What a gem! We stumbled on this restaurant after our "go-to" restaurant on California was closed ( we really should check the hours). It is a small, cozy neighborhood restaurant that delighted on all fronts. The sangria was unlike anything I have ever had- in a great way- and the menu was excellent. I recommend the croquettes, squid steak, stuffed dates and the boquerones. The dolmes were averagedolmes, but still tasty. I was expecting more "flavor pop" from the Moroccan chicken, but it wasn't there. Maybe whole olives instead of sliced and larger pieces of the preserved lemon? Third and last time I'll be eating here. I was 40 minutes late meeting my friends who got seated right away. They had just gotten their drinks. Two of four staff working were so grumpy. The idea of tapas seems like an excuse to not have the kitchen paced well. Food comes out so randomly. Entrees before small plates completed, but one at a time? Even drinks take at least 20 minutes at their fastest. Empty kegs in the bathroom. Sweaty windows. Food is pretty good, but not worth the wait. Too much vermouth in the Manhattan. I ordered a last drink and the (manager, maybe) said "ok, but it's your last". Um, usually if it's last call, you'd let our table know? Two stars cause two guys were working their tails off running food and trying to stay positive when the place was packed and because my friend liked her entree. read more

A delicious spin on traditional Spanish tapas. Each of the dishes we got was presented beautifully, prepared thoughtfully, and savored delightfully. Flavors were bold without being overwhelming and left an impression. We got the bocarones, paella, beef tenderloin, rabbit, stuffed dates, and maakooda (spiced Moroccan potato cakes). The rabbit was an unexpected favorite with savory olive tapenade, fragrant curry-like sauce and sweet caramelized onions and raisins. Half price wine was a great perk to visiting on Monday- our server recommended the Turasan Emir (Turkey) for a less sweet white. I was apprehensive since my partner asked for the most tart option, but it ended up being crisp and refreshing. My one disappointment is that our server did nothing in reaction to learning that we were celebrating my friend's birthday. Food was ok, but the service was bad. We were ignored by servers for most of our time at the restaurant - we didn't have a dedicated server checking on us, and had to try to wave down a server every time we wanted to order something or needed more water. All the tables around us consistently had wait staff swinging by, but I guess our table was somehow in a dead zone with no one assigned to check on us or take our orders. Took us about 15 minutes upon sitting down to have someone come by just to take our drink orders. Additionally, the food took forever to come out, and some dishes were cold. Itto's Tapas and Kasbah in Portland, OR have convinced me that I need to visit Morocco before I die. I know that I can get tapas in Spain, but what's different about Moroccan tapas is the influence from Middle Eastern cuisine. I've been here twice in one week, and my opinion stays consistent. The food is excellent and hard to complain about. Most dishes had its own bold flavor and complex elements that make it outstanding. Lamb Skewers - 5/5 Boquerones - 5/5 Beet Salad - 4.5/5 Berbere Burger - 5/5 Meatballs - 4/5 Paella - 4/5 The beet salad is great - it's got cumin, garlic, onions, vinegar, cilantro. It is sweet for a salad, but I still enjoyed it because of how tender the beets were. The meatballs were good, similar to what you could find in a shakshuka dish. I wouldn't get them again though. And the paella had a generous amount of meats, including scallops, shrimp, squid, and sausage. However, the shrimp tasted a bit old. This is my first time to try moroccan food, this place was recommended by one of my co-workers and I have been meaning to try it out.. and tonight was the night! What we ordered: 1) Deviled Eggs- Their deviled eggs is by far the best I've tasted. The anchovy on top makes it more tasty without being fishy. 2) Zalook- its an eggplant tomato spread on top of a baguette. I'm not an eggplant fan, but the eggplant on this dish wasn't too obvious at all that I didnt mind. 3) Spanish Paella- hits the spot! It made me feel so nostalgic, my grandmom would always make us this whenever I go back home to the Philippines, and it almost tasted like how paella was made growing up. 4) Harrissa Gambas - Shrimp made with Smoked Garlic, butter and cilantro. Symbolic to the experience at Itto's is that the entrance door opens to the inside. Clumsy and peculiar. Seating is cramped - expect elbows in your chest from neighbors. Terrible acoustics. Service was pretty rough - waiter seemed liked he did not want to be working that night. One item they forgot to put the order in for. And when we asked for the check, we were barked at that one more dish was coming. Some of the food was amazing - such as the octopus. Others. Dined here this evening and continue to be impressed by both the food and Ittos dedication to the community. The beef tenderloin as an entree cooked medium rare is so succulent you can cut it with a fork. The Squid steak is immaculate and delish! As for drinks it's more of a question of what do they not have... they can make you just about anything and the variety of alcohol is set to impress. On a final note, I realized I've been eating here for 6+ years and never had a negative experience. Big part of that is that they aren't pretentious even though tapas bars tend to get that reputation... Ittos is pound for pound the best tapas bar in Seattle. Support Small Business! Fix the WSB! Last night it was time to make another dinner decision and I decided to check Yelp for restaurants in West Seattle. Itto's Tapas menu was very different and had a lot of plates I had never heard or had before so I decided to try it out. When I walked in the place very dimmed light, had a bar top and a few tables. The bartender asked if I wanted to sit in one of the tables in the back or at the bar. I decided to sit at the bar and ordered this delicious drink, Moon over Menara, that had Gin, Egg Whites, and Grapefruit juice. The tapas I ordered were the Moroccan meatballs, Spanish paella, and Maakooda which was a potatoe cake! The best way to describe all this food was a flavor blast. Every bite was flavorful and delicious. Surprisingly the Spanish Paella was a lot of food for a tapa but the rice and seafood combination was perfect. My taste buds and tummy were extremely happy. The bartender/server was very friendly, made recommendations, made sure there weren't any tree nuts in any of the dishes I ordered. The vibe and ambiance of the restaurant was very Spanish/Moroccan cultured and is a great place to go on a date. The location is on a corner on California street so you can't miss it. First of all, it's a cute little restaurant with a romantic ambiance and the server/bartender was incredibly friendly. We recently came back from a trip to Europe and we were so delighted by the laidback attitude of the restaurants and cafes - a no-rush, enjoy your table over some food and drinks kind of attitude - and it really made me wish we observed that kind of culture in the states. Well, all this to say that that was the exact mood at Itto's. Now the menu options! The food was delicious! We ordered the cheese plate, vegetable of the day (Brussels sprouts), lamb skewers, and lamb burger. Though we were sufficiently full, we couldn't help but order the seafood paella after seeing all of the tables around us enjoying their plates. A quaint, cute and trendy Mediterranean tapa bar. You can expect to wait if visiting during traditional supper hours, but it's worth it. Our service was slower than expected, but it appeared to be temporary understaffing for that one night. Otherwise staff were lovely. Food was mostly positive and won over our group. Good place for a mix of Spanish and Moroccan tapas... it seemed more Moroccan to us than Spanish, but good stuff overall. We ordered the Moroccan chopped salad, makooda, vegetable harissa and Moroccan lemon chicken. The chopped salad was great. We like our salads on the lemony and tangy side, and this salad suited is really well. The makooda was well flavoured and tasted good. The harissa vegetable came with the vegetable of the day, and on this day it was Brussels sprouts. The grilled lemon chicken came soaking in its sauce, and while the chicken was tender and tasty, I felt it needed to be accompanied by something. Having the other dishes was good... I would recommend this place for a twist on a tapas place as they mix Moroccan and Spanish dishes. read more

Before Covid, Itto's was our favorite date night spot and we would regularly drive over the West Seattle bridge to eat there. Post Covid, we stopped going out; and then the bridge issues made it harder to get there. But this past weekend we had a small party to celebrate our wedding 2020 style in our yard and decided to order from the catering menu. It. Was. Fantastic. Khalid helped me right size my order (I picked a few too many dishes at first), then was early for delivery, which was great because I was feeling super stressed about timing. The food he dropped off was absolutely amazing. Everyone raved about it, and even stopped by the next day to pack up leftovers (I had still ordered too much despite Khalid's warnings; but what can I say, I was craving all the dishes). Favorites on their menu include the dates, the seafood paella, and the beef tenderloin. Don't be fooled by eggplant on the dates. My kids hate eggplant with a passion and were begging for more of the dates. The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection and the seafood paella was full of so many different delicacies. We aren't planning anymore parties; but we will have to figure out a way to get ourselves out to West Seattle more often. read more

I lived in WS for over a year and a half before I finally tried Itto's... my biggest regret is waiting so long! It's unfortunate that my partner and I have only tried this restaurant since COVID/isolation began - but Itto's really lives up to the expectations. The service is on point, the staff are friendly and kind, and the food is spectacular. I strongly recommend the paella, especially as a takeout order. Big prawns, flavorful rice, good quality seafood, and comforting chorizo - it's everything you want from a home-style paella. And the portion size is truly perfect; I don't feel hungry or snackish, but I also don't feel overly stuffed. It's the happy medium where you're full and happy. It's hard to branch out and try other dishes when the paella is so delicious, but after the recommendations from other reviews, I know what I'll need to come back and try. I think my partner and I are going to find ourselves ordering from here weekly for the remainder of quarantine (and we will definitely be there in person if/when restaurants are allowed to reopen!). What I'm saying is: don't pass up on Itto's. If you're on the fence, you should definitely, definitely try it. read more

This is where I had my first date with my now husband back in 2019. (We got engaged 3 months later) I remember the food being absolutely amazing and we still talk about that date to this day. We ordered the cheese platter, dolmes, stuffed dates and the beef tenderloin. We made it a tradition to go back every year on our 1st date anniversary after we got married. The food is always consistently good as well as the service! My favorite is the beef tenderloin because it's so tender and full of flavor! I've been excited to come here for a few months and was not disappointed. The service was great from the minute we walked in the door. The owners both said hello and our waiter was great. We ordered too much but enjoyed every bite. The chicken bastilla was probably my favorite. We had the Moroccan makooda and the Spanish tortilla. I could have just eaten the accompanying sauces. The lamb skewers were delicious with the eggplant dip that would have been great on it's own. Stuffed dates were great and I dream about the croquettes. They were my husband's favorite. I really enjoyed coming here on a Friday night. It was pretty busy and I found you can linger here easily for a couple hours if you drag out the courses and a couple rounds of drinks. The seating and atmosphere is intimate and a great place for a first date or date night. They have a number of unique cocktails and I really liked the sangria. We had a number of the tapas and just scratched the surface starting with some Brussels sprouts and meat balls. Followed in the second course with the medium rare beef tenderloin and the Spanish paella. We ended the night quite full with some goat cheese fig ice cream with some honey. This is a really good place and the food and service was exceptional although at least one course came a bit cool as other reviewers have noted. This could be because the place is really busy and they prepare each order one at a time. The happiness to cost ratio was quite high here and I was pleasantly surprised the food, service and atmosphere was well worth the price. read more

We arrived on a Friday night around 6 PM and were quoted a 30 minute wait for 3 people. It is a pretty small place and mostly small tables (in the front section at least). It does not seem ideal for groups bigger than 4. After 15 minutes or so of waiting, we were offered a chance to order drinks while we waited. The drinks weren't ready until we got seated anyways, but at least our order was in so it didn't take too long. One drink got me pretty buzzed so my recollection of the food may be biased, but I thought it was great and had a fun time. Drinks we tried in order of my favorite to least: - Macho $12: I am so obsessed with shrubs. This one has blackberry shrub. Delicious. I wish I had ordered my own. - Sangre de Itto $10: I only had a sip, but I thought it was very tasty. It wasn't as sweet as sangrias typically are, but I think it worked. - Berbere Bramble $13: This was my first drink I ordered because I also tend to love cocktails with egg white. It was all right. I think I had been spoiled by tasting the Macho which I liked a lot more. - Campos de Fresa $12: This was the second drink I ordered, and honestly I don't really remember what it tasted like. I just know I didn't like it as much as the others. - Zagora $12: You definitely taste the pepper-yness from the pepper shrub from just a sip. I'm typically not into spicy cocktails, so this is just not for me. Food we tried in order of my favorite to least: - Croquettes $7: So crispy. So yummy with the aioli and whatever else was on the plate. I want more. - Beef Tenderloin $14 tapa size: The sauce was so so good. I wanted to lick the plate but refrained so as not to gross out my dining company. I ended up dipping some of our other items in the sauce too just to get more of it in my mouth. No picture of this because I didn't realize the one I tried to take was super blurry. - Lamb Brochette $10: I wasn't expecting the eggplant dip to be so complimentary for meat skewers. They tried to take away the bowl after the skewers were done but we had to clean out the dip first so it didn't go to waste. - Maakooda $6: This went great with the sauce from the tenderloin. - Tortilla Espanola $5: This was the only food item I felt like I wouldn't want to order again next time. Nothing wrong with it per se, but it was the most bland of what we tried. ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars - Meh. Unlikely for me to return. 3 Stars - OK. Open to coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way to. 4 Stars - Yummy! Will definitely return if I haven't already. 5 Stars - AMAZING!!! I will start with the good: the server knew there was a problem and specifically asked "is there anything I can do to make this right?" And a better person may likely have taken him up on the offer. I am not one such person, if you mess up, I don't really want to tell you what you can do, I want you to be proactive and tell me how you can make it right. Cause, that's on you. I'll get to how they helped "make it better" at the end of this review. Anyway, I was with two couples, sitting fifth wheel, and we kind of ordered by party rather than as a full group. This is obviously not the ideal way to do it but so it goes. We all made our orders and for ease of ordering we just ordered together. This is just for context. I ordered a paella and a tagine. Paella at most places takes time. After 35 minutes someone else's paella came out of the kitchen and went to them. The assumption was mine would be coming. An hour later, nothing. So we canceled that order. At the same time, my tagine has timeliness issues. My friends also ordered a tagine with their batch of items. Their's came out in 10-15 minutes. Mine was no where to be seen. Around 35 minutes we asked about it. The server said he would check on it. Fifteen minutes later, it arrived. The assumption would be that the order was forgotten and put in on the spot. So... yeah. No food. Not timely. But then! Then! My friend is gluten-free and it was made known at the start and the server was great about indicating which items had gluten and what could be modified at the start. My friend's order was skipped as well (like my tagine) and came out at the same time as my tagine (late)... and came with the gluten bread. Which my friend ate. Which he intolerant to. Which is now a medical problem. Another party member talked tot he server. The server took off the items that didn't come out and the items that came out incorrectly. That didn't seem like enough. Server got it down 30% on top of everything. This could have been an off night. But a Saturday night off night is not ideal. We walked out having the bill be "made right" after we really forced the issue and the server recognized the medical risk caused by service. This has easily become one of my favorite tapas place! Ive been a handful of times and each time has been delicious and good service. You'll definitely want to get a handful of items and share with the table so you can try all the goodness! You also don't have to order all at once. We always pick a few items and add on as we see how we are feeling. The beef tenderloins are to die for! So tender, sauce is amazing and the potatoes are perfect amount of crispy. I also loved the Moroccan chopped salad, maakooda (potatoes cakes), stuffed dates, and the lamb. Honestly everything I've tried was good but these are what stood out in flavor.
