The staff was full of smiles and helpful. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, and surprisingly comfortable for outside dining. Fresh juicy lobster roll on a hot day. I usually take my lob rolls hot with butter and am picky about the cold ones, but this was one of the best I've had. Quick and friendly service in a charming location. The outdoor seating looked great, but indoors was cute and I was just thankful for good AC. Late night (8:30ish) on a Saturday night and the place was busy. The band was belting out great music with live brass. We sat inside to beat the humidity (and stay low key as we'd not had a chance to get to do too much freshening up after a delightful day at Bahia Honda State Park). Funky hand made, beautiful fish art on walls and Key West'ish touches of hand painting on the chairs and everywhere. Cute but not overdone. We had great meals! My husband had a delicious pepperoni, onion, mushroom and cheese pizza. Nice thin, crispy crust and gooey cheese on top. I had one of their recently-added Grouper Cheek Alfredo, which the hostess recommended. Normally the grouper comes fried, but our server (a delightful woman) said she'd ask if the Chef was willing to do them grilled for me. I also asked for no additional salt. Chef was agreeable. Went to visit the kid who was working at the Boy Scout Base for the summer nearby. This was his suggestion. It was a great little restaurant. With so many fish places in the Key's I can't imagine a place that does fish badly will survive. I got a grouper sandwhich. The Sandwich was a good. The fish was firm and flaky in all the right ways a white fish should be. Great little place, only problem is that with the keys being so hot and humid, in the main dining room, it was a bit warmer and more humid than one would like in a restaurant. I have lived in the Keys for over a year now. I just recently stopped into mangrove mama's for a meal. The hostess greeted me warmly and gave me a little tour since I had never eaten there before which was really nice. The food was great and the staff was wonderful. If you want a place to meet with your friends and talk, don't come here. The music was so loud you couldn't hear yourself talk. I ordered the triple tail fish platter and got two pieces of fish and fries that had no taste and had to pay extra for a few spoons of coleslaw. The french fries that came on the plate were tasteless. Other food at the table didn't look much better. I asked if I could buy another piece of fish and the girl came back and said I needed to order a whole nother dinner for another 20 bucks. Had an impromptu family gathering yesterday afternoon here. We sampled many appetizers and meals over the course of several hours. Personally I recommend the French onion soup. So we actually stayed at the KOA right up the street from this little treasure. First of all, there's plenty of great parking. Second of all a lot of the restaurants that we go into whenever we are on one of our road trips seem staged, and you don't get the vibe always of where you actually are. This place has a fantastic vibe, the staff is super fun and super friendly. They got our orders all correct and we're all pretty picky eaters, also kept checking back in to make sure my husband got plenty of hydration(wink wink) but the food on top of all the other things that I just mentioned was my favorite meal of our 14 day trip. We drove down from North Georgia and back but mangrove mamas was our favorite stop. Delightful spot with excellent service. We enjoyed the Wahoo. Mine was lightly blacken and my partner's was panko-crusted. Both plates were prepared quickly and piping hot!! The fish, zucchini and mashed potatoes were fllavorful. However, I did not care for their Key lime pie. The crust tasted like it had a spice in it that detracted from the experience. Decided to stop for a quick lunch here after seeing good reviews. It's a hidden gem in the area. Although it's unassuming from the outside, it's well worth it! We had an amazing server named Dawn who gave us great recommendations. The best cocktail was definitely their Mango Margarita, which has the perfect kick with a little jalapeño. Unfortunately, they were out of the Mac & Cheese Bites so we started with Dawn's recommendation and ordered the potato skins. They are fried so they're crunchy and very good! For my meal, I ordered the Shrimp St. Jacques which was insane it was so good. Apparently it's a favorite and I can see why! It's so creamy and full of flavor! They serve it with an incredible garlic bread. You can smell the garlic when it gets to your table. Can't wait to go back. I'll definitely save room to try the key lime pie! read more

I truly dislike posting this review. I stop by Mamas on a regular basis while going into work. The reason I am so disappointed is I was the only customer in the entire restaurant. Yet I was served burnt and nasty fries along with my hamburger that was supposed to be Medium. It was medium but very rare inside. I asked my server if there was a new or different cook working. She said No and took my money. To be very honest I am so tired of going to restaurants and being inconsistent to the point of disappointment and frustration. A $30.00 hamburger and a side of coleslaw should not be that hard to full fill. It's not just the cook that didn't do their job but the server should have noticed the disgusting looking fries. read more

I'm a fan. This place has a very long history and fresh seafood. I'd recommend reading about the history as it dates back to the Flagler overseas railroad which was the first way to get to Key West besides by boat. It's not exotic or crazy creative but the grilled grouper meal is good and lasts me or a couple meals due to the portion size and my cancer surgeries altered tiny stomach. We were looking for a place for a quick dinner on our way back from a day in Key West. This came up on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. The menu has many items that are just not our usual food faire but luckily the specials and fresh catch dishes gave us some options. We decided to order the seafood extraordinaire which was a pasta dish. Usually we do not order pasta but the types of seafood had us hooked. There was good portions of lobster, shrimp and scallops on it. We did not care for the fish that was used on it (kind of dark and not moist) but my husband was good with the mussels. The best part was usually pasta dishes are heavy with cheese or a heavy pasta sauce but this one has a light, flavorful sauce which we loved. Overall we were happy with our shared entree (and it was a very large portion so great for splitting). We did not get any drinks but the choices looked tempting. Our server (who it sounds like is sadly moving across country) was just the right amount of attentiveness. Today I saw all the cars and decided to try again it was under new ownership !! My son n law got the pork sliders and fry's. Two things the slider were unreal and 2nd thing was fry's were hot and very good. Not typical stuff with all the batter !!! Real HOT Fries ! So I order Pepperoni pizza red sauce with mushroom!!! Yeah baby came out hot and excellent!!! My baby girl got Margarita pizza and I didn't try it but she was gobbling down !! Service was excellent and they had little band starting up as we paid bill !
