I initially came to this spot to try a Sonoran hot dog, something completely new to me. The beef on the dog was amazing and the bun was just as good - as it was grilled in a way that warmed it, but also left it soft. The combination was perfect, but the toppings left a little to be desired. They were not bad, just did not add a lot of flavor and if anything detracted a bit from the overall quality of the meat and bun. I wish I could just take the basic dog and add grilled onions and mustard to it. Maybe that would have made it cheaper too, as $8 was a steep price for a hot dog. I also tried two different burritos - The Sonora and the Gringo. Both of them were average at best, and of the two, I would get the Gringo again. The service was average and the inside of the restaurant definitely screaming "hole in the wall". I might try it again, and would definitely get a Sonoran Dog again. read more

Was craving fish tacos near me one day and this place popped up. They have a tucked away store in provo but I'm so happy to have discovered this place! I ordered the fish tacos and carne asada tacos and I have no complaints. Fish was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The toppings were fresh. Carne asada was super flavorful and their tortillas are so tender and good! They have a salsa bar too so definitely loaded up on the salsa verde. Definitely need to check this place out if you get the chance! I got my order to go but they do have some seating options available as well in the downstairs area. I love carne asada tacos so was excited to try some based on the Yelp reviews. The taco was good but it felt like it was missing something in terms of flavor. I did like the slaw on the taco since it added a nice crunchy texture. There was no salsa that came with the taco, so maybe that would have improved the flavor. The employees did not seem like they wanted to help me when I came up to order my taco and ask for napkins. Our must-try menu item here is the Torta. The bread was toasted perfectly, stuffed with flavorful carne asada, and it comes with green salsa that we loved pouring on each bite! The taco we would recommend is definitely the carne asada as well, but don't skip the birria tacos so you can dip anything and everything in their amazing consome that comes with it! We didn't love the fish taco, would skip that next time. Other tasty items are their Birria quesadilla and Sonoran Dog. Their carne asada truly is the best I've ever had. Juicy and so full of flavor! Homemade tortillas, perfectly pressed and grilled, wrap up the delicious steak and toppings. Really good carne asada! I went to the truck in Provo and loved it! It's right of the freeway, off Center St. The have multiple delicious options like tacos, burrito, hot dog, quesadilla and more. I've tried the burrito, taco and quesadilla. The taco is probably my favorite, it's HUGE with a lot of meat. The quesadilla is also delicious with beans and cheese! I had passed by Rio Sonora many times at their old location on University Parkway in Orem and always wanted to stop. One day, I noticed that they were no longer in their customary location. I was heartbroken as I assumed that I had missed my opportunity. As exited the freeway on Center St in Provo, I saw Rio Sonora in all of its glory. I was so overcome with emotion that I made an immediate U-turn. They tout the best carne asada around so naturally I needed to put my stamp of approval on their claim. Ordered three carne asada tacos to really get a good sense of what they were offering. I ate those tacos so fast it startled the small children nearby. The blissful noises coming from my mouth made grown men uncomfortable. Pulling away, I called my wife and informed her that all dinner plans were off. We were coming back. The wife got two carne asada tacos and I went with a quesadilla (better meat to tortilla ratio). The quesadilla was just as awesome as the tacos. I've been back three times since that fateful night. Only complaint is that they rotate the truck around so it's not there everytime I crave tacos. read more
