I've been here twice - once for an event and once for dinner. They are located by the water and right next to Nationals Park (0.2 miles). They've got a good space for events with a covered outdoor patio and a large space inside by the bar. They've got quieter dining space in the back and a private dining room too. Our server was hard to find and had to grab her when we could. There was a table of four next to us with a birthday girl that seemed to be the server's only point of attention so we placed our order at the bar with the bartender. Food arrived we got the fried chicken sandwich and crab fries and steak frites w/ crab. As we sat eating our meal there was an empty table sat twice next to us... both times the patrons left because they couldn't find the server after at least 15 minutes. There was plenty of staff to clear the tables and the bartenders were ever present. Once we interrupted the server while over talking at a table and ignoring the rest of the tables she seemed to be re-focused on her multiple tables. We came for brunch on Saturday. The vibe is casual and "hip". Our party ordered the croque madame, French toast, chicken and waffles, chicken sandwich and the Jackie burger. Croque madame- I enjoyed it! It had a garlic cream sauce that kind of tasted like corn soup? On top. There was a generous amount of ham and the tomato jam wasn't really a jam but sweetened tomato which balanced out the dish really well 4/5 Burger- was my husbands fav of the dishes we ordered. Super moist and flavorful 5/5 Chicken and waffles-- I did not love this. The chicken was supposed to be in a Nashville sauce, but it tasted like buffalo and was SUPER SAUCY and overwhelming and did not go with the waffle In my opinion. 2/5 Chicken sandwich- again was the same chicken and sauce in the chicken and waffles....the description said blacked chicken so im not sure why it tasted exactly like the chicken and waffles...super sour and buffaloey 2/5 French toast-- came out as we were finishing eating bc they said they had to make the sauce that they ran out of but im pretty sure they forgot to put in our order ..the berry sauce tasted delish and unique--had a floral aftertaste. My brother was in town, and walking around the neighborhood, we went by and decided to try Jackie. I had known about it and seen the menu, but just hadn't had a chance to eat. It's billed as an American Bistro, but I think you should look at it as a Filipino fusion restaurant, with some hints of French bistro (the tables with chairs facing out towards the street was very reminiscent of France). We decided to get 4 small plates, which were just the right amount of food. The Cauliflower Caesar came first, and it was good, and pretty much what we expected - a Caesar salad with cauliflower and plenty of anchovy flavor (and anchovies themselves) in the dressing. The Pimento Cheese croquettes were nice and warm and the cheese was great, but I don't think I'd need to order them again. The two best dishes were the spam fried rice and the real star, the duck pastrami toast. The spam fried rice is definitely a Filipino inspired dish. It's got a small kick but doesn't blow your palette, and it's just very satisfying. The duck pastrami is something totally different than anything I'd had. It's essentially duck on a cherry PB&J toast. Which may not sound great, but trust me, it works. It's not too sweet, the cherry gives a nice tartness, and the peanuts give some nice crunch. The duck is also juicy and cooked perfectly with that nice pepper crust you expect from pastrami. If you go, this is a must-order dish. This is definitely getting added to my list of Navy Yard restaurants I have to go back to with friends in the future. read more

I stopped by Jackie to get drinks with a friend and we thought this place was really cute! The drinks are well-made, yummy, and STRONG. However, the service was a little slow. It wasn't too busy in the restaurant, and they did try to take out order quickly. But getting the drinks and then waiting for a dessert took forever. We waited 45 minutes for ONE dessert to share before having to head out, which was unfortunate because we were really excited about trying it! Service was great. I lost my mask on the walk over from Cap Hill and the hostess happily gave me a new one of theirs. We sat on that patio by a fire pit which was beautiful and I appreciate the way they organized their tables/chairs to be able to look out over the water and Dacha beer garden. The food was probably 2.5/5. We ordered the Spam Fried Rice, Jerk Chicken Sandwich, and the Sizzling Pork with a side of Asparagus. The Spam Fried Rice was too greasy and bland, but a decent option. The Sizzling Pork (great presentation, by the way -- it's brought out Sizzling (I know.. shocker) in a skillet with a side of rice) was way too salty. The side of rice was really good and they somehow (whether intentionally or not) cooked it such that there was a crunchy top layer with the herbs and butter. The asparagus was wonderfully seasoned with this tart citrus marinade but was so overly cooked it ruined the dish. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich was probably the best dish we tried and if you're looking for a good chicken sandwich this one I can recommend, though at the price point I think there are better options elsewhere. I was recently booked a trip to DC and noticed a former schoolmate had gone to this restaurant called Jackie. I was intrigued and pleasantly surprised that it was inspired by Jackie O. My mother has always been a huge fan of Jacki-O and named me after her so it was a must to pay a visit to Jackie's bristo. The waiter couldn't have been more polished and attentive. He would check on on the table frequently and had an overall pleasant demeanor. The decor was filled with tasteful portraits of Jackie and her famous magazine covers on the wall. I visited Jackie's on a Saturday night. Our reservation was for 9PM and the crowd was light. Their outdoor seating is very nice at night when the weather is just right. For drinks I tried the TequilaJazzz and a pineapple margarita (waitress recommended). Both drinks were good. The tequilajazzz has a nice kick to it but not too spicy. The pineapple margarita was strong but our waitress made sure I had enough juice added to it so I could truly enjoy it. Our waitress Lily was thee BEST! She gave such great recommendations and made sure everything was to our liking. We had great service the entire time. For food, we tried the cheese biscuits for an appetizer. They're not red lobster cheddar biscuits but they were pretty yummy with the bacon butter and jam. The meal also came with a complimentary bread basket with a nice garlic butter. My friend had the steak frites which was cooked to his liking and delicious according to him. The portion is pretty good for the price. I had a Caesar salad and the fried chicken appetizer for an entree. Both were delicious and filling. The chicken is two thighs double fried with a nice spicy sauce on top and burnt onion ranch on the side. Lastly, Lily convinced us to try the chocolate cake and we had no regrets! I loved the vivid colors inside of the restaurant with the Tiffany Blue curtains. To the cushioned booth seating. When it came to the food. I'm not sure if there is a nice way to type around it but everything seemed to be BLAND. And needed much MUCH more seasoning. I had the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. There was nothing Jerked about that dish. Not even the Plantains side was good. The drinks were tasty and each of the glasses presented with each cocktail were fitting. Mother's Day '21 reservations looking to score a spot on the patio. We arrive early to get on the wait list and a high top table is available in the bar right by the open doors so we get the best of both worlds. We take a look at the menu, receive water, and then...wait for 10+ minutes with no waiter showing up. If you like escargot this is the place for you and I'm not talking about the food because everyone moves like snails...After another 5 minutes or so we have to flag a waiter down and he is surprised nobody has come by but takes our order. First impression? Service needs some real work and I actually walk over to The Salt Line to check on a table which is available but the wife prefers to stay so we do. On to the food... Breakfast Tot Poutine Brunch Fried Rice Traditional Breakfast w/waffle add on BBQ Shrimp & Grits Steph's House Baked Goods The food is quite tasty across the board. Can't say we didn't like any of the dishes so as far as the food, definitely 4 stars. The problem is the questionable service...way too long of a wait and nobody comes to check in on the table after our food arrives. I order a coffee (which is quite good) but am never offered a refill. We wait a good 10 minutes for the check and finally flag someone down (again!). Luckily you can pay directly with your phone via Apple Pay or I think we may still be waiting.... So the big question is when a restaurant adds an auto 15% gratuity to all bills, is this the expected outcome? I usually will tip 20% for good service and especially during Covid times, however, it is a shame that the service can suffer so much and ends up hurting not only the servers but the customers, as well... Hopefully Mgmt can fix the service issues because the food is top notch and the location on the river makes for a good destination lunch/dinner spot. read more

I don't review restaurants often, but today is the day! We've lived in Navy Yard for a year and a half and have seen Dacha restaurant's evolution into Jackie firsthand. The chef is incredible- we loved the food at the old Dacha and we weren't surprised that the new elevated "Jackie" took already great food and elevated it perfectly. The service was superb. We frequent the beer garden as well and were happy to see that Marlon transferred to the restaurant. He's always down to strike up a conversation and his recommendations were on point. We sat outside and they took all necessary precautions for COVID- the tables on the side are even separated by little hedges. It felt really safe! We did restaurant week prix fixde and it was worth every penny. The food tasted as good as it looks. Stand outs were the croquettes, tartare, steak, and miso chicken. Every dish had was awesome though. I'm a huge coconut milk person and LOVED the coconut rice pudding. It's my new favorite dessert. Also, the Jackie cocktail was so good. I was at the soft opening. (Official opening July 15th). I sat outside. They set up the outdoor tables Parisian style to take advantage of the view. They view of the water (Anacostia River) was beautiful! And I enjoyed the sunset. The stadium steps are a stone throw away. There is also the dacha beer garden and another restaurant next door to give it a festive feel and contribute to interesting people watching. The decor, inside and outside, menu, and cocktails scream "Jackie" all the way! I started with the grilled prawns. They were three to an order. They were very spicy and the side of pineapple sambal and green papaya was refreshing. The prawns were incredibly fresh. Next I had the ham and cheese croquettes. Wow! This is the ultimate drinking/drunk food! Crispy on the outside, gooey cheesy center with small pieces of Virginia ham. OMG so good. They came 6 to an order. The mustard sauce for dipping was delicious and not overbearing as sometimes mustard can take over. Be prepared to fight over these! And maybe order more than one order?! I hear they taste good the next day. The Cheese plate was on the dessert menu but I decided to have it with my apps. It had three cheeses, crackers, spiced nuts and this freakishly fresh and delicious blueberry jam; it's homemade in house. It paired perfectly with the blue cheese. I would definitely get this again for that blueberry jam alone. But the Bayley Hasen Blue from Jasper Hill, NC paired perfectly with it. The Sandy Creek goat cheese from Goat Lady in NC was equally good. The double fried chicken was awesome. It was really crunchy and not greasy at all! This is a chef specialty and he prides himself on non greasy fried chicken. There were 5 pieces so yes it's perfect for sharing. The others at the table will hear the crunch when you bite into it! For my main I got the black bass. It was fresh and flaky. The side radish and asparagus salad was lightly dressed and a complimentary pairing to the fish. The portion was generous. I also tasted other's main courses. The fried was good. The portion was huge. The chicken was disguised as a tower of vegetables. Very indulgent overall. A layer of crunch but velvety and smooth and then the chicken. The grits at the bottom provided a savory contrast. The steak was a really good. It was served as big hunks of meat. My friend said it meshed nicely with the sides. The fingerling side dish was tasty and large. Drinks: I started with the Pink Channel. The lavender sugar stick made the drink sweeter as it dissolved. Loved it. I also tried the old fashioned but ordered it light in the smokiness. Perfect. I tried all three sweet desserts. The biggest surprise was that the best one was the lemon chamomile semifreddo. Absolutely refreshing and delicious. The brownie was ok and had so many different flavors. ThIs is on the menu because brownies were Jackie O's favorite dessert! The pound cake, as expected, was also good. But the semifreddo stole the show. I'll be back! I came here with a friend last week. We started with Jackie O cocktails and a few small plates including the fried chicken, fried grits, and the squash. Everything was delicious! The entrees are where things went downhill. We both ordered the crab fat pasta. The dish was so salty it was inedible. I know that lobster roe is salty but I only tasted richness from the cheese and salt. The prawns were also flavorless. I was done after two bites. Overall a really disappointing entree. I shared with my server that I didn't enjoy my entree . She simply removed my virtually untouched plate and asked if we wanted dessert. We paid our bill (including my pasta) and left to get dessert elsewhere. It's a shame because the evening started with so much promise. read more

My wife and I went here for a little pre-anniversary treat. We had been eyeing their delicious happy hour menu for quite some time and this was finally our chance to try those intriguing items like their duck PB&J or their take on burrata but unfortunately they had changed their menu just days earlier! While it was a huge letdown initially, things could only go up from here. We still decided to order off the new happy hour menu and had a shrimp tartine which paired so well with our Caesar salad and now that I think about it that was probably the best beef tartare that I have ever had. However, the food was not the star of the show and things continued to get better as we had just enough food in our bellies to handle a few drinks. This is where our new favorite bartender Allison would make magic happen! We ordered our first two off of the set happy hour menu and we were more than pleased, not only by the drink itself but by the passion and eccentricity that Allison was demonstrating as she explained and concocted her artwork. She then let us sample a very tasty drink she was mixing up and we became curious, asking about this and that, halfway getting an alcohol education and halfway trying to figure out how she is so talented and what makes her tick. She saw our interest and asked us a few questions regarding our drink preferences then, almost as if she just did some psychic reading, whipped us both up a complex drink that was tailored uniquely to our palate and still within our price point. It really became a show for us to see her run around her domain freely as we watched the mind spin and bottles tip. It was an impressive experience of masterful craftsmanship and authenticity and honestly it seemed she was having fun with the challenge and the process just as much as she was trying to create for our own satisfaction. I knew this place would wreck my wallet, and even though I was right, it was totally worth it. Located right in Navy Yard, this place is super fashionable and their menu is mouth-watering. I started with their Jackie O cocktail, which was super light and refreshing. My friends got espresso martinis, which looked amazing, as well as beers (since they share some space with Dacha). Next came the fries, which are perfectly thin and crispy, and the beef tartare. Now, I won't get tartare anywhere (food poisoning is real, y'all) but I took a chance here and it was absolutely phenomenal. For those of y'all looking at the pic attached, the yellow stuff is a mustard sauce, not cheese! Also, my friends who got burgers absolutely loved their meals, and the salads looked pretty appetizing as well. It was so nice to sit outside, and the staff were very friendly. Weirdly, the worst part of this place was the restrooms. Even though they looked nice, they smelled absolutely horrible, which I really didn't expect. Brittany was super easy to work with and the entire team was very accommodating, responsive, and all around wonderful to work with. Never have I had such an easy time planning an event, and we do a lot of them. And not just that, as a restaurant guest, the dining experience and food is fantastic. I was totally happy with Jackie but not blown away. The service was speedy but a little impersonal, as all the ordering took place on your phone--which conceivably is to protect the staff from COVID, but we still had to ask them a bunch of questions anyway, so kind of made the effort moot. For food, I got the fried chicken appetizer, chicken liver mousse, and smoked trout dip. The trout dip was hands down the best--really flavorful, but not overpowering like trout can be. I was definitely happy with the other two chicken dishes and would totally order them again, but neither was the best I ever had, and the bread with the mousse was a little dry. For drinks, I had the Berliner, which was a bit tart for my liking, although I love the effort to have drinks with ingredients that were popular from that time period of Jackie O. I would definitely come back here to try some of the other food, and to sit inside and gauge the atmosphere there, but it probably wouldn't jump to the top of my list. read more

We started with a charcuterie board that was lackluster in taste and quality of the meat and cheese. We all ordered pasta dishes. They did not have clams for one of the dishes and did alert us they were replaced with shrimp, but the dish lacked flavor. For the cannelloni, we received what was really just spaghetti (dry and tasted old) and meatballs of varying appearance on the inside... yikes! Our cocktails were served AFTER our entrees, disappointing we could not toasts out-of-town guests before our meal was served. This experience was mostly positive. I did have an outdoor reservation, which was not granted, but we were seated near the open sliding wall so it was almost like being outside at least. They also squeezed in an extra person for us when I had miscounted the number in my party and I was most appreciative of the understanding. The service was really great. Our server Heather was very friendly and attentive. We had several people in our large group with food allergies, and while the restaurant did take those issues very seriously in the food preparation, unfortunately the menu was a bit limited for people with gluten intolerance/celiac disease. Overall, the food was good, although I heard the fried chicken wasn't well seasoned and was "overfried" so we don't recommend those dishes. I liked the croque madame and the tots are always great!
