When grilled, this creates caramelizing and brings out the flavor. The fries are incredible, and you get a lot of them. It's difficult to know whether I go there for the dawg or the fries. The place is small and if you are there at peak times, it will be a challenge to find parking and a table for sit down dining. The workers are always pleasant and seem to enjoy their job. Your order is ready quickly and they confirm your order. I patronize J.Dawgs whenever I can, it's just good stuff. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. Best hot dog ever. Been going since college and recently went back and it was just as good. They have franchised so well. The brawts and beef are both so good! The sauce is a must, we buy a bottle when we are BBQing to add to burgers and dogs at home. I haven't eaten J Dawgs since college, which was... a few years ago... :) I was randomly craving a hot dog and thought I'm gonna go try this again. I was a little torn on what to get toppings wise - a lot of great options. I was thinking I would just get my traditional mustard, relish, onions. Then a few people in front of me kept ordering special sauce and sauerkraut and I was intrigued. So I tried half traditional and half special sauce, sauerkraut and banana peppers. First - the hot dog or polish dog are both cooked really well. They slice them so you get a good amount of the cooked texture. Toast the bun just a bit and then choose your toppings! Honestly, the sauerkraut and special sauce is so good. I enjoyed the banana peppers and want to try with the pickle slices next time. If you want a hot dog - they really do it right. Jdawgs was my college crush long before they blew up and made it big in the Utah world. They were just a small hot dog shop in a podunk part of provo, just south of BYU campus. Now that location is no longer, but the love of Jdawgs has exploded and they dot the Utah map, hopefully more soon. This location helped me out with a catering order. I showed up earlier than my quoted time and they obviously weren't officially ready for me, but were able to throw the order together earlier than planned. They were calm, collective, and fantastic. They give you a giant bottle of secret sauce that will last you forever, so we had plenty leftover for another day(s). read more

J Dawgs is probably the most overhyped place in Utah but it's still pretty good. The interior vibe is alright, it has that industrial factory/chipotle energy, but with the addition of a 1950s retro twist, like a big telephone booth. Doesn't really make sense. The signature sauce is decent. Catering from them/bulk ordering has always been consistently the best. But they make a solid, big hot dog. I actually dig the limited menu options, which helps lend to a fairly consistent level of quality. Unfortunately for me the guy effed up my beef dog today and made it like a subway sandwich; have you ever eaten subway and taken several full bites that were 110% mustard and 0% anything else? It was like that. Still tasted good. The one major gripe I have with J Dawgs is that a Costco hotdog will set you back just $1.50, so it's hard to justify not just going there. This location is one of the best! (But lets be honest all of Jdawgs locations have a pretty high up there customer service) Anyways.. I love their dogs. The polish is amazing when you're wanting some extra flava in your life but their beef dog just tastes extraordinary. (I have no idea why their beef hot dogs taste better than just a regular Joe one from my own house? but I'm not gonna start a CSI investigation on it) I like that you can customize your own dog to have onions, jalapenos or banana peppers with sauces such as mayo, mustard or their SPECIAL SAUCE (hint hint: this is the one you want!!) drizzled all over your hotdog and bun. I gave it a 2 star because there was a severe lack of priority going on. There was a whole line of people and only one teenager was making and serving the hot dog (which is your only product). There were two older guys and one was restocking chips and the other was doing register (and he only had one customer at a time, no line) but when there wasnt customers at the register he just stood around. I seriously dont get why standing and talking or restocking chips (that there was plenty of) takes priority over getting the food made and served. Have the employees help each other out and have a system to help move the line move forward. Have at least two people making the hot dogs (one guy ask the ppl what type of dog, he puts them on the bun, then the second guy does the coondiments and wraps). Then do restocking and cleaning after they have been helped. Prioritze. Im sure these guys were not doing intentionally they just didnt realize the big mistake they were making. but the whole line of hungry people saw how other employees weren't really doing much while this one teenager was busting his ass making the their food. And then there were two employees standing and talking in the lobby while the line had 10 ppl in it and one guy making the dogs lols. They honestly got to be aware and work efficiently. J-Dawgs is one of the best not-really-a-full-meal-but-if-you're-6/10-hungry-it's-great places in Provo! First, let's start with the interior. What I love is that it's very clean, especially for a place that is always busy and frequented most by college and high school kids. Second, they're FAST. For how busy it is (there's almost always a line), you can get in and out in about five minutes. Of course, I get frustrated when I have to wait 2 or 3 extra minutes, but I do have to remind myself that this place ALWAYS has quite a few people in line, and they really get them through quick. Now as for the food, it's awesome. I honestly don't think it could be better. However, let's keep this in perspective--it costs $4.00, and it's a hot dog. Obviously for the price and considering the food itself, there are limits. It's not a gourmet, take-a-girl-on-a-date kind of place (to see what kind of place it is, reference beginning of review), and it's a tube of churned-up meat. Don't get me wrong, I love hot dogs, but I hate it when people expect their lives to change from it. Yes, I would confidently say it's the best hot dog I've had. No, I would not say it has changed my life. The one thing that miffs me a little sometimes is I feel that the staff is annoyed with the customers. That being said, they have never made a rude comment or voice led anything to confirm what I suspect so I can't knock this joint for it. Everyone, their grandparents, their dog, and their second cousins twice removed LOVE J Dawgs. You can't throw a rock in Utah County without finding someone raving about J Dawgs. You can't even walk through your school without being assaulted with a barrage of J Dawg's number one fans shouting about J Dawgs and handing out coupons for J Dawgs and shoving J Dawgs in their J Dawg shaped mouth. ...But they're hot dogs. That they cut up a little bit and put a sweet barbecue sauce on it. I don't get the hype. I don't at all whatsoever. It's not the best hot dog I've ever had, and it's definitely not even close to being as amazing. But it's not horrible and it doesn't make me wish I was 1000 miles away from it when I'm eating it. BUT IT'S LITERALLY A HOTDOG and IT DOESN'T NEED THIS EXCESSIVE FANBASE. Also, they take an unnecessary amount of time to give you the hot dog anyways. I feel like since they're so unnecessarily popular, they would have more hotdogs hot and ready to be put in a simple bun, since that's ALL A HOT DOG IS.
