I would say these guys would get 4.5 stars, but obviously that's not an option. I'm not a big dog fan these days, but these place took it to a new level. The "Special Sauce" truly is special. It is so damn good and it softens the typical greasy taste dogs sometimes carry. You can choose from Polish or Regular Beef Dog. I asked all the employees with an 3:2 outcome, Polish taking the win. You can assume what I chose. I didn't know what to do for toppings so I tried sauerkraut, pickles, banana peppers, siracha and special sauce. To top it all off - Apple Beer. Well Jdawgs, it's been a nice run but I'm breaking up with you. I didn't want to just ghost you because I felt I owed it to you to know why we won't be seeing one another anymore. Your dogs were a bit pricey at $4 per dog, but now that you've raised the price to $5 dollars per dog, and you only give me one pickle spear on the side instead of the usual two, you're just not worth it anymore. I've eaten hot dogs at literally tens of places around Utah. My favorite (up to now) was the Exxon gas station in AF. I was blown away by the infinite toppings and the super fresh dog made with chicken, beef, pork, and probably horse and frog for flavor. That said, Jdawgs did not disappoint! Just a superbly crafted hot "dawg" scored and cooked like something straight out of the Flying J test kitchen. The toppings were "top notch", I had mine with jalapenos, banana peppers, onions, pickle, and the "special sauce". 2 words: totally tubular! They also have refillable sodas so you won't go thirsty. You've probably had an average "dog" before, but nothing stands up to a "dawg"!! FYI, my aunt is Japanese and they have a nanny from Belgium which is close to Germany (where sausage is from). Everything is so yummy, from their pillow-soft buns, to their flavorful dawgs, to all their topping options, to most importantly, their amazing sauce, it's all so good. They are not your normal hot dogs. So don't walk in expecting that. Just open yourself up to try something a little different and you may be surprised with how much you enjoy it. I had two items today and ate through the menu. I'm not counting the chips or drinks, but you basically walk in and have your choice of a Polish or a 1/4 dog. Because I never know if I'm going to be at hand to return to a place not in Salt Lake (and generally with new places), I try to order as much of a menu as I can manage. This time was the whole thing, but, of course, that is pretty rare. As to the various offerings, they have Diet Mt. Dew, in a pretty decent mix, so good on them there. The Polish dog was excellent and, in fact, I'll just say it, the best Polish dog I've ever had. Now, I don't usually order Polish dogs, as a general rule, but that thing was utterly fantastic, cooked to perfection. The hot dog ran into a slight problem I like to describe as "Oscar Meyer-ish", which is frequently the case with 1/4 lb. dogs. Nathan's has managed to escape this, as has Johnnie Beef's, but this place has it in spades. This does not mean the dog is bad, by any means, just that it is average. In comparison to the Polish, which I ate first, it was a notable step down. As to condiments, the special sauce is a sort of concoction almost a mix between a Teriyaki/Yoshida's and a barbeque sauce. It was great on the Polish, not so great on the hot dog. I order sauerkraut for the Polish, with just a slight dusting of celery salt, but the sauerkraut is a bit weak and was easily overpowered. If you order it, definitely get more than you normally would on the sauerkraut side. Pickle was ok, but distracted from the hot dog. The salad and jalapeno peppers were also ok. Buns were grilled, as well as the meat, which was a nice touch. Service was very pleasant and pretty fast and they genuinely seemed to appreciate the patronage. Given that I went after 2:00 and they were still pretty jammed is a good testimony to their great skill at dog-slinging and having tasty food, excellently fast for lunch. read more

J Dawgs is good. I wish their menu was a little more diverse, but i'm not complaining. I was a long time regular of the beef combo. Simple beef jdawg with sauce, chips and a drink. Eating two would take some will power - i'm sure people do it all the time but I'd recommend the polish combo for the perfect amount of food. They typically will get you in and out of there pretty quickly - especially on the lunch hour. This is an important thing for me as I have limited time that I can be gone for lunch. Plenty of open seating, and lots of great staff. I'm not sure what else I can really write about this place. I do love that they have great drinks on top, including apple beer. Many people know about J Dawgs from their BYU location well they just opened their second location. This location is in the same parking lot as Best Buy in Orem. When I went to this location I was excited and hoping to receive the same great polish that I have become accustomed to from the BYU location. I was not disappointed. Same great food helpful staff (even if they are in a little bit of a hurry). Prices are great the line moved along at a good step. I was also pleased to find out that they had my celery salt (all you have to do is ask.) I am not sure if the original store had Mt Dew Code Red but this location does and that managed to destroy my new years resolution pretty quick.
