Rating is for a concert event, not a club event. Went there for a show with tables in the middle and booths on the corners. Security staff was nice, as well as the server who helped us. Problem was they were sold out with a lot of things, and then when the event was almost over-not one of our dishes even arrived. The server even checked a couple times and the 3rd time we saw her I flagged her down and told her to just cancel the order. She was obviously relieved and even said, "yes that's a good idea"..lol..I wasn't even mad at the server because she obviously was so stressed out. The concert was 2 hours long and no food. Several people complained too of not getting their food. They need to be more prepared if they decide to accept events like that. Or just don't even offer the menu if the kitchen can't deliver. At least the front door staff and serving staff was nice. read more

I went for a concert Saturday. Musics are nice but the club was overcrowded. No space to dance (salsa etc.). It was a battle just to fight your way to the bathroom. With this many people, and they only have 3 stinky dirty stalls in the women bathroom. Drinks were mediocre, hard to find parking around the area too. We did order food while waiting, the steak was good, the prawn was not good, stinky from frozen. The rice was a bit in the salty side. read more

Celebrating Russian Old New Year here! Sounds like an oxymoron but it's an actual holiday. The venue is great, lots of space to dance , two bars for drinks, plenty of tables and a couch to sit down between dance sets. Drinks are decent but besides the cover ($15) they charge $3 for coat check. Drinks are $15 to $17 each. Fun night regardless but lots of cops outside waiting for trouble read more

First time at this venue! It's spacious! I believe it's the same owners as Studio Seven? (Guessing from Facebook) They have a decent bar/booth area facing the street with glass windows. Further in are booths and tables as well as a sectioned off bar. The floor is spacious, the stage isn't that big but big enough for small decent gigs. Sound is great. Didn't have issues with security, they were all kind! I can't say anything about the food or drinks since I didn't have any. But I dig this venue! Plenty of parking around and places to grab some grub and coffee while you're waiting in line! read more

I went for a concert, I liked the artist and enjoyed the music. It's cool that they were able to host the show. Also are waitresses was really nice. One thing missing is a dancing stage. The stage they have is suitable for the band and there is no space for people who want to dance. Another thing is that the bathrooms are on the far side passed that stage and they are hard to access when people are standing by the stage to listen to the music, pretty much all night. Lastly the cocktails were on the pricy side (17$ including 18% auto applied tip). read more

After spending $80 a ticket, we went into the venue, and they had about 10 tables with reserved place cards on them. We were told normally it's $400 a table, but since they had several unsold, we could purchase one for $150.00. At 8:00, people started showing up and sitting at the unsold tables without paying anything. What a ripoff. We had 2 sodas and an order of fries for $19.00 that took an hour. If we left our table, people would sit there, and I'd have to tell them it was our table and we paid $150.00 for it. One woman told me she would just sit there awhile. She sat at our table twice for about 20 minutes. I wouldn't have minded if she'd just been polite and asked if she could sit there. At the bar, they don't give you an itemized bill. Probably because they have a huge tip included in it. At the end of the evening, my friend went to the men's restroom only to be told that both restrooms were being used by women only. ‍ No restroom for the dudes. WTH? Whatever you do, do not look up at the lights. They are caked and dripping with dust. This is a very poorly run business. It's a big disappointing ripoff. Will not be returning. read more

Amazing place for live bands and DJs. People have had issues that I see on here but I've never had those. In perspective going to a smaller venue might suit them but for me this is the best spot to dance and hang out. One time it was a little too cold but compared to any other location this is the best in the state. read more

Like, nobody there at all, and they wanted to charge me some exuberant cover to get into their empty bar. I questioned the cover to get into an empty bar and they promptly informed me it was a "club." Came here for the Girl4Girl event. I won't speak of the event, as this review is for the space.... The space is super cool, I love the set up, the booths, the bathrooms, everything. The menu was deceitful. It had items worded to be "Argentinian" however it was clearly Italian. We ordered what we thought to be a cool dish to try for first time and it ended up be gnocchi in marinara with Italian sausage. MEH. Lucky for us our super awesome waiter wasn't going to let us pay for meh. He also was right there to change the table cloth when we got rowdy in our VIP booth and spilled drinks (a few times) and helped us out with our salted rim problem (SALT on a lemon drop? Gross). Hands down this club is getting three stars because of Dave (Merhg??) our waiter. Literally. I sure hope that guy is getting the recognition he deserves... read more

4 stars for the venue for salsa dancing! Large space, cozy sexy booths, live band, huge bar area. We had a great time as a large group for a birthday party. Was harder to find dance partners then other clubs...seems like everyone was coupled up and didn't want to share. $15 cover seemed a bit high, but it included a lesson. They could consider a different price for those of us not needing a lesson. Decent mixed drinks, not a large wine selection but they had a good smooth red. Although they told us we were drinking Malbec all night and it was a Cab. Warning do not order the food. I give the food 1 star. Everyone talked up the 10oz steak so four of us ordered it and none of us liked it. Meat was over cooked and chewy, no rub or any interesting flavors. Everything that came with it, rice dish & plantains, were so bland! No flavors at all. Overpriced. Very disappointing. I also ordered the $8 salad...looked like taco fillings on my plate. What a joke first of all it's raining outside and me and my gf arrive to go to the club next door but there was a huge line to get in and she had to use the rest room so she comes to "sur" and asks permission to use the bathroom. They quickly said $20 to use the bathroom (in their empty club btw) what a joke. We laughed and said ok nvm. Fast forward we get into the monkey loft and after a few drinks we step outside for a smoke in front of the monkey loft. The security guard from Sur goes out of his way and comes all the way around the corner and starts harassing us and telling us too move away from the building even tho the security guard from the monkey loft has no issue with us. I made one comment about how empty their club was and how he had no right to tell us what to do because we weren't even at his club and he quickly started to make threats of violence and talking crazy letting his insecurities project on me and my group of friends (mostly women btw). If you want to pay and over charge to enter an empty club and get treated like dirt from security this is the best place to go! read more

I've come here for several private events and, as an venue, this place is alright. It offers a very large space for tables, standing, or even dancing; several cozy, large booths; and a stage. I can't speak to the price of food as my host covers that, but the quality is so-so. It's not bad, it's not good...I don't know if it's good enough to be called average. Had I paid for the food I definitely would be complaining though, whatever they're charging it's not worth it. Bar service is hit or miss. Sometimes there's a friendly attentive bartender and other times there's a cranky bartender who obviously just wants to move you through the line. I'll keep coming to Club Sur as an attendee, but I wouldn't book them myself. read more

Dissatisfied w Club Sur's New Year's Eve package for several reasons. Paid for Gold/ VIP tix, which should have included a private table, dinner buffet, champagne toast, party favors, and live music. Online info said buffet 7:30, & music at 8. We got there at 7:40, there was free parking outside the club. But, we had to wait till 8 to get seated. There was a security man there, he scanned me for weapons. After waiting for 15 mins, it was our turn to be seated. Except, there was no table reserved for us. We had a text confirmation for "our" reserved table. We had to wait about 15 mins and were finally seated in a back corner. It was at a table for 6, under a bank of lights. A lady vocalist and a keyboard player opened, they we okay. We asked about the buffet & we were told not to line up yet. We were told to wait until more patrons were seated. We were told that there'd be an announcement. None came, but 15/20 mins later, the crowd started to line up. It was 8:30 & we were very hungry by then. So, now we were at the back of the line. Thankfully, we ate well. We ordered 1 drink for $16, & 15 mins later, we got somebody else's drink. A dj played a decent mix of salsa, bachata, cumbia, & boleros. The live dance music didn't start till after 11pm. There were some sound issues at first & and the dance floor was extremely crowded. At midnight, we didn't have a toast since the waitress forgot about us. We had to chase her down for a very small glass of champagne, maybe 2 ounces of liquid. Some people walked around giving everyone hats & and other party favors. They walked by us, but we managed to get a hat & a tiara. After the band took a break, the dj's music got very loud, so we decided to leave at 12:15. You'd think management would have made sure we were going to be okay after the seating screw-up. Horrible service by our waitress, the waiting around, the poor organization, & the crappy seating situation all added up to a sour experience. We made the best of it, but it's very doubtful we'd go back. read more

1) If you are worried about finding a parking spot, there is a paid parking lot adjacent to the property and also what looks like street parking immediately in front of the door to the club. 2) Cover charge was $15 which I thought was steep at first but was totally worth it for the live band (Cambalache) that was playing on Saturday night. It also includes a salsa lesson if you don't already know how to dance salsa - there are folks here of different ages with different skill levels and you'll definitely feel at home regardless of how much dance skills you have. 3) They have a huge bar area so that means you won't get squeezed and crowded trying to get a drink. Also, don't let the exteriors fool you - behind the restaurant side is a HUGE dance floor. This is where the dancing happens and it's sectioned off by curtains from the entrance area. 4) Food is fantastic here! They serve classic Cuban fares like tostones, yuca frita and I can't remember the name but it's a Cuban version of carne frita which was delicious. They also have main entrees as well if you're in the mood for a fuller meal, we only did appetizers. Overall, I would highly recommend this place - friendly people, awesome venue, great live performances and fun experience for everyone in our group! read more

I was having fun with my friends and one of my friends and I went to the bathroom together and they told us we have to leave because we were using the bathroom together I don't think it was right for them to do that to us. We were doing nothing wrong at all! They need to get new staff at this club. I won't be going back till this gets fixed. If anyone goes to this club they need to watch out for the staff. Huge space. Was there for something called "Seattle Latin Rock Fest 2016". Sounded cool. $8 cover, starts 6pm. 7:45 - That's right, almost two hours later, a performance begins. A solo act. ( This is meant to be a review of the club, not the acts, but if you are interested...A guy rakes the stage and performs some totally bizarre performance that included stripping to his underwear, applying Joker inspired make-up, faux beating a man on the floor....it was boring and ridiculous. Okay, he was speaking Spanish and playing guitar so I guess that somehow made it fit the description. It was metal guitar meets a one man freak show. ) 8:15 - Act two, a two man group. (More meal guitar that was hurting my ears, literally and figuratively.) 8:45 - I left. I was there for almost three hours, saw just two acts (both awful), and paid $8 for a tiny, vodka tonic in a plastic cup, the kind you get in motel rooms, yeah, that small. That fact that the music sucked is not important because maybe some people would have loved it (although I saw two people in a group of about 150 that seemed interested). The lateness, sad drinks, and loudness are items I think almost anyone would agree with. read more

My wife and I chose to have our wedding at the club sur venue. The entire experience from beginning to end was so smooth thanks to Leslie the manager and her wonderful team the food was amazing all our guest loved it. I would 100% recommend this place as a restaurant and as a venue. read more

Went out for the Girl4Girl night, and it was fun. The food wasn't that great. Seemed like they were trying to say there food was Latin but it was Italian, and not worth it. The waiter ended up taking it off of our tab ( he was great). The drinks were better but we had to re-order our drinks a few times because the bar kept getting them wrong. The music was good and the crowd was different. I'm willing to give it one more try, but then again... My first choice wouldn't be Club Sur. On a positive note, it was a very nice place, very clean and the bathrooms were very upscale. It was a very well kept spot! Dave Merhg was our waiter and he was great, he might be one of the soul reasons my friends I will go back. He is the only reason this review is getting three stars and not two! read more

I attended two events here (Zumba in the Club) and the first time, I was extremely disappointed in the service. Management was made aware of how big the crowd would be in order for them to ramp up their staff to accommodate. When we first walked in, we were impressed with the space, beautiful booths and excited for the night. Our server came over, brought us our appetizers and our sparkling wine (we had a choice of red, white or sparkling). That was extent of what our server did for us. We didn't see him the rest of the evening except to pass right by our booth. We had to stop servers to order anything else and when we did, they never came back. The food was OK. We ordered waters but they were charging $4.00 for a bottle of water. Outrageous - sounds a little greedy to me. They didn't offer any tap water so a lot of people at the event were really upset about that. The second time I came here, I wanted to give the club another chance. Good news, they did not charge $4.00 for a bottle of water. However, the lack of customer service was clearly evident. We saw our server twice in the beginning when she brought out our appetizers (which I found out later, they shorted us on) and only offered us two choices for wine (red or white) where we were supposed to given an option for sparkling. Again, that was the extent of what our server did for us. Didn't see her the rest of the night. Granted, there were a lot of people and they were probably short-handed but again, they knew how many people would be at the event. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and Zumba in the Club was a success. I can't say anything bad about the space: booths were beautiful and very open. It is a great place to hold an event, given just the physical space. Customer service is very lack-luster. I probably wouldn't come here on any regular day given the experiences I've been through. A slower day might give me better service but I'm just not impressed. read more

This place has a lot of potential. The decor is simply intriguing, the food is good and appropriately priced. The service was inadequate I think because this restaurant may have been understaffed. Our waiter was very friendly and pleasant when he was there, but he wasn't there enough for us to tell. The manager was not friendly when I voiced my concern about the SOUND PROBLEM (BAD ACOUSTICS; UNBEARABLE DISTORTED NOISE) Whatever you can call it. (My ears hurt and are still buzzing 4 hours later) The band had some excellent players as I have heard them in other venues, but this echo chamber of a space is not ready for live music. My girlfriend and I went there specifically for the entertainment, hoping to dance some on the wonderful dance floor in front of the stage, but we ended up leaving early, after spending $20 cash cover (non-refundable) plus 38 dollars in light fair menu items that were good/adequate. The entertainment was hard to judge. The manager blamed the loud sound and uncomfortable atmosphere on the band's sound engineer and the band. Either way we went there for the music first, and it was obvious at the outset that this venue "Sur Seattle" is aiming for a "Total Experience type place" The management needs to step up here. I am totally disappointed! PS - The management needs to identify the acoustical problems and fix them before passing the blame on any band or sound engineer. PPS - menus, water and salt and pepper shakers at the tables would also help! read more

Saw Wintersun here last night. Awesome sound system in a fairly accessible part of SoDo. However, a change in venues can't change the shitty management that Studio 7 had. Was enjoying the venue fine until I went to go get some water after a bit of moshing and there wasn't a single tap available, and the only water available was bottled water for sale. A venue geared towards punk rock/metal music but doesn't provide accessible drinking water to its patrons isn't very punk rock. read more

Very bad service. This is my first visit to the bar because of a Zumba event, which means everybody is dancing. Someone knocked over a bottle of water, but nobody came clean that up, which is very easy slip and dangerous. The waiter was just standing there watching, didn't do anything. read more

How does this place not have more stars?? I LOVE this club. The bartender (owner?) is the MAN. They stay open way later than they're "supposed" to. The live music is great. All different kinds of dancing, plus great food is available, which seriously comes in handy. This place is great. I've been to 3 dance events here and they were all perfect. I'm only giving 4 stars because they could do with a better dance floor. I attend Fusion events all over the country, which is a mix of Salsa, Blues, Swing, Tango, Bachata, Cha cha, Kizomba, Zouk, and more. Stopped by here one day after work for a quick bite to eat. Was really excited to find a decent Cuban sandwich in Seattle. This place looks small on the outside, but don't be fooled. It's huge! We walked around checking out the ballroom area while we waited for our food. Pretty snazzy. I'd seriously be interested in booking this place for future events. The food was amazing and decently priced. I was not disappointed. Plenty of parking when we got there. Swung by for a meetup that is hosted here. The restaurant is spacious, has a stage for dancing and bands, and is one of the few Cuban / South American specialty places in the area. After changing hands since its inception, it is now run by a Peruvian and serves Cuban-inspired meals and drinks most nights while rarely turning to Peruvian fare and drinks. (Not sure if / when the latter is advertised, but I'll be sure to check it out when it is.) Parking at Home Depot around the corner (after 6 PM, according to the signs) seems like the best bet. It is a Nice place with terrible sound sistem, it may be better for acoustic shows. Latin people is always famous for being friendly, sadly not At this bar. Also I bought vip tickets for a show because I thought it would be a little cozy but I think they over sell tickets so the "vip area" gets so crowded, not worth it for a VIP For guests safety It would be ideal having a different organization system for bigger events and not to over load the venue. I may think twice before going back even if another of my favorite bands are playing at Club Sur. read more

I'm sure this is a cool place to chill and eat and get a drink or something, but why are they hosting music shows as a venue? There's never any advertising for who is going to be there when, the sound is awful, and they put a fence up to border the bar and stage, making the viewing area for what ever artist you want to see very small and tight allowing only a few people to watch a show, and the fence goes right up to the side of the stage making it even smaller. I mean if you want to see what seems to be a missed-booked band there you better hope 6 other people didn't show up or there won't be any room. read more
