Tasty, not too pricey, and warm Mexican food. The portions are fabulous for Utah County, Utah. And the daily specials served with fresh chips & salsa is a wonderful value...

We came on Saturday around 3pm, not super busy but the main dining room area is an echo chamber which made it hard to talk to our table. The chips and salsa were good, decent amount of heat which might indicate that it's store bought... because it was literally the best thing here. The dishes were all pretty pathetic. The before and after pictures don't look too far apart, we each picked the few good components out and left the rest... The rice was ok, beans a little runny for my taste. My dish had a fried corn tortilla at the base but it's as if they forgot to fry it, it was soaked in oil but just not crispy. The attention to detail seems low, I had a big piece of onion skin in my dish. If this was the only issue it's forgivable. I can honestly say this is the first time in maybe a decade that I haven't finished my meal. My wife got about 10% in and gave up! No amount of hot sauce/salsa can overcome the lack of flavor here. Let's touch on the lack of cleanliness: My daughter told me that the ladies bathroom has a sign that tells you not to flush toilet paper and throw it away, I'm sure that smells lovely! WTF is up with that! Dead bugs on the window seals and floors, I would bet $ that this joint never gets a deep cleaning. Needless to say, we will never be back. If I could select 0 stars I would. At least we gave it the Ol' college try.

Super yummy!! I loved the spicy salsa and chips. Great prices and amount of food. We got the taco salad, chicken enchiladas and chicken taquitos. It's right before you head towards Sundance, great service and food! I can't wait to go back!

Stopped by here on our way out of the canyon. The parking is very limited but we found a spot on the south side of the building right by the entrance. The chips and salsa were decent and the service was fast and the food was decently priced. I got the #11 which had a beef enchilada, beef taco, and chili relleno combination plate that came with beans and rice. The taco was a good size and crispy like a chalupa, I wish it came with some guacamole. The beef in the enchilada was shredded and had a great flavor. The chili relleno was also perfectly cooked and didn't have too much spice. My husband got the carne asada burrito and the meat was so tender and savory. If you're passing by definitely stop there for a quick bite.

Mama Chu's is a great option for inexpensive Mexican food that's pretty tasty. Honestly, it isn't the greatest Mexican food out there. But it is easy to forget that when every plate is big and under $10! We did really enjoy the chips and salsa. We tried the Bistec Mexicano and the Carne Asada burrito. Over all, we enjoyed it as a fun date night and really enjoyed how nice it was on our wallet! The steak was cooked pretty well and they had some nice flavors. The enchilada sauce on top of the burrito was just okay. The leftovers were great the next day though! This is the perfect place to get decent Mexican food at a great price!

It was cold and rainy, but our bikes were no obstacle for the good people at Mama Chus.

Fast service, delicious food, expansive yet uncomplicated menu, fair prices. So far, the best Mexican restaurant that I've found in Utah.

Maria Bonita - Shredded Beef Burrito

Maria Bonita offers a genuinely authentic Mexican dining experience that clearly reflects…read moretraditional flavors and cooking styles. The atmosphere and menu feel true to the culture, and it's refreshing to find a place that doesn't overly Americanize the cuisine. Many of the dishes capture that homemade, authentic quality that fans of traditional Mexican food will appreciate. That said, the experience wasn't perfect. The wait time was quite long, even when the restaurant didn't appear extremely busy, which made the visit feel a bit drawn out. Additionally, while the food was flavorful and authentic, some of the dishes came out a bit on the dry side. Another consideration is the price. While the quality and authenticity are good, the prices are noticeably high compared to other Mexican restaurants offering similar dishes. Overall, Maria Bonita is a solid choice if you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine and don't mind paying a premium. With a few improvements to service speed and food moisture/texture, it could easily be a five-star experience.

The service was fast and attentive, the food came out quick, and then portions were large. I typically get combination plates when I go to Mexican food places so I can try a couple different things and I LOVED the beef tamale that was in my combination. The restaurant is smaller so it did get quite loud, but that's to be expected. The chips and salsa were yummy and we left with quite a bit of leftovers. I would go again and make sure to reserve ahead a time or do take out :)
