One of the best spots for brunch, lunch, or dinner--Square truly has it all. The ambiance is excellent, the food never disappoints, and the service is consistently great whether you're seated at a table or at the bar. I do have my favorite people there, though! Emily is hands down the best bartender for brunch, and Chris is my go-to bartender for dinner--both in the main dining room. They always make the experience even better. The place is usually packed, which says a lot about its consistency in both food and service. Honestly, I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about this place. It's just that good.

Square Grouper in Islamorada is our family's favorite restaurant. We make the drive from Miami once a month for it. The fish is always fresh and delicious. If you're visiting me in Miami, I'm taking you here plus the staff is always amazing!

We were here in April and very much enjoyed the third floor. Next time we will try the first despite all the warning signs access after 6 was not an issue when we were there. Service was excellent! Everyone worked hard to make sure you had everything you needed. Old Fashions were very good. Stone crab claws are enormous and nicely done. Conche chowder was very tasty and pretzel was amazing.

It's a cool place to eat at since you're in the marina. Other than that, it's a tourist trap in my opinion. They are super busy so service was not great. Of the three things we ate, the only one I could recommend is the appetizer which was the flash fried conch, get extra wasabi and order it at the same time. We waited 10 mins for the server to bring us a side of it. I ordered the lobster tacos and 90% of it was filler with scraps of lobster. Don't waste your money. I did love the sweet potato fries. Been there, done that, wouldn't go back.

Delicious food, nice ambience and good service. Had the special lunch panko coated tripletail with rice and a salad with their honey mustard dressing which was light and very good. Tripletail is a white mild fish. Glad I went with that! I will be back.

We were told to try Square Grouper from a truly knowledgeable source, who also helped us understand what a square grouper is. Who knew? At any rate, we headed to the Sunset Lounge that opens @ 4:20.We had seats at the bar and were frankly blown away by James, the bartender, the service, the food, it was all amazing. We started with the smoked fish dip - so good - the only thing is I wish the crackers were a bit more substantial. The dip was perfect with dry vodka martinis. I had a wedge salad with lardons and fresh shrimp. Yummy! Wayne had tuna tartare - and there wasn't any of it left. We toasted it all down with a lovely rose' and ended a perfect evening with picking up some awesome merch. Sorry we didn't know about it sooner, but a great place for great food, good service and more.

Absolutely insane. Food is out of this world, we had Grouper in a variety of ways, Tilefish, Seafood Stew, Yellowtail egg rolls and coconut shrimp. The location is great with an awesome view from the second deck.

Amazing dinner- fresh fish, innovatively prepared; such a nice break from the traditional fried fare you find everywhere. I had scallops served over a bed of sweet potato and pork belly hash. OMG delicious. Five stars.

My favorite restaurant. Service is impeccable, bar is second to none food is outstanding and consistent every time. This is a destination in the Keys. Landed in Miami, drove 90 miles in traffic to Islamorada and went straight to the Square Grouper. Only way to start a trip. Food is amazing, drinks are expertly prepared and served. Dessert is splendid. The service is friendly and casual. Can't go wrong at this well run establishment. Place is always buzzing with energy and the Sunset Lounge upstairs is a great companion.

This was our third time here but first time for dinner and it did not disappoint. Every staff member we came in contact with was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We chose to sit inside but we could see the beautiful dock and ocean through the large windows. We began with the house salad and conch chowder, both good. The fresh fish dishes were absolutely delicious as you can see from the pictures. Definitely recommend this place. They don't take reservations so come early

    Do they take reservations?

Nope. First come first serve. Line out the door at least 30 minutes before they open for dinner.

Can we bring fresh caught fish and they will prepare it?

I don't think so ,, but if you go get the square grouper sandwich

The fried fisherman's platter was okay but lacked flavor on many items (just tasted like fried batter) and there wasn't many shrimp (maybe four); it was mostly small clam and calamari pieces. The fried fish was pretty good. For us, this restaurant was all about the views and outdoor Keys vibe, but the food while not bad, could've been better. I've seen many people say Lazy Days has really good food, so I'll give them a pass and assume we just didn't get their best when we stopped last week for lunch.

Food and drinks are strangely combined and confusingly seasoned. We tried the Spicy Margarita and…read moreLazy Smash for drinks. The Spicy Margarita says it's made with jalapeño tequila, but the flavor was like they added muddled jalapeño peppers. Not super spicy just *really* strong jalapeño flavor; it was gross. The Lazy Smash had so much Key lime juice that the whole drink was just bitter. We didn't finish either drink. For entrees, we had the Steak Teriyaki and the special Lobster Lorenzo. Teriyaki sauce had some kind of Indian spice added - curry powder? turmeric? - whatever it was it tasted like a teriyaki/marsala. It was odd. The Lobster Lorenzo is a split lobster tail that is breaded and fried, topped with a giant crab cake and sauce. The crab cake and sauce were amazing, the lobster was tough and chewy. I can't really comment on the server, since we had three different guys between the drink orders, the food order, food delivery, and the check. Scenery is nice and the restaurant itself is well decorated and inviting next to the water. But the food and drinks are definitely not worth the price. There are lots of other great choices in the Keys.
