Very disappointed with our experience at Island Grill. We ordered a dozen oysters and two grouper filet dinners, and our bill came to $155. For that price, we expected a much better meal. The food was mediocre and definitely not worth the cost. The one bright spot was the service--it was friendly and attentive. What a horrible place to eat ! We ordered clam chowder and was brought conch chowder without telling us they had run out of clam chowder at 4pm. The frozen key lime margarita was watered down. The lobster roll was so bad it was uneatable. The lobster tasted old, was dry and had nothing added to it. It was $36 and we left it intact. Our experience at this restaurant was disappointing from start to finish. When we arrived, the host asked if we preferred to sit inside or outside. We told him we didn't care as long as we weren't too close to the live music. Despite that, he seated us directly in front of the performer, who was playing quite loudly. Things went downhill from there. The food was almost entirely flavorless and tasted like it had been previously frozen. Even the oysters looked and tasted frozen. Our waiter kept pushing the expensive lobster dish--maybe because it was the only fresh item on the menu. By the end of the meal, we waited nearly 20 minutes for our check while the waiter repeatedly walked past our table without making eye contact. We were so frustrated we almost left cash on the table and walked out, but we had no idea what the total would be. Everything was overpriced, under-flavored, and the service was terrible. Driving down south and we decided to stop at Island Grill. We were seated right away on the covered outside deck. Nice breeze even though it was 93 degrees! Very comfortable. We tried the daily special appetizer: coconut Thai mahi finger! Delicious! Had a few cocktails and dessert. Our server Daniel was very nice and efficient.
