Plenty of fish in it overcame the actual size of the tacos, but it doesn't come with a side. Soft corn tortillas. The wings were the star of the show, I think it's a relatively new recipe. Jumbo wings, I'd suggest getting them well done because of how thick they are. Great sauce, love the peppers and pineapple and blue cheese crumbles. Why is one of the most beautiful physical plants, for a restaurant, with STUNNING views, struggling to get to a four star rating? Located in the Cheeca Lodge Hotel, one of the oldest, and now one of the grandest resorts in the Keys, period, Atlantic's Edge falls victim to the owners' understanding of what a resort should be. A place is only as good as the people in it. Five star look. Three star hospitality, at best. Four star food, at six star prices. Breakfast/brunch is the best time to take in the view, other than a pre-sunset dining experience. I've been coming here for 20+ years. The dining room is a bit like a roller coaster. With the right chef, and a tighter staff? It can really rock. At the moment? It's more of a psychic: A medium. Hospitality: They have tried to address the ago-old problem of the Keys. It's hard enough to find someone who will show up to work: on time; sober. To fix this problem, they bring in a ton of H1-B visa workers, mostly from the Caribbean. Some of them are really wonderful. They "get" hospitality, and do it with warmth, and human connection. The majority, though, are doing the job that they're told to do, but without any heart, soul, or desire to be there doing it. Many seem a little afraid of the people that they're serving, and speaking out of turn. If you choose to engage them, and they realize that it's okay, they open up, quite a bit. The problem is that that level of "friendly" should be 100% of the time, every day. You're "on" in the five-star hotel game, every time you hit the building. This, sadly, Cheeca charges for, but doesn't deliver. At a cheaper hotel? That wouldn't be noticed. At a resort that aspires to the category of hotel that this should be? Very noticeable. My egg white frittatas took about 15 minutes to order, and another 20 to show up. The waiter asked me for bread choice? I said English muffin. Out came whole grain toast. The dropper had no idea what to do about the mistake. He was going to take the whole thing BACK, which would have seen it stone cold, on arrival. I suggested that he should ask for a muffin, instead, and let the waiter know. The muffin showed up, as I was done. The waiter had no idea, and didn't really know what to do/say about it either. Bad write of the ticket? Bad read in the kitchen? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Service, at competence, is a problem with most Keys restaurants, the Square Grouper, and Ziggie and Mad Dog's, obvious standout exceptions to the Keys Rule, that proves that it can be done here. When the Lodge took over Pierre's, a couple of years ago? It was once the other top destination restaurant in Islamorada, and the Keys, they crashed it, within months, with the same thing. Imported workers who aren't screened for hospitality, and don't have the chops, in terms of their interactions with other people, to do a five-star job. At the five-star prices? It's kind of insulting, unless... People will always come to a beautiful place like this. Ownership's message to you is EXPECT LESS. You'll get used to it, while we charge you as if you were at Torrey Pines, or another hotel that delivers the over-the-top hospitality, that a place like Cheeca Lodge, and its restaurants, should be more than capable of rising to, at the nightly room rates/ food/bar charges. read more

Ok the food and view are worth the every single penny! So fresh and great flavors. Presentation was top notch. Obviously the view speaks for itself. Located into the cheeca lodge resort, it's one of five onsite restaurants available. They offer covered seating, patio and beach seating. We came for a later lunch when we arrived (around 1:30) and sat in the garden patio area. 4 out of 5 only because it took 20 minutes for someone to come by and greet us. Very impressive restaurant in the Cheeca Lodge, and you can visit even if you're not staying at the hotel. My friends and I went for a special birthday dinner and it was really nice to sit right by the water and watch the moon rise over the Atlantic Ocean while we ate our meal. The food is definitely upscale (with prices to match), but the portions are really decent. We got the Octopus appetizer which was amazing...really the best part of the meal! I then opted for the Blackened Grouper and a side of the Parmesan Cheese Fries (sides are all separate), both of which were very good. Another person in our group got the 10 oz. Filet which looked gorgeous on the plate. The service was very professional, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu and all the specials that night. DO NOT DINE HERE. Where to start. From the moment my husband and I walked in, we got a bad taste in our mouth. The hostess did not greet us, smile, anything. It seemed that we were inconveniencing her with our presence. Instead, I said hello, and informed her we had reservations. She was looking over my shoulder the whole time, maybe looking for her other hostess(who had both AirPods in the entire time we were there)? Not sure, but it didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. She asked for our name, but didn't ever look at her ipad to confirm anything. We called previously to reserve a waterside table, which was not available when we arrived. I moved past the table issue & tried not to let it get to me, even though it is our anniversary and I called specifically to get that arranged for us. Then it took probably 10 minutes for our server to stop by the table. She also seemed to be talking to a table for the first time. We got our order in, and then waited AN HOUR for a medium filet & fried fish to arrive. That's when we drew the line. The potatoes were ice cold, my filet was cut into pieces... and there was a VERY obvious black hair on my plate. We waited a good 5 minutes before the server came to check on us, and obviously it's not her fault so we asked to speak to a manager. We could see him the whole time all of our issues were going on, because he was standing at a table with an older couple, who also had many problems. Our poor server tried to get his attention for at least 5 minutes, but he didn't even look up at her. What a shame. I am not exaggerating, three other tables had problems with their food, out of the maybe fifteen tables in the whole restaurant. As someone who has worked in the service industry their whole life, do better. What a joke of a restaurant this is. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. The hype does not match what you are getting. We didn't wait long to be greeted or the food to arrive even contrary to what ppl say about service in the Keys. My husband and I both got the yellowtail snapper and it was good. I eat a lot of seafood so I can not say it was great but it was good! We also ordered mashed potatoes, mushrooms and creamed spinach. I did not like the mushrooms, they were fried and not what I expected but likely my fault did not reading the menu closer. My hubby love the creamed spinach. I stopped by Atlantic's Edge restaurant located in the Cheeca Lodge & Spa for breakfast. The rooms are tops, the staff super attentive and the food very good, though I would not say exceptional. Maybe my expectations were too high, but after all this is the Keys where unique culinary arts first really took place in the form of Fusion of New World ingredients using old world culinary techniques and the now well-known Floribbean. They did offer an Alligator Reef Lobster Blt Omelet but I only found spiney back lobster in it, I also tried their Classic Eggs Benedictine which was to have been made with a "Drizzled with Key Lime Hollandaise Sauce." Trust me, the "Drizzle" was just that, a mere drizzle, hardly topping the egg, and the ham, really skimpy thin as well as over cooked to the point of having a shoe leather texture. The place us, however, drop-dead gorgeous, overlooking the beach itself makes a stop at Atlantic's Edge totally worthwhile. We chose Cheeca Lodge for a company award trip when travel to the BVIs was not possible. The first night on property, we had dinner at Atlantic's Edge. This was to be our celebration dinner for this getaway. There were some pros and some cons. The setting is amazing! Outdoor seating overlooking a beach and the marina area. A very nice live musician playing soft background music. However after being seated, we were given no menus or utensils. We sat for at least 10 minutes before being greeted. Then had to ask for said menus and utensils. Our party of six had a lot. Multiple appetizers, steaks, fish, etc. along with champagne, wine, beer and cocktails. A very hefty tab to say the least. The food was good but not great. The service was subpar. The server was so slow to get to us and didn't know a lot about the menu options. We did sit for a bit, but also some of that was due to how long the meal took. They started turning off the outdoor heaters around us. So rude. I only took photos of mine and my husband's meals. The shrimp cocktail and the crab cakes were really good for the appetizers but the octopus was way over cooked. Fish entrees were OK but a tad dry. Steaks were pretty good. I would try it again and hope for better service. read more

Staying at Cheeca Lodge. Dined at Atlantic, shared the mahi, the garden salad, the crab cakes, and the shrimp & scallops. With two mojitos (Cuban classic, were excellent) and an espresso, the bill came in just under $200. There was live music on the terrace. Service was fine and the servers were friendly enough. I personally didn't love the shrimp and scallops, the salad, mahi and crabcakes were fine. Based on our enthusiasm of the meal, we declined dessert and went out to Key's Chocolate & Ice Cream. ‍ Update: Returned the following morning, around 7:30am on 12/21, for breakfast. The cheeca breakfast (two eggs any style, choice of toast and breakfast meat was simple and perfect, everything fresh... the staff are all so friendly, especially our server, Bree! after spending 2 months in islamorada as we do every year , we decided to go to Atlantic edge to celebrate our 4 year anniversary . I totally regret my choice . We have been here before and tonight I was very disappointed. I ordered a chopan martini and got a glass of chopan (not a martini ) , ordered mussels for appetizer and they were over cooked . Very disappointed! I ordered a garden salad with grilled shrimp that were undercooked . My boyfriend ordered pork chops that were all fat . He never sends anything back and had to send them back cause they were NOT edible . In turn , he ordered skirt steak which was not even ok ... as a side we ordered cream of spinach which was terrible . We eat out a lot and have no problem spending money on a great meal , 250 later and probably the worst meal I have had in islamorada. I will never go back ! read more

the restaurant service is awful, we dined here on March 16th at Atlantic and Claire was EXTREMELY rude, did not want to answer any of our questions, had a rude tone to anything we asked, and then when given the espresso we ordered she did not want to bring a spoon to stir the sugar and asked if we could use the FORK (which we used to eat) to stir the sugar with in our espresso.... When she served us the espresso she stated "can you use your fork to stir, thanks" and left. For the price you are paying to stay at the resort plus the pricey restaurant you would expect an elevated dinning service and not a rude waitress that refuses to bring you a spoon to stir your sugar in your coffee. Such an unpleasant experience. On the other hand, when we went for breakfast they were nice and we had another waitress so that was actually a good experience. Decided to end my Florida trip at a posh restaurant. This place lives up to my wishes and then some. I came here specifically for the seafood bounty im coconut lemongrass garlic broth. I actually didn't see that it had coconut until I got here. I was now sceptical but no matter. It. Was. Delicious. This is not like a Thai curry or something like that. The sweetness of the coconut was front and center, garlic secondary. The shellfish went so well with it though. The coconut blended especially well with the shrimp and lobster. I am going to try my best to keep this short but that may be impossible. We had reservations Thursday night at 630 for 4. Our first server ignored us and literally just kept ignoring us. Finally 45 minutes later we got a new server after I complained to a random server. No one in my party even had a drink till 745. Appetizers were sub par at best. The dinners were mediocre as well. They keep this restaurant so poorly lit you cant even see your meal. However, the kicker is when the server would not even hand us the check. She readily asked us to play credit card roulette and wouldn't hand us the check. We kept saying no we would like to see check she then gave it to another waiter who handed it to us and walked away. My party and I were looking at each other in disbelief. What is going on here? Then we see we were charged incorrectly for our wine. Charged for a bottle of Jordan instead of Justin which is almost double the price. Took another 30 minutes for them to figure it out. Finally a manager (2+ hours later) decided to introduce herself to us and "fix" things when the night was over. At that point we all just wanted to leave and go home. The night was ruined. Points consider - Did not get a single drink for 60 minutes then apps in almost 75 - Apps were not good. Shrimp cocktail was not fresh steak was chewy and bland - Server attempted to get us to pay without seeing check, then 30+ plus minutes later we finally got to leave - Restaurant lowered bill from $500 or so to $294...Meal should of been free, HORRIBLE service, mediocre food, and servers who are unwilling to provide itemized checks Do your self a favor and DO NOT go here. We had dinner here after our son got married. There were just six of us, but we were treated like royalty. It was the perfect end to a perfect day. I had a seafood combo with a coconut- lemon grass - garlic sauce and sushi rice. It's the absolute best meal I have had in years! No exaggeration. Great view! We wanted to find a place with great ambience, and this place did not disappoint. There was only one, small disturbance during our dinner because of an intoxicated guest. If our table had been further from the tiki bar, we would not have even noticed. The restaurant is located in the Cheeca Resort and very easy to find. For dinner, we started with their Local Greens which contained lots of delicious heirloom tomatoes. For entrees, we ordered the Herb Crusted Seared Grouper and Mojito Lime Snapper. The grouper was super meaty and was placed on top of a large, green and yellow bed of edamame and corn. The snapper was well-seasoned and came with a large portion of cilantro rice. The grouper dish was delicious, but I do think the cilantro rice paired with the snapper was slightly dry and needed more flavoring. For dessert, we shared the tasty key lime pie which was bigger than we anticipated. I would recommend having an early dinner and then taking an after dinner stroll along the water. read more

My wife and some friends decided to get out of town for a day, so this place was recommended. There's access to the beach area through the restaurant and you can just relax and mellow out with a few drinks. That was the idea, to disconnect, get some sun and beach and then head back home. Warning though, since heading to the Keys is 1 lane in and 1 lane out, during a holiday season, be prepared to deal with traffic. A good amount. We looked at fellow Yelper reviews and went with the famous lobster quesadilla and a version of a grilled cheese with lobster. To begin with, this isn't your typical small pieces of lobster that are hidden in bread and condiments. No, these are chunks of lobster, you pay for what you get, it's over $15 but it's well worth it if your in the mood for lobster. Your in the beach, it's hot, so a cold drink and a lobster dish go well together. It definitely did for us. We didn't explore much of the menu as these, the quesadilla and grilled lobster mac and cheese were be fan favorites. So if I'm doubt as to what to get, this is a winner. read more
