Conch Republic Seafood Company was our first meal in Key West after landing, checking into our hotel, and realizing we were starving. The place was absolutely packed. We were quoted a wait, so we grabbed a couple seats at the bar instead, which ended up being the right move. I'll admit, at first glance I thought this might be one of those touristy waterfront spots that survives mostly because of its location. I was wrong. The bartender pointed us toward a couple of dishes that he said were favorites, and he absolutely nailed it. I had the local catch of the day with vegetables and a chimichurri sauce that was incredible. My husband ordered a pasta dish that the bartender said was a staff favorite, and he loved it. The food was excellent, but the bartender really elevated the experience. He was funny, easy to talk to, and knew the menu well enough to steer us in the right direction. The waterfront location doesn't hurt either. We arrived tired, hungry, and not expecting much. We left talking about how good the meal was. The fish was, in fact, off the hook. read more

Ate at Conch Republic while on vacation in Key West. This place was recommended to us and was some what disappointing. We arrived in the middle of their happy hour, so naturally the place was packed FYI-There are only certain tables available near the bar & of course the bar itself that you're able to sit for their HH opportunity. We were a party of four and a very nice group offered us their spot as they were leaving. We had to grab it quickly as a few other people were also trying to swoop in! So, we had to clean the table (didn't mind) and set aside their drinks and bill. Then, we waited, waited and waited until FINALLY our server arrived. She did express her gratitude for us having cleared the space. We ordered our drinks and the crab cakes as an appetizer. That didn't take to long. The crab cakes were average. Nothing like my grandmother made being from the east coast! I wasn't impressed with them at all. I had the conch soup, which is suppose to be like a manhattan clam chowder. Luke warm at best. Extremely bland and for $13?! It was not worth the price or portion. Another family member tried the bacon wrapped shrimp and seemed to really enjoy it. Another member in our group had the burger and it was just average. The oysters were delicious, but not hard to mess that up! Over priced for a below average dining experience. We have been coming here for two decades - we even had our rehearsal dinner here. Figured time for a review. This is a Key West staple. It is always fresh and delicious. Our favorites are the coconut shrimp and stuffed shrimp. All of the bartenders are great, but our all time favorite is Doug. He is always friendly and welcoming. This is a fun and casual place to enjoy great seafood. My husband and I were sitting by the bar. The bartender is super friendly and efficient. He got our drinks right away. Mojito is ok, not too much alcohol, it has more of the syrup. Oysters and shrimps are fresh. The shrimps are quite big and well seasoned. Conch fritters are not greasy and comes with good dipping sauce. Tropical salad comes with good amount of chopped mangoes. I also enjoyed my crab cakes. read more

We enjoyed a Rum Runner cocktail and cracked conch appetizer while visiting this establishment. The conch was some of the best I've ever had in over 40 years because it was similar to clam strips, substantial, and had a light feathery batter and tender texture. Fabulous dish. The cocktail was fruity and delicious. Deceptively innocuous. Bar waitstaff were all on top of the service. Noise level was moderate since the place was very busy. The ability to have waterfront views while sitting on a bar stool under covered spaces was A+. Gift shop is attached with plenty of cute souvenir options. Restrooms are clean and well maintained. Cool location. Lots of outdoor seating with views of the water. Service was OK at first but after we said we were there for a drink and one appetizer it became distant and curt. Back again for the seafood and today they had swordfish their fresh catch. Though good, the mahi mahi was the star of the show. I had to drop my review down due to our inattentive server. I had to ask twice for water, she left us hanging after we asked for the check, and my order was not right (please see swordfish pics) in comparison to the mahi mahi burger. Both myself and my hubby ordered blackened dishes (mahi mahi, shrimp and swordfish) but mine looked grilled not blackened and when I questioned the server she told me it was blackened (false!) my husband I both agreed it was not made as requested. Amazing key lime pina colada! I love a pina colada and this once was next level. Pricey, but so good. Tried the conch fritters as well - I think I may be allergic though I'm not allergic to other shellfish... left feeling itchy and hives, but wa gone in an hour. Most importantly the food here is delicious, my wife tried the St Kitts pasta and it was very tasty and plentiful. It is enough for two, especially if you have appetizers like we did. We had the baked oysters and they were delicious except the cheese on top wasn't melted. We also had the stone crab claws since they were in season. My wife also had a skinny margarita which she said was watered down and she also tried the rum punch which was much better. For dinner I had the fried Red Snapper and it was also delicious and it also was plentiful. We both took our meals home and it was enough for breakfast the next morning. So our server Heather was really nice, she greeted us with a warm smile and she was very patient and helpful. So lastly that brings me to the rest of the staff and their customer service. I'm disabled and on a scooter and when I asked how to gain access to the building two employees said they didn't know, finally one server pointed me to the ramp. When inside I asked where was the host stand and another two employees just pointed which made me feel like I was bothering them. And the food runner basically threw our food at us. He didn't ask who had what, he just threw our plates at us and never asked who had what. The food is the most important reason to dine here so I would definitely eat here but be mindful of poor customer service. read more

Yearly we visit Key West Florida and our first dinner night is always at the Conch Republic . A family friendly place But this year was the worst, the server sat us down and the flies just flew all over us. It was disgusting after we ordered the food as soon as it came the flies got right in my entree I was furious. The server suggested putting hot sauce on my plate but by that point I was ready to GO! Conch Republic is a popular hot spot in Key West. Waterfront dining, the entire restaurant is essentially a massive covered patio. They have plenty of fans cranking! Fresh seafood is the name of the game when you're down here. Here at Conch Republic, they have a big ole menu filled with fan favorites, specials, and the classics. One of my favorite things to eat when I'm back in Florida is a blackened mahi sandwich. Squeeze of citrus and tartar sauce. Usually served with fries, and washed down with a cold beer. Yuengling preferably! This hit the spot to a T. Our waiter was friendly and funny. The place gets really busy and they would have benefitted for a few more staffers on hand. And keep in mind, lots of birds will join you for your meal...what are you gonna do? Places like Conch Republic exist for a reason. We were in Key West for the day and the Mrs was hung over . So after the bike tour she needed food and a drink. I knew Conch Republic would make her happy and it did. Server next to us repeatedly put his but in my daughters face and chose to stand in between our table and his, even though he had two tables directly next to each other and one was empty half our meal, we also made a point to ask for that not to happen after the first time. No change. Had to get napkins and straws from hostess. Mostly all outdoors with large seating area and bar. Decent view. A little loud. People smoke on the pier if that is something you are concerned about. Has a pay to park lot. Wouldn't seek out this establishment again. I'm a New England girl. I love my oysters any which way they can be served, and I have had them many ways in many places. THIS HERE, this baked oyster callaloo dish, is the best baked oyster dish I've ever had! It's orgasmic. My mom even caught the moment it happened on camera haha! Mind-blowingly excellent. The conch fritters and cocktails were also top notch, as was the service and overall restaurant. They have wide open window spaces so it's breezy and airy inside. Sadly though, even with a breeze, it was too hot on the island for me to try their conch chowder which I wanted badly. Came here for dinner. The menu has items listed as GF but many are not vegetarian (which is fine since it's a seafood restaurant). My friend and I split the island salad. The dressing was really sweet but loved the plantain chips with fruit. The server indicated that I could order sides. Based on GF reviews, the rice and smashed potatoes were safe.
