I really wanted to like this place. With the promise of Mexican food and Sinaloa style pollo, this place had the recipe to be amazing. Well, it wasn't.
Why am I at least giving it 2 stars? The chicken was fine. Most of the bites had some flavor to them. The staff were also very friendly to me and my wife. That really matters.
Now, with the good out of the way, let's talk about the bad. With all due respect to the cooks, the rice and beans had NO FLAVOR. I'm Brazilian, I breathe rice and beans, I also love Mexican rice and frijoles however they're served. All I'm saying is, I trust my palate for rice and beans. Unfortunately, this was not it. El Morelense in south Jordan has amazing rice and beans, as a fresh reference in my mind. My half chicken dish came with rice, beans, chicken, a jalapeño, and three tortillas. I didn't even feel like making a taco because I was so underwhelmed by the lack of flavor.
My wife ordered a chicken burrito. She did not have a good time. She has a personal preference for white chicken meat, why am I telling you this? She asked the staff if the burrito contained any dark meat, one of the workers said no, so she went with it. Well... there was plenty of dark meat in the burrito and a lot of chicken nerve pieces, which neither of us are a fan of. The rice and beans in the burrito were the same as the ones from my meal, so they were pretty bland. The green sauce that comes with the burrito was actually decent, but overall the experience wasn't good. read more
