This is not super easy to find if you don't know it's within the hotel, but that made me love it even more. It's a tiny hole in the wall type bar that's super cozy. They have popcorn and peanuts up for grabs that were both lovely late night snacks to go with our cocktails. This is a tough review. The place is awesome. The history is awesome. The vibe is awesome. The peanuts, popcorn and hot dogs are awesome. But, when you charge $9 for a bottle beer and $13.50 for a Captain and coke that does not relate to a "free hotdog" at all. When asking if the bill was correct, we were even told "well, you got a free hotdog". What?!?! I don't think is on my list to visit again even after all these years. Sorry. read more

Been coming to the Chart Room for 30 years, very cool vibe and lots of history. Have had lots of good times there. Sadly my recent visit will be my last time there. I refuse to pay $8 for a bottle of Miller Lite, especially during happy hour time where many bars in KW have great happy hour deals. I will spend my money at one of the many other fun and interesting bars in KW. The Chart Room is cool but no longer worth it for me. So sad. read more

We really struggled finding this from Google maps but with assistance we did and it was worth the effort. A very small bar with map charts all over the walls and ceiling. They usually have free hot dogs, peanuts and popcorn but apparently the hot dog crock pot wasn't working and although there was some popcorn the machine is on its last leg and we had more kernels than popped corn. None of this impacted the experience. It's an incredible spot that should be visited!! read more

We stopped in as a tribute to Jimmy Buffett during our key west trip. Decor is easy going and similar to other bars in Key West. A bit trickier to find as it's not immediately on the "strip", but GPS helped us to locate it. Recommended by a friend so we went. They got great "free" hot dogs, popcorn and peanuts so fill up on em because after you get the tab for your drinks you won't be able to eat in town. We walked over to this hidden dive bar on the first night of our trip and I am super glad we did. This is definitely a local spot despite being located in a resort. We had a great time chatting with the locals and the bartender (Marty) is awesome too. We received some pretty good pointers on some of must-visit spots in Key West and the ones to definitely avoid. Very cool bar surrounded by the Pier House Hotel. Word has it that the bar refused to move, so the hotel was built around it. The bar is very rustic with wood interior. There is a bar with about 8 stools. There are about 6 tables. It is a SMALL space. They have fresh popped popcorn, barrel of peanuts, and a crockpot with hot dogs....all complimentary. Bartender was friendly. Drinks were average pricing for the area. You don't have to wait in line to be served. You can carry on a conversation because there is no loud band or dj. There were tvs on showing sports. Overall, it was a cool experience and fun place to hang out for our group of 8 ladies. read more

It's really way off the beaten path, but after having to trudge through the rain that we encountered the whole night during Fantasy Fest week... it was finally nice to sit down, dry off, and drink a couple rounds of beer to celebrate my friend's birthday. The atmosphere is small, smoky as smoking is allowed indoors. It is attached to a hotel (I forget what), but the bar itself does not have bathrooms, so you have to go inside the hotel to use the bathrooms which was after 4 bottles of beer, like going through a maze trying to find the bathrooms. And yeah like everyone says, free popcorn and free hotdogs (no buns).... yey... my two most disliked foods. Bah. But they had free roasted peanuts, too. Thank you!!!! Would I come back, I don't know. Probably only if I do stay at this hotel or a hotel at this end of Duval. read more

Went here once during our stay and I can really see the attraction. Prices are still resort high but free popcorn and peanut, and hotdogs are a good touch. It would have a bigger impact on us if we had visited in a very busy time of the year, but as it ended up it is a getaway from crowds that weren't there. read more

The Chart Room, located on the grounds of the Pier House, is a relaxed, dimly lit hole in the wall bar with a few tables to congregate with friends. There is a barrel of fresh roasted peanuts which you can help yourself to along with hot dogs during happy hour. This place dons a relaxed nautical motif in a low key setting. A quiet atmosphere where you can kick back and relax away from the madness and mayhem of Duval. It is not by any means a hot spot, but a reason to enjoy a nice cocktail with a great bartender, and meet some nice folks. Though this is a Pier House hotel establishment, the Chart Room attracts quite a few locals as well. It is considered one of those best kept secret locations that everyone likes to go to now and again. Our party of six locals all sat around a large table spool, sipping cocktails and wine, sharing stories and having a few laughs before moving on to our next destination. A great gathering spot as well. Our bartender was Victor and he is VERY nice. Oh... be sure to ask the bartender about the bars history, and the patrons who have left a bit of their ashes in little sealed holes on the bar top. I think I got that right. This place is the perfect place to make friends, stay up all night, and get in trouble. Off the beaten path (terribly hard to find), but so worth it when you arrive. Saddened that this place only has two reviews. We were in Key West a few years ago, and we still mention "Hey remember that little bar that was impossible to find in Key West?" This place is pretty sweet, and definitely worth finding. I truthfully do not like Buffett (sorry) but he apparently got his start here in the corner. It's a tiny, dimly lit dive bar, but has cheap beer, interesting locals, and free food. How could you possibly dislike this place? Fun little hidden jewel. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Duval street and still find a small yet lively bar. Free popcorn and hot dogs along with great music and conversations are always my cup of tea or double of makers in this case. This is a fun little place. We had drinks here a couple times while we watched a guy eat some popcorn and then throw what he didn't eat back in the machine. Yuck. Drinks are good but the bartenders do something that makes me crazy. They automatically add 19% tip on your bill and they don't tell you so you end up double tipping them. The first time we didn't notice because we paid cash. The second time my husband paid at the bar with a credit card but didn't catch it. We thought it was really expensive since we only had one drink. When we asked the bartender why drinks were so much more than the last time we were there, he said it must have been happy hour. He neglected to say that on top of that he already included a tip. Try it out, just watch your bills. read more

The Chart Room is my most favorite bar in Key West. Luckily, I was staying at the Pier House so I just walked downstairs to get a drink and munch on some popcorn. The first thing that turned me on to this place is the decor. The walls are filled with pictures, police patches, stickers, and random things like charts on the ceiling. The table in the corner also has actual coins found in a sunken ship and a gold bar. If you are hungry, there are peanuts, hotdogs, and a popcorn machine. But i'm pretty sure the peanuts are for decoration since I saw them crushed all over the floor. The second thing I really enjoy are the bartenders. Each bartender i've met were personable and great to converse with. Just ask them for a brief story about the Chart Room and they will tell you the history of the place. Fun facts: -The bar has a few holes in it with nameplates underneath. The holes that are closed mean that person is deceased AND a tiny bit of their ashes are in it (because they loved the bar THAT much. The holes that are still open means the person is still alive. My husband and I actually met one of those people last night. But don't get too excited now! They no longer do the ashes in the bar thing for new people. -One of Jimmy Buffet's first gigs was performed here. -The Pier House was built around the bar because the locals wouldn't let them tear it down. One of the things I miss most about Key West is spending time with my family bs'n in that bar with the bartenders and locals after a long day on Duval. This is truly a hidden gem and a must see if you are visiting Key West!!! read more

A place to get away from Key West in the middle of Key West. This was our home away from in KW from 87 to 92. Listening to all the locals, Chris the Bartender from Louies Afterdeck, Capt Tony yelling at Mel Fisher and Mel Fishers young girlfriends making the move on everyone. Never saw Jimmy here, but he came all the time I heard. Had Dark and Stormy's with McGuane and even Hunter Thompson came in one night while we got drunk on a pre hurricane night. This was our before and after place and will always have fond memories for it and hope it stands forever. Was in last year around Fantasyfest just to have a cold one, totally dead at 6pm and then dead and closed at 12... weird, but the couple of Dark and Stormy's hit the spot and had a chance to catch up with some old KW friends. It should be on a Parrot Head walking tour, but thank god they don't have them yet. read more
