Trout filet with veggies and a hazelnut / citrus vin8

Tupelo Grille in Whitefish , MT was chosen for dinner tonight. Located on the main drive in Whitefish, this place is fine dining. The decor contains tin ceiling tiles, brick walls, lots of dark stained wood and eclectic art on the walls. The vibe is cool and special. The wait staff was attentive and great about presentation of specials. We ordered crawfish and shrimp cakes with remoulade and celery leaves. This was amazing with the slaw enhancing the appetizer. Reward your taste buds and order this dish. The beet salad had whipped feta, hazelnut brittle, and preserved lemon vinegarette. Again flavor was salty, peppery but could of used a hint of sweetness like candied pecans for crunch. Our entree was the crusted trout filet with veggies in a hazelnut / citrus brown butter. The crusted trout was good and the veggies were perfectly done but the flavor was minimal. The ambiance here is great. You expect a very special meal is this very nice venue. The staff was on their "A" game. The food was good but felt they need a small enhancement to vault them over the top. Tupelo Grille is a place you should try for a special evening.

Went to Tupelo Grill for dinner. Service was a little on the slower side as it seemed like the bar tender was also waiting tables. They had someone come around with water which I thought at first was our server but it wasn't. The food was very good, and would recommend if you are looking for a good meal in whitefish, MT!

This place was pretty good they have a bar side with life music and a restaurant side for dinner service. We tried an array of things: Cocktails: affordable housing, Aperol Spritz , old fashioned the Smokey Smokey whiskey flight. They were all wonderful. Food: Beet salad, shrimp and grits, New York steak and the lamb rack. Everything had great flavor, was it the best I have had, no it wasn't but it was really good and all plates were cleared. This place had a nice ambiance and I would certainly recommend it for a lovely date night. Great service as well.

Wow! This is a Fantastic Restaurant in 'downtown' whitefish. We started with a lot of questions about the cocktails, and the waitress got some additional info from the bar tender. Then, when we ordered drinks, we got an extra one! The waitress said the bartender (Alec) wanted to make sure we were happy with our drinks. And were we ever! The drinks we ordered were great and the extra one we fought over! We got the daily special appetizer-- wild mushrooms cooked in a cream sherry sauce and served over crostini with a little greens and truffle oil. They might have been the best mushrooms we've had! My partner got the 14 oz rib eye, cooked medium rare. The steak has a crispy crust. It melted in your mouth. The onion fig sauce was delicious. I had the blackened shrimp with grits. They were the best shrimp and grits I've ever had, there was a cream cheese jalapeño sauce that I was a bit suspicious of, but that made the dish. I hope we make it back to whitefish so I can come back here!

Just resting after a fabulous Sunday brunch! Started with a Bloody Mary and we asked that it not be too spicy -- and it was perfect with a little zing, but didn't take our heads off. I ordered the fried chicken eggs Benedict. The chicken batter had a dill flavor which added to the taste. The has browns were crispy and the biscuits to die for. It was sooooo good! My sister had the fried chicken and waffles, also excellent. Portions are large and the prices are reasonable. Our server was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed our culinary experience.

Wasn't sure what to expect once we entered. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The server, Penny was bubbly and offered great suggestions. We started with the most amazing Pimento Cheese plate, incredible! The Cesar salad was not traditional...but better. I had the Fried Chicken and it was a standout! My husband had the Bison tenderloin which was equally memorable! The downside to this spot, it's not near where we live in S.F.

The people and the food were amazing - great live music. Wonderful southern cooking if that's what you're looking for.

The banana Pudding, and the Bread putting across the table.

I love the lighting, I personally tried the catfish and enjoyed it, The Bison was also pretty good. But the main thing I enjoyed was the Banana Pudding, it was honestly one of the best things I've eaten. It was gone way too quickly. And the servers were polite and on top of things.

Quite possibly the best restaurant I've been to in 2025. This place is very popular. We were here in the off season and it was still difficult to get a reservation. I'm so glad we chose this place for our special occasion dinner because everything is absolutely perfect. The staff here is excellent. Prompt efficient service. It's clear they care about everything being to their customer's satisfaction. We ordered the must try Biscuits. The best value on the menu at only $4 for two. Absolutely fabulous. Best biscuits I ever remember having. If only you could get a side of honey to go with them. We ordered the soup of the day which was clam chowder. Excellent soup. It wasn't overly thick or creamy. It was just perfect. Huge bowl was only $14. My other half ordered the pork which was $39 and she described as the most tender pork she ever had. I got a fish special which was Halibut. Best Halibut I ever had. Both dishes were exquisitely presented and had perfect accompaniments. Both were HUGE. We all know the fancy restaurant that has great food but tiny portion. This place has the same great food but an enormous portion. We were way too full for desert so we got the bread pudding to go and ate it for breakfast the next day. Just like the entrees it was a ridiculously huge portion. If we are ever in the area again we'll be back

Came in with a business colleague for dinner on a Wednesday night and it was slammed, we could only get a 745 reservation but we were seated promptly. Waitress was very good, prompt service and friendly. Ordered the tuna poke for our appetizer and the shrimp and grits for dinner. Asked the waitress to pick between short rib and shrimp and she said shrimp was amazing. So turns out she was right! Tuna was good, seared and served over a delicious rice cake thingy. Was yummy I used to eat shrimp and grits at a place in the middle of nowhere South Carolina, and it was the best I've ever had. Was the first one I ever had too. So I always compare them to that place. Tupelo was as close as anyone has gotten. Plump shrimp covered in sauce over a grit cake. Was just delicious On the way out I noticed the bar had several bottles of Blood Oath bourbon! I returned on Saturday night to have some of that bourbon. A flight of all 3 pacts, 7.8.9 was $100 for an ounce of each. They were exactly as I would expect, oaky and full of flavor. I added a Caesar salad and the special, a 16oz Montana ribeye to them and it was a night I won't soon forget. Ceaser salad was good, had anchovies which is a must for me. Steak was ordered medium rare and delivered perfectly medium rare Covered in maitre d butter it was out of this world. Fresh steak makes all the difference. Was amazingly tender and so full of flavor Steak came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Both were good Service was once again top notch. Service here is world class.

My favorite restaurant in Whitefish, which says a lot considering how many fantastic options there are downtown. I get the ribeye every time, but I think the sides change sometimes? Their hush puppies are the best I've ever had, and I've had a LOT of hush puppies in my 36 years of life lol. French onion soup? Delish Elk meatloaf?? Incredible, and not the least bit gamey. Dessert? They knock it out of the park every time. We eat here every time we're in town (2-3x yearly) and always leave full and satisfied.

Chilled corn chowder, salsa verde, lump crab meat - excellent!

Our best dinner on our family trip to Montana in July, 2022! The service was excellent. I had made reservations for a party of 5. I highly recommend making reservations wherever you plan to dine while in the White Fish area. The ambiance was "date night" or a business meal.

We stopped in at The Tiki Bar at The Boat Club after a long hike at Whitefish Mountain. We walked up to the hostess and even though there were tables available, she said nothing was available at the time. No problem. We thought perhaps they were short staffed but noticed they had several servers standing around. Perhaps it was our shorts and hiking shoes? After all, everyone else was dressed to impress in their swimsuits and coverups. It wouldn't be a big deal but she sat several people that walked up behind us at those tables. No, they didn't have reservations. Okay.... We saw there was couch seating available just outside the hostess stand and asked to sit there and she said yes. It was actually the perfect spot. In the shade and a beautiful view of the boat marina and Whitefish Lake. Our server was Ainsley who was very sweet and an excellent server. She made drink and appetizer recommendations. Ainsley was very friendly, engaging and never left us waiting. We started with the Tiki Punch, which is the popular cocktail on the menu as well as the Full Send which is a rum and espresso cocktail. Both were delicious but $15 for a small cocktail is too much. For appetizers we ordered Mezze Platter and charcuterie board. Again, both were tasty.

Our group of six shared two Tomahawk Steaks with mashed potatoes, carrots and broccolini as sides. Cooked to a perfect medium rare and served with 3 sauces on the side, the meal was outstanding. Desert had us sharing a huckleberry ice cream (wowza) and a Creme Brûlée. If you're ever in Whitefish, Montana and looking for a high end restaurant, head the The Boat Club.

Overall, this place was a mix of really impressive food and a few frustrating misses. Ratings * Food: 4.2/5 * Service: 4.5/5 * Atmosphere: 3/5 * Value: 3.5/5 * Overall: 4/5 The Bad First: Chips & Salsa I have to start here because it honestly bothered me. You simply do not charge for chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. I don't care how modern eclectic and edgy you think you are. Chips and salsa are basically humanity's welcome gift from Latino culture. Charging $6.50 for them immediately sets expectations high -- and unfortunately, this was the weakest part of the entire meal. Both the regular salsa and the tomatillo salsa were muddy-looking and lacked freshness or brightness. The dominant flavor was artificial smoke. No heat, no freshness, no punch. Honestly, even if they had been complimentary, I still would've thought they missed the mark. Please -- forget the pineapple infusions and overthought concepts. Just make a fresh pico de gallo, a great roasted salsa, and a genuinely good hot sauce. Make THAT your signature and your gift to Whitefish. The Good Stuff Now the good news: the actual entrées were excellent. The Chile Relleno was fantastic -- honestly one of the best I've had anywhere. Perfect texture, rich flavor, and clearly made with care. The tacos were also exceptional. I believe the beef taco was the barbacoa, and it absolutely stood out. I was dining with my parents, both in their 70s, and every entrée at the table was a hit. Service Our waiter Jake was excellent. He was juggling several tables at once but stayed attentive, friendly, and accommodating the entire evening. The hostess was also terrific -- greeted us warmly and seated us immediately. Most of the staff seemed genuinely kind and professional, although one bartender came across noticeably cold and uptight. No smile, very little interaction beyond taking orders and dropping off drinks. Atmosphere & Music I usually avoid reading reviews before posting my own, but afterward I noticed many people mentioned the music -- and I completely agree. It's not just that it's too loud. It's the wrong vibe entirely. The music selection feels more nightclub than relaxed cantina. Good restaurant music should create warmth and energy in the background, not dominate the room. The place itself is attractive and lively, and I was impressed by how busy it was for a Monday night. Bonus points for having hockey on during the playoffs. Final Thoughts This isn't traditional Mexican food, despite some of the branding language about authenticity and traditional ingredients. It feels more like someone's modern interpretation or fusion-inspired version of Mexico. That said -- the kitchen clearly knows how to cook. The entrées were genuinely impressive, and the service was very solid. Fix the salsa. Stop charging for it. Improve the music. Do those three things, and this place goes from "good" to "destination-level." I'll absolutely give it another try this summer. And yes, my mother was Mexican. I grew up on this stuff and have traveled the world having various Mexican concepts.

We ordered the Tot-chos (half order to share among six people) and I also got a huckleberry soda for myself as well as the bison (classic) burger with sweet potato fries. For dessert, we shared two scoops of huckleberry ice cream (from Sweet Peaks), the bread pudding and the beignets. I loved the Tot-chos, and the half order was honestly a pretty big size already! The huckleberry soda was pretty sweet (I think it had 41 grams of sugar), but I don't regret trying it. The bison burger wasn't bad, it definitely tasted similar to beef, but it was a huge burger so I couldn't finish it. The sweet potatoes were also delicious. In terms of the dessert, I had gone to Sweet Peaks already and liked their huckleberry flavor a lot, so I was excited to see them on the menu. People at my table loved the bread pudding. I thought the beignets were not bad, but they weren't as good as the other desserts.
