From indoor breakfast to outdoor lunch, everything we have for the most part what's good specially the drinks. Obviously the bar outside had a beautiful view and you can order to eat by the pool or have table service. The lavender pineapple drink was delicious and I had a few of those. I did enjoy the conch fritters. Kids enjoyed the pizza and tenders, burger was also pretty good. Just don't order the mariquitas (plantain chips) those were gross.

Blue Waters Grill is located inside the Courtyard by Marriott hotel . While the food quality is average , the poolside and ocean views coupled with the nightly live music make this the perfect spot to spend the day soaking up the sun or taking in the sunset. The menu features pizza, tacos, salads & more. We ate here for both lunch and dinner in the same day and the food was good , not great. The service was also pretty good - there was only one bartender who was on her own "island time" and she barely acknowledged us and did not do a good job making our specialty cocktails. However , we gravitated towards the other bartenders (one named Eric and a female with pretty red hair) and they really did a great job and we appreciated their customer service. Pro tip: although no signs are present , there is an adjoining beach front with hammocks and a fire pit! We stumbled upon this and really enjoyed lounging in the hammocks at night and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit (you can purchase s'mores kits at the front desk gift shop). It's at the end of the pool to your right if you are facing the ocean . Also , make sure to stop by in the evening because they do a cute little ceremony where they celebrate the transition of daytime to evening . You get a chance to write down something stressful and throw it in a fire pit that they release to the ocean ! (It's on a chain , no hazard to wildlife or ecosystem). The bar also offers a free cocktail during this time as well . PS: if you see an iguana , don't feed it ! You will be endangering its life by doing so and there are signs posted prohibiting it. Just let the iguana enjoy the great views too !

We stayed at the attached hotel for a week. So we would head down to the pool to relax, order food and have some drinks after a hard day of vacationing. The food is fine, nothing too exciting but they can make some killer drinks. "San Diego" Kevin knows how to pour a mean drink and "Jerry" aka Chad (real name) was very attentive and always in a good mood. They have nightly special drinks for the hotel guests, which is great because to can just stumble back to your room (true story). The sunsets are some of the best I've ever experienced. And the nightly lighting of the large tiki torches is fun too.

Blue Waters is the bar and grill at the Marriott Hotel in Marathon. We got drinks here each night of our stay on a recent trip. The hotel charges a $25 dollar resort fee, but this is really a credit that can be applied to various food/drink options, including the offerings at Blue Waters. My husband and I tried the Mai Tai, Rum Runner, and Passion Fruit Margarita. The drinks were very large and represented a great blend of flavors. The Marriott has a very nice pool area, including an infinity pool that overlooks the ocean, where you can enjoy your drink. If you're looking for sunset cocktails, this is a great spot!

Amazing food and even better service! The entire staff was so friendly! If you are staying at the Courtyard make sure to swing by for the free cocktail and enjoy watching the sunset!

We got seated inside just as the sun was starting to set. Sadly all the guests that had finished eating right before us decided to walk over to the dock outside the restaurant which just so happened to be the exact viewing location for the sunset so we didn't get any really good photos of it bc there were so many people over there videoing it and taking photos. It was still nice scenery while we waited for our food though. I ordered ceviche to start us off as our appetizer and it was really good. My dinner was a pasta dish with shrimp and scallops. The sauce was supposed to be a white cream sauce but it was really runny. Even adding extra Parmesan cheese to it didn't help thicken it. It tasted ok. Not my best pick. I had a choice of soup or salad with it. I chose their she crab soup and I'm glad I did. It was great. Almost reminded me of homemade chicken and dumplings soup just with crab. I really liked it. I should have stopped with that and the ceviche. My husband got a grouper fish sandwich. He thought it was good but the prices were a bit high for what it was. His fish sandwich was $29. Although good, not worth $29. My pasta definitely not worth the $31. May be a bit of a tourist trap but the food was decent.

I ordered the calamari and ordered it plain without all the extras. It was so greasy and chewy. There was oil all over the plate. I sent it back. Mahi sandwich was good, but you get such a small amount of fish. It was very thin, and then I had to wait an extra five minutes after the food got there to get my side.

During a recent day trip to the Florida Keys, I was determined to find a restaurant with beautiful…read moreocean views, and I'm so glad I discovered Lazy Days South! The only challenge was parking. The spaces were pretty tight, and several cars were parked over the lines, making it a little difficult to find a spot. Luckily, just as we arrived, someone was leaving, so it felt like it was meant to be. We walked in without a reservation and were seated almost immediately. The host gave us a warm welcome, and we were lucky enough to get a table outside with a stunning oceanfront view. The scenery alone made the visit worthwhile. Before arriving, I had looked over the menu and was happy to see they offered vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. I ordered the pasta with mushrooms, which was prepared with olive oil instead of a cream-based sauce. It was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. My niece ordered the Chicken Key West, which is similar to chicken Parmesan, and my sister had the house salad. Since pasta comes with a choice of soup or salad, I opted for the salad as well. One of the most memorable parts of the experience happened shortly after we sat down. The staff tossed leftover fish scraps into the water, attracting several large fish right below the restaurant. Watching them feed was such a unique and entertaining experience that added to the charm of dining by the water. Another little touch that I loved was when I went to the restroom. They had a locally made salt sugar scrub available for purchase, and it smelled so good that we ended up buying one to take home. I always appreciate when restaurants support local businesses. They also had complimentary key lime mints, which were absolutely delicious and such a fun Florida Keys touch. Our waiter was fantastic throughout the entire meal. He was attentive, friendly, and efficient. He kept our water glasses full, brought out bread promptly, checked on us regularly, and had the check ready as soon as we were finished. The food also arrived at a great pace. Unfortunately, I couldn't try any of their cocktails since I had to drive back to Miami afterward, but they looked delicious. Hopefully, on my next trip to the Keys, I'll be able to stay longer and enjoy one of their drinks. Overall, Lazy Days South has that classic old-Florida, laid-back atmosphere that feels welcoming and timeless. Between the beautiful ocean views, good food, unique waterfront experience, thoughtful local touches, and excellent service, it's definitely a place I'll be returning to on my next visit to the Keys.

However, the restaurant itself didn't seem particularly busy, with plenty of open tables throughout our visit. We waited nearly 20 minutes before our drink and food order was taken, and it took a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes from the time we were seated until our food arrived. The food itself was mediocre and bland, especially after such a long wait. Inside, several tables remained unbussed, so we chose to sit outside. Unfortunately, the fan and light above our table weren't working, making the outdoor seating extremely hot and uncomfortable, even at 8 PM. I understand that busy nights happen, but the combination of the long wait, average food, maintenance issues, and overall lack of attention to the dining experience made this a disappointing visit.

It's legitimately one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in the Florida Keys, which gives it a lot of built-in credibility before you even sit down. Walking up to it, you feel that history. The exterior, the gravel lot, the signage--it's pure roadside Keys. Inside, it leans into that "local bar meets tourist stop" vibe: long wooden bar, TVs, stickers everywhere, taps lined up. Then you open the menu and it pivots in every direction--New England chowder house, BBQ joint, burger shack, seafood spot. It's not clear what it wants to be, and that lack of focus carries straight through to the food. We started with both chowders. The clam chowder looks right at first glance, but the texture tells you everything--thick, almost gluey, clearly roux-heavy. The flavor leans aggressively fatty, closer to margarine than butter, with very little clam presence. No briny backbone, no pepper, no lift. We ended up dumping in black pepper and hot sauce just to make it remotely acceptable--but even then, that heavy fat note kept pushing through. Nothing about it reads as New England. The conch chowder fares a bit better. You can actually see a decent amount of conch, and there's a peppery edge that helps. But the broth is thin and lacks the chunky, stewed tomato depth you expect from a proper Keys-style conch chowder. After having it done right earlier at Key Largo Fisheries, the difference was obvious. Then there are the Texas Twinkies--and the photo really says it all. On paper, this should work: jalapeños wrapped in bacon, stuffed with brisket, pulled pork, cheeses, and sauce. In execution, it's just too much. Too much cream cheese, too many competing sauces, meats chopped into a soft, indistinct filling. It collapses into a heavy, muddy bite that feels more overwhelming than satisfying. Looking back at the menu, the simpler move--burger, ribs, even wings--probably would have been the right call. Instead, we ordered straight into the identity crisis. And that theory held up. We went back and grabbed a burger later--cooked a proper medium rare, with well-done, crispy fries--and it was easily the best thing we had from them. I wanted to like Herbie's. There's history, personality, and clearly a loyal following. But between the confused concept and uneven execution, the move here is simple: stick to the basics.
