I had a blast at Jackbar! Besides a bunch of awesome pin ball machines lining the wall, they also have board games! Me and my friends had so much fun playing Apples to Apples. My favorite pinball machines was The Twilight Zone, AC/DC and a water rafter one I don't remember the name of. The baseball machine was rad too. The bartender was really sweet! I don't remember her name, but her kindness was very much appreciated. She suggested the jalepno chips to me and I loved it! It's a small space, but it doesn't feel cramped. And all games are 50 cents. Sweet! Oh yeah- and grilled cheese sandwiches? ... They seriously never want me to leave. read more

Two nights ago we were entertained by the RUDEST BARTENDER I personally had the misfortune to be served by. Not only rude, but also incompetent: We asked for a negroni, and to make the long story short, she forgot to include gin. Later on she misunderstand one of us intention of wanting to finish last sip of beer, and as a pity revenge, she bring the empity bottle left somewhere else on the bar, onto the table we were sitting. Dropped in after searching for bars with pinball machines in Williamsburg. Pros: Really friendly bartender, fast service, decent prices, good selection of beer and even a hard cider on draft! Liked that it was not crowded, plus you can easily get quarters for the pinball machines at bar. Cons: Place is kind of divey (gross bathroom - pungent smell of urine, out of toilet paper) and several of the pinball machines were out of order. read more

Great staff and ambiance, but the drinks are very strong. For example, the jalapeno margarita tasted like straight tequila and spice. Not for the faint of heart. My boyfriend and I went to Jackbar on Saturday night, and I was surprised to see that the bar was virtually empty. On the plus-side, that gave us as much access as we wanted to Jackbar's array of pinball machines (for the record, many of which were out of service). Perhaps it was an odd night, but I would recommend this for a relaxed night with a large group of friends versus a spot on a crazy night on the town. Stopped through on my way to Saratoga to get some good beer and play some pinball. Diverse rotating selection for any taste and you can throw a $3 shot on top of it taboot. Right away greeting with a smile by the bartender and welcomed by the owner Jon Who is a great guy and businessman and who I later in the day had a great convo about pinball and his billion point high score on the maiden game which I plan on beating at some point . Good old Jackbar. If you were to imagine a quintessential Williamsburg bar - this would be it. Laid back, a bit grungy/divey, pinball machines, wallet-friendly prices, with a large and diverse beer menu. bathrooms were a bit of a mess with graffiti and stickers all over the place but nothing worse than what you would expect out of a dive bar. small outdoor patio where you can smoke a cigarette with your drinks or sit and people watch. room for only 3-4 comfortably out there, so if you want it better grab that spot. 3-4 small two seater tables; one larger table in front of the single flat screen television they have. During world cup time, this can be a good refuge from the crowds and insanity of local sports pubs such as banter or mulhollands. Friendly bartender. This place is great. read more

Came here for the pinball, left with having $5 beer plus a shot. Can't get much better than that. I met up with a date here. It's a good low-key spot with an assortment of random board games (which were missing a lot of pieces, i might add) and of course, cheap drinks. They were having a special on $5 draft beers with a shot of your choice. So, obviously, we couldn't pass on that deal. The staff was nice and the ambiance was your typical grunge dive bar. They recommended that we should play the two player baseball pinball machine, which was actually a lot of fun (or maybe it was the drinks). I was there for my first time Sunday night 6/08/14. It was very chill, great atmosphere and only a handful of people and none of them seem pretentious or ridiculously rowdy. The bar itself had cheap drinks and friendly bartenders. Don and John (or Jon) you guys definitely have a returning customer. Games and liquor, what's not to like? I was playing Nightmare on Elm Street 3(Dream warriors), Twilight Zone, Star Trek, and the baseball game and took a couple shots of my friend Jim Beam. I visited this bar for the first time a few weeks ago during the day. The bar itself is very nice and low key. The bartenders were all very nice - I ended up staying late into the night to meet the second bartender. They were very friendly and welcoming. The music is nice to vibe to and the games are a plus. I didn't order any food, just drinks. My only complaint is that this is one of those bars that do not always serve the alcohol/drink you ordered. Similar to my last review for a different business, I only drink specific alcohol due to health issues with my stomach. I can only tolerate certain kinds. At this bar, I wanted 2 shots of Jameson because it is smooth going down and does not hurt my stomach the next day. I did not receive 2 Jameson shots that night. In fact, what the bartender served burned so much that my pain level the following morning was a 7/10. There are numerous bars like this in NYC and I aim to make it known in my reviews not just for the people who like a good drink, or for those that deserve to receive what they pay for, but for those who have a sensitive stomach such as myself and know what their bodies can handle and what it cannot. The "Jameson" shot was my last drink of the night and I am glad because now, I know better to not return to this establishment. read more

The drinks were pretty strong here. My girlfriend and I had jalapeno margaritas, and the jalapeno was definitely strong--still okay for me, but too spicy for her. The service here is very good. I lost my credit card, and they were very prompt to get it back to me when I returned. Also, this bar has tons of pinball machines, probably 15 or so, and we had a great time playing 10 or so. I moved to nyc for two years solo. After becoming familiar with nyc, I found myself back in Jack bar more times than I can count. Every staff member there was always so friendly which is so necessary when you don't know anyone. The drinks and games selection never disappointed. I even spent my last night in ny at Jackbar before moving back to Dublin. I wanted to write a cute thank you note to the owner John, but I got too drunk and forgot. Man, I wish I'd read the reviews before coming to this place. Seems like everyone who has had a bad experience gets attacked for saying so. I grew up running around and working in my family's restaurant. There are always good days and bad days, and sometimes things just go wrong. That's all part of the deal. What really makes or breaks a place is the standard it holds itself to and how the people who run it respond when things go wrong. You can really tell a lot about a person (or business) and their priorities by how they treat people and how they handle stress. If you come across a business (or person) that turns every complaint around to make it an attack on the other person, you know there's a serious problem. And man, does this place have problems. Just look at this Yelp page, it will tell you a lot about how they see their customers. Every single person who has had a bad experience has been insulted and dismissed by the business owner. Every. Single. One. My girlfriend and I came here for the pinball and they a had a couple decent games, but a lot of the machines seemed to be in bad shape. We had to walk through a massive cloud of cigarette smoke just to get in the door. The bathrooms were dirty. The drinks were sub-par. The bartender seemed wasted and was very rude to us.
