Sloppy Joe's - Key West Server - Jenny, she was great in service and helped up with our drink and food order choices. Vodka Soda - Extra Lime Chardonnay Cabernet Shot - Sloppy's Key Lime Chicken Tenders Cajun Fries Live music - Tim Hollohan There is an annual The Hemingway Look-Alike Society contest. The deco, is an old fashion looking bar. There are so much pictures from Hemingway history from the family. A must visit.
On our last cruise, one of the destinations was the wonderful Key West, FL. Sloppy joes is a short walk from the port so it was a no-brainer. It's a huge establishment but keep in mind, it is popular and it does get veeeeery packed. They have a live band so it really makes the place fun and alive while you are visiting. We had to try the original Sloppy Joe sandwich. You have the option of getting fries on the side for a up-charge or it comes with pickles on the side. I haven't had a sloppy Joe in yearssss and this one really hit it out of the park for me. We all really enjoyed it. For an appetizer, we tried the conch fritters and it was also delicious. The key lime mustard was a chefs kiss. It comes with 8 fritters so it was a good option for sharing. Definitely worth spotting by when you are in Key West!
A Key West Tradition! You have to stop at Sloppy Joe's at least once on the trip! The drinks and food are both so delicious! They say they have the best mule in town and it was delicious! A classic Sloppy Joe is the way to go however this time we got Sloppy loaded fries and WOW! They were phenomenal. Just what you need if you are out bar hopping in Duval St. The atmosphere is always high energy and fun! Even very busy our drinks and food came out very quickly. The staff were all super friendly!
This bar is fun! I'd come back here every keys trip! I got the prohibition punch. Bar tenders were wonderful!
This is a big, raucous, bar with decent food, and a big stage with a musical show. It is legendary because this is where Earnest Hemingway used to drink in Key West. You can also tour his house, but the bar is virtually unchanged from his time. (Or so they say) We liked it so much we had a drink there the first night and had dinner and a drink there the second night. The service was friendly and good. The drinks were cold and the pour was more than fair. The food was just okay but certainly tasty. The atmosphere was happy and relaxed. The show was funny and topical. It is a worthwhile stop when you visit Key West. We got dessert at the ice cream shop down the street.

The shrimp and chips was classic bar food, nothing to write home about but got the job done (beware: no malt vinegar). Overall, a fun stop in Key West just manage your expectations.
BLUF: Decent food. Great vibe. Good service We were lucky enough to find a table on a busy Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere was fantastic...live music, a fun fundraiser for local non-profits. Great friendly crowd and staff. Server was attentive and service was quick. We had a couple beers, a traditional Sloppy Joe, and onion rings. None were great or especially good, but they were decent. The Sloppy Joe could have used a bit more meat sauce...was more bread than anything else. Onion rings either had a bit too much batter or slightly undercooked. Worth the visit...yes. But nothing exceptional or "must have." I'd go back, but more so for vibes than the food. :)

It is decorated with military flags hanging from ceiling and flags of other countries. I had pulled pork sandwich which was really good just enough sauce and my husband had Philly cheese steak which was very cheesy and tasted delicious. Its a fun place to come when Key West.
Arguably the epitome of Key West dive bars. Very crowded, loud, and with live music. Service was a bit slow but this wasn't surprising because they were pretty busy on a Thursday afternoon. Bartenders were friendly despite being overtaxed.
This was my first time at Sloppy Joe's Bar, and I loved it! It was PACKED but rightfully so. The ambiance was definitely fun and I loved there was live music. As my drink, I ordered the Key West Lemonade, I believe, and I thought it was great. Just the right amount of alcohol, and a perfect afternoon beverage. If you're in the Key West area, I would definitely recommend Sloppy Joe's for a quick drink and getting to enjoy some live music.
The original Sloppy Joe's since 1933. Of course in addition to the Pain in the Ass and piña colada frozen drinks, we shared a sloppy joe. Everything was great. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from a place called Sloppy Joe's but that's exactly what gives this place its character and charm. Our waitress Tereza was awesome and made sure we never wanted for anything. We WILL be back and highly recommend you visit..

I could not come to Key West, go to the Hemingway house and not come to Sloppy Joe's Bar. It was pretty packed but still we found a table. Our waitress was awesome, she was working the bar from the front. The live music was pretty good and the ambiance was really fun. We had to order the sloppy joe. Neither my wife nor i are huge sloppy joe fans but we had to have one. I thought it was OK but my wife ordered a bologna sandwich. Yeah, simple things like that give her pleasure. Me too. I gotta say, I love bologna and cheese sandwiches. I had a couple of Sloppy Joe's Island ales and my wife tried the Sloppy Rita. After the ale, I had to try the Landshark beer, which was pretty good too. read more

I think it's practically a law that you have to stop at Sloppy Joe's when in Key West. You don't have to get a meal, like my group did, but you at least have to get a drink! We met our friends here on a Thursday night and the place was hoppin'! The bar area was crowded and all the tables were occupied. Live music filled the place, and servers were running their butts off! I saw Conch Fritters on the menu and ordered a batch for the table. I had always wanted to try them (but I won't eat escargot? Don't ask me the logic on that one...). They were actually delicious on their own, but the dipping sauce they came with added that little something extra. You know what I mean. For my meal, I ordered the Cuban Mix sandwich. Honestly, I prefer the one I get back home. This one was a little on the dry side, and I think they use yellow mustard, not dijon...yes, it makes a difference! To drink, I had a Margarita and then a coke; both were standard. Hubs had the same sandwich as me and said the same thing, but our friends all ordered something different and said their food was good. Ours was too, don't get me wrong, but it was hard not to compare it to home. Yes, I would come back here, but I would like to sit at the bar the next time, and get that experience. When in Key West, one must go to Sloppy Joes. The orange vodka creamsicle drink is the bomb! I highly recommend. The band was great , and fun. I did have a sloppy Joe sandwhich and it was good ( if thats your thing) I found out the bar name was actually due to the original owner Joe ( nothing to really do with the sandwich). They fid have a decent menu of other stuff. Nice attached gift shop also. Very fun place ... iconic read more

We sit at the bar with a young bartender, Jordan ( I believe) he was such a gem of a bartender. Calm, nice, talkative. Great place to hang out and have some drinks. read more
Sloppy Joe's is another iconic location in the Keys and we stopped here briefly on our meandering walk of the area. We didn't linger for long because the business was packed to the gills and we were on to the next venue. Has a definite dive bar feel which feels relaxed and welcoming. We didn't get to try the food this time. read more
Definitely a tourist trap bar with weak drinks. It is in a great location on Duval St. I stopped here during a cruise ship stop and we had to be back on the boat by 2pm. I'm sure this place is fun at night with all the drunk tourists. read more
Sloppy Joe's is a legacy Key West bar in the heart of Duval Street and is a must stop spot if you're in Key West. We were there for a weekend and stopped in both Saturday and Sunday evening and saw band Nightbreakers and they were absolutely outstanding! All staff throughout the bar were so amazing and friendly, and with multiple service bars, there never was a long wait to get a drink and the drinks were all good pours and a great value for the money. If you're in Key West, stop into Sloppy Joe's! read more

It's a local bar (historical landmark in the community). You walk in and seat where you'd like and the service is friendly. They have live music for what it seems like the whole day which is cool. If your here for the food its an okay experience. Tried the conch fritters and they were soft for my liking (kind of reminds me of Japanese takoyaki), I thought they would be crispier. Fish sandwich, sloppy joes were alright Z the winner was the fish and chips. If you come mainly for drinks I think you'd have a better experience. I'd recommend hanging out for the music, vibes and alcohol! read more
Came here on a very hot afternoon for some frozen drinks. I got tried the frozen rum punch and lemonade. Both were great and very refreshing. The place it's large with plenty of seating. They had a guy playing the guitar and I have to say he was really bad. I wished they just had a playlist instead. I wasn't hungry since I just had lunch but I really wanted to try the sloppy joes so I went with the fries. It was a large portion and very cheesy. I found the meat to be a little sweet for my taste but it was good overall. This is a great place to grab a drink or 2 if you are in town. read more

Saturday at Sloppy Joe's bar and it was hopping! Solo music artist on the stage, playing favorites of Jimmy Buffett, and other island favorites. The sound system is amazing. Seated close to the stage, I just had to take in the ambience. This place is not touristy at all, it's more of an institution. There are great drink and beer specials I ordered a local brewery draft, along with a Sloppy Joe. My friend ordered the three chicken tacos and a tequila based drink called The Refresher Service was provided by a young man (Noah) who was very personable, and professional. Somehow he reminded me of Mikey from Orange County Choppers! Service for both the drinks and food were very quick. I liked the tank from the sloppy Joe, it was so on point. And that draft bear just went down so sweetly. My friend loved the chicken tacos and her tequila base drink. One more would've had her on her ass This isa can't miss bar if you are visiting Key West. It's so nostalgic, so relaxing, the music is great, fast service, it's a well oiled machine. If I was to live on Key West, I could only imagine what would happen if the house was in walking distance to this bar! read more

We came here during our January 2025 Key West visit and enjoyed our time immensely! This place is a must visit when in town and there are also cameras facing the entrance that live stream! You can have friends watch you live on YouTube and you can wave as they watch. The service was fantastic at the bar - quick, friendly, and efficient. The music was lively and the band we heard was putting on one hell of a show, with a cover of "All Night Long" that got the whole audience spun up. And of course we ordered the namesake sandwich - which you have to get here. It was really good and made for a very satisfying quick bite. You gotta come to Sloppy Joe's when in Key West, and when you come, you gotta try the sandwich. You won't have any regrets! read more

Cool place it's kind of a must do but drinks were average and pricey. Food was adequate. After not seeing anything I wanted I ended up with sloppy joe fries. Fries, a little sloppy Joe stuff which wasn't great and completely covered with melted cheese. That being said our waitress was awesome, energetic, and had perfect timing. My next trip won't include this place. read more

Pros: After hearing all the stories all around town, it was really fun to see the place. The ambiance is very fun. Huge place with tons of tables and Hemingway decor and a huge music stage that I assume is always in use. Service was good. Plenty of servers for all the tables. The food was ok. On par with fried food truck food. Cons: The food was a little lacking compared to other bars of similar stature on the island. Same with the drinks. And the singer had been doing this for a long time, obviously, as he didn't really seem to care about following how long he said he was going to be on break for. Tips: Get in, get out. Lots to see on Key West. read more
"The" place to stop in Key West ... you cannot pass this place up! Yep, it's a dive, but still a special, iconic place. We stopped after a meal close-by, even mid-afternoon packed with folks from all over. History here too... "Hemingway's Bar" that helped him forget several wives over the years! Came to Key West on vacation, and pretty much every touristy thing and every story told recommended going to Sloppy Joe's Bar, so we did. It was very busy, but there are a lot of tables, so you just take a few minutes, and something clears up. Ambiance was pretty hip and happening. Key West stuff everywhere, Ernest Hemingway stuff everywhere, different sports team stuff everywhere, and the music stage right there front and center. It was a really neat looking place, for sure. Service was good. They seem to have plenty of staff. Our drinks kept coming, and the food came out promptly. No concerns there. We only got one little app, because we really were just killing time before dinner that night. It was the conch fritters, and, like all conch fritters, they were ok. Lots of crispiness, airy bread inside, whispers of conch flavor here and there. Overall, like all places in Key West, Sloppy Joe's is less of an authentic place and more of a gift shop for the stories of Key West past. We even picked up a souvenir pin on the way out. read more
