Always a tasty time! Their mega blended drinks are so fun to share with the family! Salsa is the perfect temp!

Probably some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. For starts the food was terrible and the service was as well. They prioritized bigger parties over smaller ones. We waited about 30 minutes before we even got our drinks. The food was overcooked and for being a Mexican restaurant they did not know how to properly cook a quesadilla. Who adds bell peppers to a quesadilla??? And the meat was basically blackened and not seasoned. My partner and I will never be coming back. Any future customers Don't WASTE YOUR MONEY AND THIS ESTABLISHMENT!! read more

great experience and the food is so good. If you haven't tried Maria Bonita's you need to.

Maria Bonita offers a genuinely authentic Mexican dining experience that clearly reflects traditional flavors and cooking styles. The atmosphere and menu feel true to the culture, and it's refreshing to find a place that doesn't overly Americanize the cuisine. Many of the dishes capture that homemade, authentic quality that fans of traditional Mexican food will appreciate. That said, the experience wasn't perfect. The wait time was quite long, even when the restaurant didn't appear extremely busy, which made the visit feel a bit drawn out. Additionally, while the food was flavorful and authentic, some of the dishes came out a bit on the dry side. Another consideration is the price. While the quality and authenticity are good, the prices are noticeably high compared to other Mexican restaurants offering similar dishes. Overall, Maria Bonita is a solid choice if you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine and don't mind paying a premium. With a few improvements to service speed and food moisture/texture, it could easily be a five-star experience. read more

Fun and lively atmosphere! The staff is very kind and attentive. Chips and salsa were delicious. I had the chicken fajita and it was so good. The portions were amazing! The only miss was the lack of extra plates for making the fajita tacos but besides that it was a vibe. Will be going again! :) read more

The restaurant itself was very dirty. The food was terrible. I would definitely not recommend eating here!

As soon as we entered the restaurant, my friend got a rose! What a surprise. She was happy for sure. Then we ordered beef fajitas and carne asada quesadilla. Those are tasty, and the amount.... I have never seen such a big portion for a menu. We couldn't even finish them all. Each menu was like $20-25 and price seems reasonable or even cheap i would say. read more

The vibes are phenomenal at Maria Bonita. Food is good and very filling. You get chips and salsa as you wait for your food which. The pastor tacos were very filling and good. The enchiladas were also yummy. read more

We tried this restaurant for the first time based on the location and positive reviews, but unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed irritated that we were there and were unfriendly throughout our visit. The restaurant itself also did not appear clean, which immediately made us uncomfortable. We ordered several different menu items, and every dish tasted off with a strange metallic flavor. None of us could finish our food. When we politely brought our concerns to the staff, the response was unprofessional and dismissive. We ended up leaving still hungry and went to another restaurant instead. We will definitely not be returning. read more

We came for a late dinner on a Friday night so it was busy. We did have to wait a bit but that's on us for not making a reservation. The food was worth the wait though. The service was fast and attentive, the food came out quick, and then portions were large. I typically get combination plates when I go to Mexican food places so I can try a couple different things and I LOVED the beef tamale that was in my combination. The restaurant is smaller so it did get quite loud, but that's to be expected. The chips and salsa were yummy and we left with quite a bit of leftovers. I would go again and make sure to reserve ahead a time or do take out :) read more

Came in mid afternoon on a Saturday and could visibly see there wasn't very many people in and was told there was a 35 minute wait I said okay and gave my number TWICE I sat outside as I waited and saw multiple parties going inside and getting sat so I called and saw another girl pick up the phone and I asked what the wait time was and she said there wasn't one so I walked in and got sat immediately. After an hour passed I never got a text that my table was ready! I was very nice when I asked for a table for two so I have no idea why I was treated that way because that's just flat out rude to lie? And for what reason? Honestly wish we wouldn't have went back in because the food came out in about 5 minutes and wasn't very fresh anyways. Do better. read more

This place is decent. Salsa needs flavor, pretty bland. Tables are small for the size of the plates they give. Overall decent. I would have given a four, services was pretty bad due to how busy the place gets. read more

The food is good. Typical Mexican food. I had the chimichanga. It was actually really good. The best thing about this place is the service. I was out in a waiting list when we arrived. We were told 30 minutes and they sent a text after 20. They had our table ready. The servers were very well trained. They were fast and attentive to our table. We were told to come to this place . I would highly recommend. read more

One star because I couldn't rate 0! HORRIBLE service. I've given this place five separate chances to impress me, and every visit has been disappointing. Getting a drink takes forever. On multiple occasions, I had to track someone down just to receive the soda I had already ordered. When it finally arrived, the cup was packed so full of ice that there was barely a sip of actual soda in it. When I requested a refill and politely asked for less ice, I was told I'd have to pay for another drink if I wanted less ice. Seriously? The nickel-and-diming doesn't stop there. If you order the guacamole appetizer (which is actually delicious!), it doesn't even come with chips, and the table chips aren't refillable. So you're paying for an appetizer and then paying extra to be able to eat it. What really bothered me, though, was the payment process. They never provide an itemized bill to review. Instead, they immediately shove a card scanner in your face with several high tip options displayed and no obvious option for a custom amount. Not being allowed to easily review the charges before paying makes me question the transparency of their billing practices. I hadn't really thought about that process until last time I went. Looking back, I think I have always left the restaurant thinking it was more expensive than I thought it would be based on the items we ordered. I could go on, but after five opportunities to get it right, I've seen enough. Poor service, ridiculous policies, and an overall frustrating customer experience. I won't be back, and I suggest strongly you don't give it a try. (Go to La Casita in Springville instead!) read more

I have mixed feelings about Maria Bonita. We usually go with my in-laws when all the family gets together, and it isn't always the best. Their service is lacking with big groups, and often, we are left waiting for long periods before the food arrives, on top of the long wait times to get into the restaurant. That being said the food is very good. Although, it does bother me that more than one round of chips costs extra. All that being said when it has been just me and my wife the service has been better and the staff were quite nice. read more

We've been here many, many times over the years. The food is either hit or miss. Most always a hit. This afternoon, however, was a complete miss as to customer service. Celebrating a birthday from back east we talked our birthday gal into going here, having ALWAYS spoken so highly of MB. So, she caved. From the moment we walked in the door until we were finally able to get some one to come and give us the bill, the service was embarrassingly HORRIBLE!!! The non expressive "unwelcoming" was so awkward to begin with, it set the tone. The young boy who they had working was a zombie and either needs to go take a siesta or work behind the scenes. He did not earn any brownie points today. He left us for a half an hour before we were about to get up and walk out. The waitress wasn't any better. The lady cleaning the mantle behind us was even having to jump in and holler to get someone to attend to us. No one...not one person smiled. Took forever to take our order. If we asked for more salsa (they never did come and refill our waters or drinks) it was as if we'd asked for the sun, moon and stars! Such grouches. We were never checked on to see if we wanted or needed anything. We told them it was our persons birthday - not one thing was said. No exaggeration here...it was the WORST atmosphere/vibe we've ever encountered here. In fairness, my fajitas was spot on, as well one other order. The other was a total miss. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. And sadly, we won't be going back for a long, long time, if ever. It really was that bad. As we were leaving, a new woman walked in to take care of our bill. She was absolutely delightful! Too little too late. They say the customer service you receive is half the experience in any restaurant. Nah...it was 99% of it today! read more

Cups were dirty. Food was not good. Meat was dry. Food portions were huge, waitresses fail to informed us so we ordered way too much. I got the Flautas and they are literally the size of a burrito so I ended up ordering 5 thinking it was normal size, waitresses didn't even bat an eye at me. Also they fail to ask us if we wanted drinks. Don't get the melted cheese is not even melted Ps only good thing was the salsa, guacamole and chips read more

The food is completely average. More on the bland side. For example the salsa is just tomato paste with salt and the meat is tough and flavorless. They just smother everything in cheese and hope for the best. Not sure why people like this place The real issue is they kicked us out after an hour and 15 minutes. I get you have to turnover the table but we spent $150+ at the restaurant and then got booted. Not a good experience. Wont be going back. read more

AWFUL!!!! This restaurant was terrible. Our sever was so rude. She was rolling her eyes when we asked for things, took 25 minutes to bring our drinks and she was sitting at the table right behind us EATING. So unprofessional!!! When we have to walk up to our server eating her lunch for something that her table needs (like taking our order), that's pretty terrible. Food was so bland. Tasted like canned chicken. My food was supposed to have peppers and onions and it has 2 of each. Beans and rice were awful. Everyone there was so rude. Go somewhere else!!!! Don't waste your time or money. Our whole group of 7 barely ate anything. DONT GET THE QUESO ITS NASTY read more

Great food and plate sizes; this is a family favorite. The decoration and paintings are great conversation starters.

Food was disappointing, so bland. The chips and salsa were good but the salsa had no spice at all. This place used to be so much better.

This place doesn't disappoint if you order the right thing. You definitely won't leave hungry. The portion sizes are huge. We came for lunch with a group of six and got seated right away. Highly recommend the following: Enchiladas with rice and beans Tostada Burritos and Flautas are bigger than my forearm- so if you're extra hungry you'll want to feast on one of those. Didn't love the tacos a little bit dry but I'm also a little bit of a food snob when it comes to tacos. Shredded beef and Carnitas were our favorite. And because chips and salsa come with it all you start happy and you and happy. read more

Food is always great. Last visit was for a to go order. Service was still top notch and the order was ready quickly.

Every time I've been, the food has been amazing. I've gotten something new every time. The portions are huge!

Daily specials come with a huge drink. Getting seated and service was quick. Waitresses were dressed in Mexican blouses! Food was hot and well presented. Wow, so so good! And finally a place that doesn't skim on good portions. Had the shrimp quesadilla and was amazing.

The decorations are really cheesy, like paper cut-outs and tourist items. Abuelos Eat Here sign, etc. Several big paintings of Jesus. I didn't like the atmosphere. The fajitas we got were great. The virgin margarita was great. No complaints about the food. Once we got our food, nobody checked on us. When we asked for the check, the OWNER comes by with a tablet and just a total, no itemization and stands there while we swipe the card. A little embarrassing. read more

I use to go to Maria Bonita's often but moved away from Provo. Now that I'm back I went again today! I had tried calling in to make reservations but no one ever answered. But luckily my group of 4 didn't have to wait to be seated, which I really appreciated! The menu is fairly big so it was hard to decide. Once we ordered the food came pretty quick! We were pleasantly surprised. The food was so good! The chips and salsa we got at the beginning were delicious. The tortilla chips were thin and crunchy. The salsa was a little too spicy for my friend but I liked it. I had taquitos and enchiladas and really liked the texture and flavor. Our friend ordered horchata and it looked amazing! Too many times Mexican restaurants leave me disappointed but I thought the food was excellent at Maria Bonita's. I will be back! read more

1 star because the food was edible but I'm a bit suspicious because it sure came out very fast (less than 10 mins!) for a large order for 8 people. This tells me that the food isn't fresh, unless they have speedy in the kitchen BTW, they don't serve alcohol Food: Meh. It's edible, but nothing you can't make better at home. Also, the complimentary chips is a one time only. After that you'd have to pay $3+. To be fair, rice was delicious. Price: expensive and misleading. I got suspicious when the waitress came up to me with the card machine without giving me the bill like any other restaurants, and my gutt feeling was right. Everything on the bill is a few more cents more expensive. Like $10.99 drink was $11.49, etc. The waitress explained that they charge more for card payments. EEEW! At least disclose before you overcharge people. Don't be fooled by the huge servings. This place is mediocre tasting while being more expensive than most. Besides, the nachos are more chips that toppings. Vibe: it's a small place and it got busy around 4pm before we left. Overall, it's clean and presentable read more

Maria Bonita - The strawberry daiquiri. Skip it, all hype. Non-alcoholic - Mexican Near Me - Orem, Utah

For lunch on Saturday I arrived at Maria Bonita for a nice, quick lunch. Since I arrived at noon, the establishment had its seating fully occupied, but I received a seat within 5 minutes. Shortly after taking a seat and ordering, I received complimentary chips and salsa. My order, the Mojarra Frita Al Mojo de Ajo ($15.99), consisted of fried whole tilapia with rice, beans, side salad, and tortillas. The whole tilapia was fried to a light crisp outside, while the meat remained flaky. The rice, beans, and side salad seemed acceptable, with the lettuce not being super fresh but good enough for a basic salad (like the sort I would make at home). The main selling point was the portion size. Having not had breakfast, I could barely finish the plate. I ended up leaving the tortillas. Overall, this seemed like a prototypical neighbor Mexican food joint experience - no frills & filling. read more

I haven't been here in years and I was so excited to come back and see if it's just as delicious as I remember, and it was! The quality of food here is 10/10. I decided to order the chicken flautas. I've gotten them before and remember loving them. They were just as good as I remember! I forgot how huge they are though! Seriously, you can easily share this dish with another person, probably even 3 people. The flautas are a perfect crispy, and packed full of white meat chicken. The rice and beans were good. I forgot the chips and salsa they bring out have the chips warmed. This is a great touch and make the chips and salsa even better! The flavor of the salsa was delicious. The only bad thing I'd have to say is that the prices have gone up significantly. It's a given for this to happen over time but I feel like their prices are definitely on the higher end. You do get amazing food, big portions, and great service so I guess you do get what you pay for. Come stop by and give this place a try! They get busy so I'd recommend coming in on a weekday night, or come in early on the weekends to beat the rush. read more
