All I wanted to subscribe was the Chinese TV channels. I ended up also paying for the long distance phone service that I never needed. When I called to cancel my account subscription six months ago, the customer service person didn't tell me that I also had the phone service. I found the continued monthly charges and called again, and they only agreed to reimburse me for one month fee. It is not a large amount of money, but how come none of their customer service people would tell you clearly what you subscribe and what they charge you. Today I found that italkBB continue to charge my credit acccount, despite I called to cancel all services with them more than a month ago (to some, that is not bad at all). In the middle of night, I called their 24/7 customer service, which is like the front desk of the Hotel California. The Rep said sorry to learn how I feel etc. She doesn't have authority to completely cancel all ItalkBB services. That requires the "Cancel Customer Service" to call me back and handle. I asked why they still charging my credit card, she said looking at the conversation record, they stopped my Chinese TV service the last time I called, but the land phone (VOIP) service is still on, thus monthly bills continue. Just everyone realizes that the land service is the (high level) base service that you must have before you will have any other services. If italkBB's willing to pay $60/month to keep my "land phone" connected, I would have declined it because scammers call you every day and from dawn to midmight. It is very hard for italkBB because there is nothing they offer you cannot get from internet free of charge, except admittedly, some Chinese movies and shows cannot be streamed into the US without some special equipment. But if you are so busy working or studying, so much stuff in the Youtube can fill the void. read more

I signed up for a TV streaming box from iTalkBB a few months ago, which was fine at first. But they recently contacted me out of nowhere and told me that I was responsible for a phone number sending out illegal spam messages! They told me I signed up for a phone number through them (I never did that). They told me I had provided a picture of my passport to them to verify my identity when signing up (I DEFINITELY never did that). Then they told me that the signup was from an IP address in China two weeks ago, when I haven't left the United States. So it obviously wasn't me, but they still were trying to tell me that I would be in trouble! They wanted to get my real phone number canceled, they wanted to involve the Shanghai police department... Just an absolute nightmare being put on me, when it was actually their own problem with allowing a fraudster to sign up. The whole call was very suspicious, like they were trying to scam me or get something out of me, although I can't quite figure out how. iTalkBB needs to get their security under control and not try to dump their own problems on their legitimate customers. If this is any indication, at some point their entire block of phone numbers might get blacklisted for allowing too much spam, which would not be fun if you were trying to use one for your own phone! You will probably want to stay away unless you like dealing with incompetence and bad security. read more

I've been their customer since August 2009. The last few years the phone service was poor and often time not connected for whatever reasons. I finally decided to terminate the service and port my number to my T-Mobile service but I'm having a hard time doing so. Italkbb just would not release the number. I've send in the request or T-Mobile have sent in the request since 6/6/2022 more than a week ago. As of today, there's still no status. In the meantime, for the past week, T-Mobile kept texting me message saying that the transfer request was unsuccessful because of wrong zip code. After multiple checks on both T-Mobile and italkbb, the zip code of mine is the same in both accounts. The transfer finally sent me an email with information I need to transfer my number. In the email, it has my account ID, my BBN, my name and the Texas company address. We were asked to use the Texas zip code and we did. I was told it'll take 4 hours for them to respond and now it's another couple days gone by, its still no words. I called but they said they will call back but always not able to get to the transfer department directly to talk to anyone. I told them if this doesn't got resolved asap, I'll contact the consumer affairs and other media to tell my horrible story. I definitely would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Trying to cancel their services. Called their Chinese Customer Service line but was on hold for a long time. Finally got through their English Speaking line. However I was told their cancelling department had to call me back to complete the cancelling request. The cancelling department called me a couple of days later and told me I just auto renewed the services for a year three days ago and I had to call next year before the term expires to go through the cancelling process. I told them I am willing to pay for the fees for the whole year but please make a cancelling request for me now so I would not have to go through this frustrating experience all over again next year. They told me they could not do so and I have to call them to cancel 15 days before the term expires next year. They said they would send me an email for me the confirm my email so next year they would send me a reminder before the term expires. However when I click on the link the link is invalid. If less than Zero rating were possible, I would give such a rating! This is the worst company I have ever worked with. I used their iTalkBB TV box so that my mother could watch Chinese programs. First, I had to pay $49.99/year for Renting the box, in addition to $10/mo for the phone service. I told them that I don't need the phone service, only the TV box for Chinese programs, then I was told that I would pay $15/mo if I don't use their phone service! Blood suckers! I had to keep the phone service even though the phone service has never been used. Fast forward, at the first day of the second year, I was charged another $49.99 for renting the TV box for the whole year. Within one month, I needed to cancel the TV service, since my mother had left for travel. I was told, not only do I need to pay another month of phone service which has never been used, but I won't get any refund of the $69.99 charge for the whole year, even though, I had only used it for less than a month. Additionally, I need to return the box to them within 15 days, or I'll be charged $75! This company is all about finding ways to charge you more fees, rather than providing good customer service, and a good customer experience. The calls to cell phone in Jiangsu got blocked twice in the last two months. Customer service of iTalkBB is good, but it took them a few days to solve the issue and most likely the issue will come back. iTalkBB insisted that I must pay a $100+ penalty to terminate the contact. Although the root cause is that Chinese cell phone company is blocking oversea's calls for unknown reasons, ITalkBB should have allowed me to terminate my contract without penalty since it can no longer provide the service to me as expected when I signed up. The advistised price is not what you pay for. There is a lot of hidden charges from monthy to yearly. For example, the advistised price for internet, TV and home phone is $49.98 per month. Once you signed up, you find out that it added $4.99 per month for phone and anothe 50 some dollars per year for TV. Later, I was also told by customer service that the monthy fee for phone is not $4.99 as shown in the contract, it will be $8 something plus tax because of some rental cost. If you want to cancel it, it cost almost one year of charges. My recommendation is not to use it. read more

Just end up a call with customer service dept. They clearly said "you should take a look at your contract carefully before sign" I HIGHLY AGREE! I should not trust their sales ppl who tried to sell their service/devices to me. They are liar. They do not do refund, do not care how angry their customer is, and just want to get some quick money from people like us. In the back of the contract, it stated there is a cancellation fee. But in the front, sales will just tell you you can cancel anytime if you want within 90 days. Actually free cancellation is only within 30 days, but the service is free for 90 days. If you get your money back, good for you, if not, accept it and away from them. Shame on them as a Chinese. I am absolutely agreed with some other customer's comments, if there is no star rating, this company deserves 0 star rating after I found out what's really happened with my account and talked to the customer service department manager Li a few days ago I have been a customer with the I Talk BB since 2010, at the year of 2015 I added the TV Service since then. After I added the TV Service 2015, I have only 2 accounts with I Talk BB, one is the phone service, the other one is the TV Service. What happened is at July 2022, I have received a new TV receiver box, after many time use the receiver box has not working well, the TV always freeze and the remote can't do nothing. I have called I Talk BB about these issues 3 weeks ago, they told you to unplug the power plug and wait about one minute and try it again, it works about 30 minutes and the same issue again, TV was freezed. Then I decide to cancel the TV Service last week.aftet I called in, one of staff asked me , which TV account I l like to cancel? I was like WHAT? How come I have 2 TV Service accounts now? I have only use 1 TV receiver box since 2015, I have been charged for 2 TV Service accounts since July 2022 !! This is a mistake made by I Talk BB staff and employees, not me ! I have asked to refund the over charged 4 months TV Service fee probably $20 plas tax. After talked to the customer Service manager Li, he was denied my request and also played the phone records about 20 seconds, but he told me there are 2 phone records back to July 2022. 1 is about 18 minutes long, another 1 is about 3 minutes long. I have iTalkBB TV service (use a few years), home-base phone service (not use), and cell phone service in USA (use a few years) and China (use this year). From signing up, receiving TV box, payments, to customer service, everything have been smooth. Their TV service is super in terms of number of programs, low cost, easy of use, and auto save a few days of programs on some channels. They also help you get Comcast internet service at discount. You need internet to watch their TV programs. Their cell phone service is good in terms of voice quality, cover area in USA, unlimited free rooming in USA and China, free minutes calling between USA and China, and a sizeable countries. The data part is 1-gb high, rest low-speed in USA, and 1-gb high in China, need to pay for more gb in China. To sum it up, good service, good price. I will keep using iTalkBB. read more

I subscribe ItalkBB because they provide me a China mobile sim card. For work reason, I need a sim that receive verification code from China. You know, it doesn't make sense to fly back China only for one sim card. Any I don't want my business stuck there because of losing the verification code. Italkbb solved this big problem for me. I recommend, because the reasonable charge. Once I lost my sim, they don't charge the activation fee. You know, most telecom company will charge you more whatever the sim was lost or broken. WARNING: LONG REVIEW/RANT! Read at your own risk! I have been using iTalkBB service for over a year now, and was happy that they have opened a store location in Fremont. So naturally I opted to go to the store to sign up for their iTalkTV service, so I can get my hands on them TV boxes right away instead of waiting for the company to ship them over to my house, plus, I don't have to pay shipping fees! The registration was very fast since I am an existing customer, and my TV service works like a charm, up until today. iTalkTV is an online streaming TV service that offers many mandarin channels at a much cheaper rate than you would pay for DirectTV or DishNetwork. So as long as your internet is working fine and you hooked up the TV box right, you should have no problem accessing the many channels offered. However, today while having dinner, we turned on our TV only to find it at constant loading status. After a full 10min of waiting and checking our connection and set up, we have reached the conclusion that there must be something wrong at the company end. Then a few minutes later one of our friend, who also is using iTalkTV service called us, and they have the same problem with unable to view TV, and they live 30miles away from us. So naturally, my response was to pick up the phone and call the Fremont store, and check with them to see if their TV service in the store is working. After explaining my problem to the girl who answered the phone and kindly asked if she knew what was going on, she just gave me the 'call customer service" reply. So I told her I just wanted to ask her if the TV in the store was working, just to make sure if it's a local problem or something going on at the company end, and she told me that the TV in the store was working fine, and then told me again to just call the customer service number. With her answer, I thought it was probably an individual problem, and a mere coincidence that my friend and I have the same problem even though we live 30miles apart. Meh, so I picked up the phone and called their TV customer service, which gave me an automated message about maintenance on March 4th, then busy line. After several tries with no success at reaching a real person, I got frustrated and called up iTalkBB (the phone service part) customer service line, since they are from the same company anyways. The representative was kind enough to tell me that they just received news that the TV is undergoing maintenance and would be out for roughly two hours. Aha! So it wasn't my problem, and the girl at the Fremont store just outright lied to me! Just to double check, I called their store in Milpitas, and the guy who answered the phone was honest enough to tell me that the TV system was shut down and is currently undergoing maintenance. I don't know why the girl would lie to me. it takes only 2 minutes at most to check if the TV in the store is working or not. Instead of being helpful, she chose to lie to me just to get me off the phone. Well... I will continue using the service because it is dirt cheap compared to other companies, but I'll be damned if I refer any future customers to this location. I'm an international student studying at US and need to call back to my parents very often. I've tried many long distance phone services and most of time they are not user friendly and very complicated to use. e.g. you have to type bunch of pin number and that wastes you lots of time. So I heard that iTalkBB has a different phone service that can generate a local phone number for you to call back. That means it gives you a phone number that easy to remember and exactly look like a local phone number in your hometown. What's even better is that it can also generate a local number for your parents so that every time they want to call you they can just dial a local number and this number can reach to you finally. Don't trust!! Dishonest. ItalkBB had a prize wheel at their booth at a local fair. I spun it and win a free year TV service. While I don't watch Chinese TV, I thought it would be something my mom could enjoy. The sales person told me I won free service for a year but what he FAILED to mention was it was combo with phone service, that I DID NOT need but being force to pay for. They told me they didn't have any more English forms so I had to fill out the Chinese one. I can't read Chinese but that was the only form they had. A couple of months later, I notice charges on my credit card and called the company to ask about because it was suppose to be free service for a year. They told me the TV service is free but it was combo with phone service that I had to pay about $10/month. I explained that I was never informed of any phone service. It's not really winning anything for free when you still have to pay for a service you don't need. Every time I called I selected an English-speaking operator but seems like they don't have too many of those. So they told me someone will call me back. I would have to wait a few hours or even the next day before getting a call back. After days of talking, there was nothing they were willing to doing. So they pulled me in with FREE, neglect to tell me what was not, took advantage of the fact that I can't read Chinese, and now I'm stuck paying for a service I don't need or pay the penalties for cancelling the contract.
