Grilled oysters
Kathleen D.

Best meal I've ever had in the Keys. My husband and I travel all over the world and frequent Michelin starred restaurants. We were unsure how this meal would go based on reviews we came across. I'm not sure if the restaurant just had a few kinks to work out after they opened, but we had a 10/10 experience. The highlights for us were the Kill Dill cocktail, the grilled oysters, the tomato salad, and the key lime tart. We will be back!

I would give it five stars, but I'll explain why I did it later. I'll start off by saying that the place is beautiful. It's very warm and inviting a nice for a date or a large group. The food was absolutely delicious. I was very worried with all the reviews that I was reading, but I'm very glad I ended up going. The staff was very attentive and our way to Cassandra was on point. We started off with oysters. When I first ordered, I was skeptical because they're from Florida and well they don't have the best reputation but these Florida honey oysters were absolutely delicious. The minouette used Was spectacular! We then had the Caesar salad, which was one of the tasty Caesar salads I've had. Speaking of tasty. I don't know what they do to their old-fashioned but my God it was delicious. For entrées, we had the beef cheek pasta, which was so flavorful and comforting. I then went with the snapper, which was a very healthy portion And delicious as well. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The reason I'm only giving it four stars is because my husband's entrée arrived before mine and it did not seem odd to the waiter that delivered it. That was a little bit disappointing but overall, it was a great experience. Glad I went and I would definitely go again to try the steak. Their pizzas also look amazing Considering they have this humongous wood-burning oven. Definitely worth a visit!

Sautéed tilefish with bok Choy, cauliflower and lemongrass coconut curry

Incredible! This newly renovated space is well done with ambiance and style. The food was insanely delicious and full of fresh herbaceous flavors. I started with the ford's farm organic tomatoes and wow. Perfect mix of dill, mint, stracciatella, pear and tomato. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe with full flavor of a garden tomato. Next was the hamachi crudo. Another favorite, with perfect saltiness, insane herbs complimenting the cucumbers and green beans. I did all but lick the plate on this one. Finished up with a sautéed tilefish with bok choy, cauliflower and lemongrass coconut curry. The portion was GENEROUS! There was a crisp on top which I love in a fish dish to balance out the softness of a white fish. I am not ashamed to say I sopped up the curry with every last ounce of food. It was perfectly done. All paired nicely with a glass of Pinot noir. The best part. $99 bill. The servers were friendly and professional. Highly recommended. I will be back!

Was very excited to find out this new restaurant had opened at Hawks Cay resort! We came here one of our nights for dinner and found it to be so pretty! The high ceiling and light made the place very beautiful. We made reservations and our table was changed from a high top to a regular table to help better fit our children (needed a high chair). Our waiter was extremely helpful and explained every dish to the tee. Our drinks were delicious! We really liked how the mixture that topped the drink was slightly warm. Our appetizers and meal for our toddler came first like requested. We loved the potatoes and crudo was great but a little on the salty side. I loved my entree, the agnolotti was delicious. My husband enjoyed his fish as well but absolutely loved the puree (my son devoured it). The cauliflower was great too but also on the salty side. Overall, great meal, maybe just cut back on the salt for those two dishes.

Amazing amazing fresh food and ambiance. Service was great. Very cool drinks. Everything is from a local farm so it's fern to table. 10/10 reccomend!

The Crispry Polenta Bites

We had an incredible meal and experience at Salt & Ash. The food and the service were phenomenal. We started with the Spitfire Cocktail which was artfully curated with Ford Farm'a hibiscus paired with Bulleit Bouron. I ordered it first and it was so good that my sister had order envy and decided she needed one as well. Three of us shared the Coconut Tuna ceviche and raw oysters. Our server informed us that the tuna was speared the day prior by their in house spearfisherman. Can't get any fresher than that! The oysters were cold water PEI Oysters. They were so delectable, we ordered a dozen more. We also had the Cacione Pepe Cheese Puffs which were soft and full of flavor. For entrees we ordered the Butternut Squash Agnollotti with a brown butter crispy Sage. They were pillowy, smooth and outrageously delicious. We also ordered the 14 oz. 35 Day aged Bone in Strip Steak. It was cooked to perfection. It was so perfectly aged and prepared that it was able to be cut with a butter knife and needed no sauces. We ordered the Charred Mushrooms with a Kung Pao glaze. The umami flavor was tangy amd the mushroom variety paired perfectly with the steak. The Crispy Polenta Bites with Sour Cherry Miso sauce was a non-negotiable. They were crispy on the outside and soft/creamy on the inside. The cherry miso sauce was sweet, tart and just the right amount of sweet to match the savory of the bites. Finally, we ordered the chocolate lava cake. Laava cakes often come out cooler than I'd like but this was a mini dutch oven filled with hot, chocolatey, gooey goodness. Our server Rebecca was phenomenal. She was attentive, fun, and was super knowledgeable about not only the menu but the resturant's beginnings and Michelin Star Chef Jeremy Ford's impressive resume. It was evident that Rebecca was passionate about her work and helping guests have the best experience. The ambiance was perfect for a evening of good food and drink. Salt & Ash is a MUST try if you are in the Florida Keys. You will have a divine experience.

Cacio e pepe parmesan puffs

Amazing food! Everything we had was delicious. Cacio e Pepe puffs, truffle jalepeno balls, key west pink shrimp - and delicious drinks! Usually resort hotels don't have the best restaurants so I wasn't expecting much, but would come back to this restaurant even if I wasn't staying here. Truly delicious. And the service was great, our waitress was so sweet.

Burdines Waterfront Marina and Bar & Grill - Deep fried key lime pie !!

Where we were staying, we met these lovely ladies out at the pool, and we got to talking quite a bit. They had mentioned this place and a deep fried key lime... so... it definitely piqued our interest and off we went. When we first arrived, I wasn't sure if we were going to the right place. It felt like it was off the beaten path, but we did eventually find our way to the parking lot. We walked upstairs to the terrace and took a look around at the view. It was just before sunset, and we watched a boat or two swing by and tie up on the dock below for some chow. That's pretty cool. The menu style is somewhat American traditional, where you would find a variety of burgers, fries, sandwiches, and some dinner plates. They served several types of meats from beef, chicken, fish, shrimp, you name it. We decided to go pub style and ordered the Fresh Cut Fries plate, with a Chicken Burger. We also ordered a Patty Melt Sandwich. The chicken burger had the perfect crunch, and it just hit right. The patty melt smothered in onion and sauce made it very tender and juicy. My wife and I split each other's meals to taste it all. As we enjoyed a couple of drinks, we were able to take advantage of the sunset and walked the dock for some pictures, although, I was staring at a beautiful view across from me all evening. We finished off the meal with one of their famous Deep fried Key Lime Pie... and I swear... that might have been the 2nd or 3rd most beautiful thing I've seen that evening. If you never had a KLP deep fried... oh my Goodness you are in for a treat!! We decided to split one, and it's every bit as good as you would think it to be!! Thank you for that experience, and for the whole evening. We are leaving FL with amazing memories! Absolutely recommend you try this place and for us, an easy return should we ever find ourselves back on the Keys again. As always, Enjoy & Happy Eating!

It's legitimately one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in the Florida Keys, which gives it a lot of built-in credibility before you even sit down. Walking up to it, you feel that history. The exterior, the gravel lot, the signage--it's pure roadside Keys. Inside, it leans into that "local bar meets tourist stop" vibe: long wooden bar, TVs, stickers everywhere, taps lined up. Then you open the menu and it pivots in every direction--New England chowder house, BBQ joint, burger shack, seafood spot. It's not clear what it wants to be, and that lack of focus carries straight through to the food. We started with both chowders. The clam chowder looks right at first glance, but the texture tells you everything--thick, almost gluey, clearly roux-heavy. The flavor leans aggressively fatty, closer to margarine than butter, with very little clam presence. No briny backbone, no pepper, no lift. We ended up dumping in black pepper and hot sauce just to make it remotely acceptable--but even then, that heavy fat note kept pushing through. Nothing about it reads as New England. The conch chowder fares a bit better. You can actually see a decent amount of conch, and there's a peppery edge that helps. But the broth is thin and lacks the chunky, stewed tomato depth you expect from a proper Keys-style conch chowder. After having it done right earlier at Key Largo Fisheries, the difference was obvious. Then there are the Texas Twinkies--and the photo really says it all. On paper, this should work: jalapeños wrapped in bacon, stuffed with brisket, pulled pork, cheeses, and sauce. In execution, it's just too much. Too much cream cheese, too many competing sauces, meats chopped into a soft, indistinct filling. It collapses into a heavy, muddy bite that feels more overwhelming than satisfying. Looking back at the menu, the simpler move--burger, ribs, even wings--probably would have been the right call. Instead, we ordered straight into the identity crisis. And that theory held up. We went back and grabbed a burger later--cooked a proper medium rare, with well-done, crispy fries--and it was easily the best thing we had from them. I wanted to like Herbie's. There's history, personality, and clearly a loyal following. But between the confused concept and uneven execution, the move here is simple: stick to the basics.

Our server Zach was on the mark; checked on us frequently and took care of any requests quickly, and a very friendly dude. We tried: Sparky's Sunset and Coconut Margarita - both very good. Tuna tartare - the sesame sauce wasn't my favorite, but the tuna was fresh and tender. Coconut Shrimp - HUGE shrimp, nice toasty coconut crust, and the sweet chili sauce was a great compliment. 1/2 lb Peel and Eat Shrimp - these were served with butter, cocktail sauce, lemon, and a little cup of add-it-if-you-want cajun seasoning. I tried them all and loved the options. Bacon-wrapped Scallops - these were fantastic!! Super crunchy bacon on the outside, perfectly cooked scallops on the inside. Buffalo Chicken Wings - these had really good flavor, but the skins were a bit tough. Sparky's will be our very first stop on our next stay in the Keys.

The fish tacos had great flavor as did the chicken and waffles. The blackened grouper sandwich was a little bland and the crab cake Benedict could have done without the Canadian bacon.
