My $40 rum flight, curated by Frank, the bartender.
    Chris R.

Large selection of rums from bottom shelf to top plus cocktails and other spirits. Our bartender, Frank, was pleasant and knowledgeable. They have a book of Rum Flights but were out of many of the rums included so I asked for a custom flight, gave him a price point, and he set me up. All rums were new to me and I enjoyed the tasting. Beware, the slight is five 1 oz pours! The place is small and dark inside, so could be cramped on a busy night. Was fine for us and 7 of us found seating. The rest of my party enjoyed cocktails.

An incredible bar. That's what's in this photo.

Incredible bar with history and authenticity. All drinks are made correctly, no commercial mixers here. Sparkles is the best bartender in the keys by far. The knows how to mix a drink correctly. On top of it all, the prices are fair for what you get. This is an absolute gem.

BEST PINA COLADA EVER Hubby and I stopped by for the anniversary. Cool decor-- fun atmosphere-- delectable drink selection. The bar tender knows what's up. Will come again. 10/10

250 rums available by the glass! That got me in. And tasting flights: 21 in all. The flights are 5 rums, one full ounce each! That's a lot! But in the interest of research I knew I had to do it. Knowing that they serve no food I fortified myself with a snack and returned. And they didn't seem to mind my munching on a bag of plantain chips while I drank. The rum book is kept behind the counter and given to the drinker on request. It's like 30 laminated pages long, listing every one of the rums offered (many also sold as full bottles to take home) as well as the flights with detailed tasting notes. That kept me busy while I drank, trying to identify "sweet plantain", "touches of cacao", "hints of fig and raisin", and so on. I don't have a super developed palate so I had to use some imagination, but they sure were yummy, each so different, and made me never want to go back to ordinary liquor store rum again. My flight, the "Kepford", at $50 was in the middle of the price range and in my opinion quite reasonable for 5 ounces of unique rums that I would never have sampled otherwise. One of the flights was $300 and I'm sure they are amazing but that's a little pricy for me. I'll stick to the mid-range offerings and I'm already planning my next visit! The single bartender was great. Knowledgeable about the rums and helpful with my questions. In festive Christmas outfits (a Cheers Christmas top when I peeked in the day before and a bejingled Santa shirt today) I watched as she briefly went out back to retrieve the 5 bottles, poured them into good quality glasses and arrayed them in a wood rack so I could keep track of which is which and carry them to my table. Counter service only here. It's just a tiny little bar, maybe 8 seats at the counter and 6 at the tables for two, with some more in the patio out front. About half full when I arrived but filled to capacity as I lingered for over 90 minutes enjoying my drinks, studying the tasting notes and taking in the scene. People tend to stay a long time here. Some were already sitting when I arrived and still there when I left. Their clichéd motto "Come in as strangers, leave as friends" doesn't seem so clichéd here. Crowded and loud and I didn't mind that at all. I was sitting solo at a table so I was more of an observer than a participant but that was fine. Though I was asked more than once about my rum flights, most people drinking tropical standards like mai tais, margaritas, and mojitos. A big fat cat strolled by on occasion but he was aloof and not good company.

I wish we would've gotten this guy's name because he was a great bartender... very friendly, helpful, and knew how to mix his rum! We stopped in on a weeknight after dinner... while walking back to our hotel, we came across The Rum Bar and stopped in and this cool dude with a curled handle bar mustache was working - he was spot on with his ability to engage the customers while keeping business flowing. As for the bar - They have a very large rum list and a lot of rum cocktails on their cocktail list! Very impressive! They have the standards, like Pusser's Pain Killer... but also the cachaça drinks, like the ever-popular Caipirinha. We tried several during our two visits and enjoyed them all. The venue is what we expect, appreciate, and adore about Key West bars too! Definitely stop in!

First time being here.. it was late but the bartender still served us even though he was about to close. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the building and about all the rums. Also the drink was great!!!

Banana split drink on the left and a banana daiquiri on the right. They were both so good.

We had the absolute best experience here! It's a small bar inside a bed and breakfast, but the drinks were hands down the best we tried in key west. The bartender was also very nice and knowledgeable. I'm still dreaming about my banana daiquiri.

    Can you have a cigar?

Probably they sell them there, if not outside is good they have a patio.

    Are they dog friendly?

You can have dogs outside on the porch while you enjoy your cocktail. The porch is my favorite location here!

And bonus, it's not only a bar, but also a liquor store with an awesome selection of wines and spirits. This bar definitely has a locals vibe. It's small , dark and cozy and the small tables with velvet chairs are very welcoming. We loved it so much. We came back for a second night. We tried the Maria Rita, which was a reposado tequila with fresh lemon, lime, hibiscus, and habanero, perfect version of a margarita. We also tried blowing smoke up your glass, this was made with Papa Pilar, dark rum, pineapple, fresh lime, house made basil syrup & tiki bitters. Absolutely fabulous. We also tried their deviled eggs each topped with unique toppings like trout row, bacon, and scallions. They were absolutely fabulous. They also have a great selection of charcuterie, Key nuts which you can order with different flavor, profiles, caviar, olives & peppers. Also, the most generous happy hour I've ever heard of from 12 to 6 PM every day. Don't miss out on this little jewel when in Key West.

There is a small bar with about 12 stools, a small lounge area with about 4 small seating nooks, and then a high top bench area that is along the wall. Service and set up of this place is not conducive to being able to attend to patrons. Could only order food if you were seated at the bar. We sat at the high tops and you had to go to the bar to get your drinks. Problem is that the bar has patrons sitting as well so you are hovering over them waiting for a drink. It was very uncomfortable to impose upon others to try to get a drink. I am sure they didn't appreciate the audience as they were eating as well. The bartenders were way too busy and overwhelmed. Not only are they serving the seated patrons and the 4 small nooks, they are also making drinks for the attached restaurant. There were a gazillion tickets coming out of the printer and servers standing on the other side of the window waiting. It's just not possible to serve everyone with just two bartenders. We waited about 10 minutes for service. The drinks were underwhelming for a speakeasy. Just your typical menu. What we ordered was okay. They just missed a great opportunity to create unique twists on classics or to have craft cocktails. Even the classics (which are perfect for a speakeasy) weren't that great. For a speakeasy, the drinks are the main event. Glad we tried it as we always seek out speakeasies. Wouldn't go again.
