Okay, so I never thought that a hot dog could ever be so tasty. This place was the first to made me love and crave a hot dog and that is why I give it five stars. It won me over because it was so heavenly tasty and I don't mind driving 40 minutes to get one of these dogs! I am hooked on J Dawgs! Althought I am a Ute, I will go out of my way--incognito--down to Provo just to get one of these tasty dogs. The bun is skillfully toasted and the the Polish sausage is cooked to optimal deliciousness. I love their selection on condiments to put on the dogs (my favorite toppings: jalapenos, onions, sauerkraut, and especially their special sauce). So delicious! The dogs are the perfect proportions too! One fills me up just right. The atmosphere is so-so but you get lost in the yumminess of the hot dog that it doesn't matter. These guys are at almost every event I go to, whether it's a town festival or a company event, and I have never had anything but a great experience! This is a cute little place on the East side of the BYU campus. The menu is super simple... I would say its like an In-n-Out hot dog style. The hot dogs are pretty big for $4. Add chips and a drink for the combo at $7. I personally think that's a good deal. Whats even better than a good deal is the price and quality of food you get there. Oh, and did I tell you they have Gluten Free buns? For me the ultimate Gluten Free bun would be like the glutenous hot dog bun from Weinerschnitzel. If you are visiting Provo, J Dawgs is a MUST. The dawgs are made of ACTUAL MEAT that is really tasty. (Not that weird non-meat stuff that most hot dogs are made of.) They toast the buns. They've got lots of yummy toppings. But the real magic of this place is in the special sauce. I could seriously drink that stuff. Come for the sauce alone! And buy a bottle to take home while you are at it! J Dawgs has this location and the one over on University Parkway in Orem in the area. This location is the original one, so it has got some special charm to it. The other one is more organized and spacious and newer. So if you want the divey charm, hit up this place. J dawgs is a restaurant that really specializes in only one thing... dawgs! Located just a couple blocks from BYU campus, J Dawgs is a good place to go for a hot or polish dog. There is a pretty simple menu system when it comes to ordering, which is basically picking between those two types of hot dogs and choosing to make your meal a combo or not. The dogs themselves come with toppings and sauces that- when piled up altogether- make them quite delicious. They make their chip selection pretty unique, as there a number of rarer chip brands being sold. Also, I thought I'd mention that seating in here is not too plentiful (probably no more than 30 people), but I have yet to see this place packed and see someone who actually stays more than 15 minutes eating a hot dog. Their special BBQ sauce is REALLY good, but I do know some people dont like it with their dog... but I do so... poo on you. The buns are really delicious too. This is where I kind of have an issue... I can buy the same quality dogs at Costco (do they get their weiners from there?) 12 for.... $4. So... they cost about 33.33 cents (continued). Thats a darn good profit for them. And the good news is because of the lack of good food in provo most people find this place to be... THE SPOT! The reason i rounded up to four? The staff is nice, and the environment is fun. Tv's and stuff. I think its a good establishment but "AS GOOD AS IT GETS?" are you blanking kidding me? I'm barely a fan. The Verdict: Try it out. Yep. It is as I suspected. The dogs really were that good. I was back in Provo today and the first thing I did when I was done doing what I had to do was dash to get a dog. Only 11am? Ya. So? I LOVE J Dawgs! Been here many, many times! It brightened my BYU days, and it's even within walking distance of certain parts of campus. (Well maybe all of campus if you enjoy LONG walks haha.)
