. The options in this town are underwhelming every time I come to visit family, and when you do find tofu options at some restaurants (I won't name names) they put no thought/effort into the tofu, as if they just warm it up with no seasoning or browning or coloring to it. Basically looks like it did in the package, but warmed up. ‍ Hardly anyone offers plant based sauces which are available in every grocery store or restaurant food truck services these days And the readily available mock meats you can buy Everywhere. Not only does Chi cafe know how to 'season and cook the tofu', but they actually had a vegan Mayo and spread for the sandwiches. Who would've thought something so easy to obtain and accommodate to peoples' dietary needs in 2020 could make a customer so happy? The more these local restaurants wake up and advertise and expand their healthy plant based options, the more they'll see customers like me ready to throw their money at them and make it rain $$$ In the mean time, I'll mostly stick to the grocery stores who have one upped the local cafes by having all things plant based and by taking mine and every other herbivore's money who lives and visits the valley. This is a praise for Chi Cafe and a rant to the unaware business owners who aren't up to date with current restaurants trends. I live in a city where you can get something as simple as the beyond burger with vegan mayo and a vegan bun at almost every single burger joint and there is literally not one restaurant in all of Flathead Valley that sells this.
