This a review for breakfast. Parking was easy and its a short walk to the restaurant. We got seated quickly at an out door table. The view was great. They are quick to refill your water but not so quick the coffee. The food was generally very good. A few minor items that we didn't feel needed correction. My son had an undercooked poached egg and the avocado toast was more arugula than avocado, otherwise no complaints. We were a party of five and there was a 20% service charge on the bill but the usual tip percentages recommended. This wasn't explained, or noted and honestly, I couldn't be bothered to ask. Just a bit annoying. Despite these minor annoyances, the location, view, and general decent quality of the food made for a nice breakfast.

If you're in Marathon, this spot is an absolute must-visit. There's simply no better place to watch the sunset--the views are breathtaking, the atmosphere is incredible, and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. That said, the food isn't the main attraction. It's decent, but nothing that would bring me back on its own. We all finished our meals, so it's not that anything was bad--I was just expecting more. I'd definitely return with someone who hasn't been before because the setting is that stunning, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit solo. Come for the views and ambiance--you won't be disappointed. Side note: it is a little annoying watching the sunset and people gathering near your table but what are you going to do about it??

I love this place but I definitely got food poisoning last night from my shrimp Alfredo dish. Such a beautiful location. Let's see if I am contacted by the restaurant.

WE are staying at Isla Bella so we did dinner one night for our anniversary and then breakfast the next day. Both times we sat on the covered patio to take in the water views. The service was great for dinner slightly slow for breakfast but I chuck it up to them being busier and rolling into the weekend. The food was delicious and when we come back we would eat here again.

The restaurant was just okay overall. The food could have been much better. I ordered the lobster bisque, which was extremely salty. The crab dip was mostly cream cheese with very little crab, and the appetizer took about 30 minutes to arrive. The main entrées were very disappointing. I paid $75 for a lobster tail that was very small and came with two shrimps, literally two. To make matters worse, my lobster had a hair in it. When I asked about the portion size, they claimed the lobster was 7 oz, which honestly didn't seem accurate. They ended up bringing out a different fish for me, but it tasted like catfish. My entrée was also incorrect--I asked for jasmine rice and was served mashed potatoes instead. My husband's ribeye wasn't good either and looked very chewy. Service was inconsistent. The server would check in and then disappear for about 20 minutes at a time. Dessert (key lime pie) was okay, but I've definitely had better.

There were multiple areas where Mahina fell flat. We originally called to update our reservation from four to five and were told that wouldn't be possible due to four-seating tables. Upon arrival we notified the restaurant of our party size increase and were seated, without issue, at a SIX-seater. Beyond that mild annoyance, the main thing we noticed was that restaurant emitted a strange odor, similar to a public restroom. The service was okay. But the food was mediocre, at best. One person in our party sent their food back because it was not prepared as requested. When the food returned, it was still prepared incorrectly. I ordered the jumbo coconut guava shrimp (app) and coconut rice (side), which came up to about $28 which was overpriced for the quality. The shrimp was under cooked and partially mushy in areas. I also ordered the butterscotch and dark chocolate lava cake which didn't flow at all. The lump crab cake was also mildly disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Service was nice. We came in late for breakfast but they accommodated us. The staff was helpful in recommending a good beach spot near by.

We were staying here for the week and decided to give the restaurant on the property a try since it was too stormy to venture out. We started with a salad that was delicious. Then had the seared tuna and fried snapper both of which were fantastic and gave us the taste of fish we were looking for to start our trip. The staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was a bit empty but it was a rainy Tuesday. Would definitely try if you're staying at isla Bella!

Overall the ambiance is wonderful! The patio seating is great would request beach if given option. Sunset is excellent. Service is just eh... they really tried but missed the mark on a few things. The food was also just eh ... mostly for the price you pay one expects a delicious blend of flavor not just meat and potato. The bread service they tried to be hip with beet and potato breads but just fell flat. I think the flavors just need amped up!

We vacationed to Isle Belle in December for 4 nights and two of the nights we ate dinner at the Mahina because it was amazing! Besides the obvious beautiful views, the staff and food were 10/10. First, the hostess was so sweet! The first time we ate at Mahina, we requested outdoor seating and she sat us at the far right corner table facing the bridge (best table in the entire restaurant in my opinion). The second time we ate there, I asked for the same table as she was about to seat us elsewhere and she accommodated immediately. She also took photos of us by the water and told us about the blankets that they offer if we get cold!! Second, the food was sooo good. From the apps, dinner, and dessert everything was delicious! Third, I don't remember the waitresses names but both nights, we had good service... Some reviews say their service/food wasn't good which is so surprising! But note we visited this restaurant in December and I could count the guests on my fingers (the restaurant/hotel wasn't busy at all). Fourth, the views!!!!! Breathtaking. Can't wait to come back here one day :)

    Dining area.

We ate there on our last night and were terribly disappointed. The only positives were the view and the pleasant server. We had the jumbo shrimp and pineapple appetizer which was good, but not great. I had the shrimp Alfredo and my husband had the rib eye. Neither had any flavor and everything was extremely over priced. Do yourself a favor and venture out of the resort. Florida Steak and lobster house was delicious.

That was complimented by our bartender, Billy, knocking out some perfect killer classics, like a real Mai Tai, and Navy Grog, that, post the 1950s became kind of sugar filled, over-the-top mockeries of the Tiki cocktail arts. No mockery here. Just the old school magic. We didn't have an issue finding seats at at least one of the pools and they were salt water which was great! The adult pool was difficult to get a seat at times. - the beach area is nice but too shallow for adult swimming, would be great for kids. Resort is super kid friendly, which may be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. They had tons of activities for kids each day. - overall for being resort food the food wasn't bad and the servers were all friendly, although service was pretty slow. - gorgeous location and overall resort. - rooms were spacious and loved the lanai. It was really nice to have two bathrooms. - didn't feel super crowded. - we had a car but didn't feel the need to leave much, so you could probably be fine here without a car at all. The bad (normally I wouldn't have this many but at almost $1000 a night cash rate I'm more picky) - No food service at any pools but the big one so you have to walk over to the beach bar if you want drinks at any of the smaller pools. - Housekeeping never came during our stay, we were out and about until 3pm or so each day and they never came by during the 8 hours we were gone so we ended up just putting up the dnd sign when we got home as we were reading to shower etc at that point. - The fees - almost $90 a day in parking and resort fees. It seems at this price point you could include parking. The only value I saw from the resort fee was water bottles which is kinda bare minimum to provide in my opinion. When asking about the resort fee we were told it covers the pools and towels and waters. At the rate you pay per night, seems excessive. - We had a late night flight and asked if we could use showers to change after we checked out. We've done this at many other resorts before no issue. We were informed it would be $31 each to be able to use the spa showers. Every other resort I've been to either has a shower at the gym/pool bathrooms you can use for free (including both other resorts we stayed on our keys trip) or lets you use the spa changing room if you arrange it for free. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the resort. We paid on points but if I was paying what is listed as the cash rate, the bad would have been much more at the forefront for me.

At Isla Bella no smoking anywhere on the property entails a half mile walk off the property, hello I am in Florida, not California. The last time I checked, smoking cigarettes is still legal in Florida. There should be a smoking area somewhere away from non-smokers! I have stayed at Glunz Resort on Key Colony the last three years, but I thought I would try something new this year. I am NEVER coming back to Isla Bella in Marathon "California". Anyone looking to book in Marathon should consider Glunz Beach Resort. It is more friendly, it has less restrictive rules, better view and hot tubs; and it has a fun bar next door (Havana Jacks). It also has better amenities in the room, and it is less expensive. On a positive note, the food at their restaurant is probably among the top five restaurants in Marathon and the staff is very friendly. I can confidently say I would never stay here again after our visit. We arrived about 30 minutes before checkin time (around 3:30pm) and were told our room was not ready yet. No problem. Our baby was due for a nap so I took him around the beautiful property to sightsee. At 4:05pm they called me to tell me our room was ready. We went upstairs and I was about to put him down for a nap, but I realized we were in a double queen when we had booked a resort king. Also, there was no pack 'n play set up as I had requested in our reservation. With a now crying baby in my arms, I called the front desk and let them know they had put us in the wrong room. The woman told me to come down to the lobby and she would meet me there to bring us to the last remaining king. Why weren't we put there in the first place? We went down to the lobby and waited about 20 minutes before asking to speak to a supervisor. The woman told me the original person coming to meet me was on her way. I expressed my concerns to her while she took me to the new room and she apologized politely, but after arriving in our new room (again with no pack 'n play set up), the entire checkin process took an hour and a half. My now overly tired and incredibly cranky baby was crying as I tried to get him down for a nap in our new room. We were interrupted by the woman coming back with our keys, then 10 minutes later a man knocked on our door with a folded up pack 'n play and asked, "You know how to set this up, right?" Now on the verge of tears, I asked him to please set it up for me. He cranked it open and told me there were "linens to put in the bottom for the baby." When I inspected it, it looked broken and rickety on the bottom with no padding. Linens are a serious SIDS risk for babies, so I'm not sure why such a nice resort couldn't provide us with a safe, non-broken crib. We did not end up using it. That evening when we were getting ready for dinner, there was an ironing board with no iron in the room. We called and they brought one relatively promptly. The air conditioning must have had an issue because it could not have possibly been any louder. On top of everything that had made our evening so stressful, the alarm in our room went off at 5:45am, waking the baby and myself up an hour earlier than normal. This threw off our entire next day as well. The resort does not provide "do not disturb" tags inside your room, so during his first nap of the day housekeepiAng knocked loudly and barged into our room! I tried to speak to a supervisor and all I got was an insincere, unconvincing apology. What was supposed to be a relaxing stay at one of the most highly-regarded resorts in the Keys was the most stressful (actually, the only stressful) experience I have ever had in the Keys. To have spent over $400 on a room and had such a disappointing stay was unacceptable. Do not recommend.
