Needed a driving break & some lunch on our way to Key West, FL. We saw The Boardwalk Bar & Grill on Big Pine Key and said lets stop here. First time visiting Key West and we didn't have much local knowledge to guide us. This place is great! Friendly bar & grill that was loaded with locals on a Sunday (2/01/26) afternoon. A nice group shifted to their left so we could grab two seats at the bar. One was a chef from a place on Stock Island. Our server, Cassie G, acknowledged us as we sat down. She was one bartender and this place was very busy. Drinks first while we looked over the menu. Bloody Maria ($7) nice & spicy a wine ($5.70). Lunch was smoked fish dip, celery & crackers ($14) - spot on taste & small Caesar salad ($14). Lots of choice from fish bites to lobster mac & cheese. Aslo salads, burgers, & pizza. An American roadhouse with good music, pool tables, arcade games inside. Also outdoor seating. A great value for your dollar. Open: 11am-12am M-Th, 11am-2am F, 8am-2am Sat, 8am-12am Sun. It's still very loud in here, but the drinks are still cheap. $5 well vodka and $7 for Deep Eddy, yes please. Megan A was our server and she was attentive and friendly, and there was live music. We ordered the cheese curds because we knew they would be good. If we had not eaten earlier, we would have ordered the grouper reuben as well. Took a quick pit stop here on our way down to Key West from Key Largo. Typical dive bar like vibes, but open for kids/families to have a quick meal, and that we did! Got some tacos, (super strong ) drinks - some blueberry mint concoction and an espresso martini, and bangin wings/nuggets. Fast service and food was good for what it's worth. I like to give positive reviews, though sometimes it's nice to gate keep a few places for just locals. This would be one, but, it's a great choice for snowbirds too. We had no choice but to eat at this place. We were in the south end of the keys and left at 9:30pm headed back to our resort in Islamorada. It was a weekday and all the other restaurants were closed or closing. We looked this one up and were a little worried based on the picture. We decided to try it anyway and arrived about 1030. The menu is quite large. The pizza was amazing and cooked perfectly. The drinks were great and VERY reasonably priced. The service was amazing. Very good place to stop and eat! I would recommend for drinks or late night bar snacks. We had a larger for group for dinner, food was ok, it was slower to come out. Server was great. Drinks were strong tasting. I had the fried buffalo chicken quesadilla and it was ok, no description on the menu but it had blue cheese in it which was not a pleasant surprise. The kids Mac and cheese was good. My husband had the jambalaya and said it was a little salty. Overall it was fine. Maybe if we go Back when it's not so crowded it may be better- but the night we went it was hot, loud, and slower service. read more

We wanted seafood. This place had seafood, pretty good reviews, and was near our campsite. It's pretty big inside, with lots of TV screens. The waitress was nice. I had some questions, like what the fish of the day was, and she answered them. We ordered the fried shrimp dinner and the fish of the day fried. Come to find out fried means different things for different dishes here. The shrimp was deep fried (which I would expect) but the fish (Grouper) was just pan fried (surprise!). That could have been OK, but the shrimp was fried too long (nearly burnt) and the fish was just bland. It must have been fried in some neutral oil because I couldn't taste any butter, and there definitely weren't any seasonings. It came with a side of tartar, which would have been good with breaded fish, but not pan fried fish, and the tiny piece of lemon just didn't cut it. So you're showing up two weeks after the fact, asking me a question that you know the answer to? Both myself and the driver called multiple times and your phone was off...not ringing, off. The driver even took pictures of the bill and went back on her next order and talked to your staff. Why didn't you call us back that night to make it right? So new review I got a pizza and where do I start Boy I was going in with the expectation of a great pizza based on the great reviews so either the people eating were so stoned that you coulda fed them dirt and they would've enjoyed it or it's a different pizza I got today Let me start by saying the first thing my wife and I said as we opened the box "Oh wow are you sure we got a large " Because this pizza looks like a medium at best let me put it like this if you ever so slightly move the box you can hear the whole pizza rattle in this huge box. Now let me get into the actual pizza itself MY LORD WAS THIS PIZZA BAD (it was just a regular cheese) at first, it looked alright the crust looked crispy But as you take a bite the cheese just falls off in a block and the sauce is like chunky marinara The pizza just did not taste good at all I took two bites and I literally threw the slice In disgust back in the box. I'm going to go to the store and get a frozen pizza cuz it'll be better for sure. If you like 20 bucks disappearing out of your bank for a bad time this one is for you Ps. I wish them great success. The atmosphere is your typical lower Keys bar with lots of TVs, lots of drinks. You can tell they put a lot into it to make it the best that it can be. The pizza that I had ordered was not to my taste, but I believe they are giving it the best way they know how. As a local business, we wish them luck. read more

I need to do an update to my previous posting of this establishment. This is a restaurant that the entire island of Big Pine Key wants to be successful, we citizens need a place that is open late and serves quality simple food. But unfortunately that is not the case as of late. I understand that it's very difficult to keep staff in the keys, but one place you need to be consistent is your kitchen. Your cook should be a priority and unfortunately that is not the case lately. I write this review in hope that the owners read it and bring back the quality of product they started out with. I have had 4 disappointing meals here in the last few weeks. The fries are always undercooked, the breading on the fish and the chicken sandwiches are soggy. No one is overseeing the quality coming out of the kitchen. Owners, PLEASE come back and get your kitchen in order. read more

The owner posted on social media and asked for everyone to make posts on 4 out of 6 review sites in order to receive a free drink so here is one. Went today for appetizers and happy hour. Everyone was happy with their drinks. French fries are just frozen, flavorless crinkle cut fries. Nachos were soggy due to the chili and the cheese was really low end so most of that was left over. The funnel cake sticks were greasy and dense and only one person kind of liked them. The buffalo chicken quesadilla was awful. It is made with fried chicken fingers and the cheese is burnt on the outside of the tortilla. Their recommendation was to order it with the cheese on the inside next time. We stopped in after a long drive and at recommendation of a local. I can't tell you how disappointed we were. First, we waited over 15 min for the waitress to bring us a menu after being seated. She finally brought us a menu and asked if we wanted something to drink. Ten minutes later we got water. Then another 15 minutes before she came by to take our order. And another 23 min before we got our meal which was wrong, overcooked, at best luke warm AND she forgot the ranch dressing we asked for. When we finally got her attention, she apologized and said she was going to bring her manager over. After another extended wait, her manager apologized and offered a card for 15% off our next visit, which was an insult. So what's wrong with this picture? 1). The lack of attention and extended wait was ridiculous 2). Incorrect order lacked attention to detail and should have never been brought out without her making sure if was correct. 3). The food was over cooked (burned) and cold (so it sat waiting for the waitress to pick it up and bring it out. 4). The manager, at very least should have comped the meal and offered a discount to come back and give them another try. Are my expectations too high? Not at all. I spent many years in the service industry. So I know what service should be, verses what it shouldn't be. And they definitely missed the mark on that. Bad service, bad food and not rectifying the issue only served for no recommendation for friends. By the way, we came with a large group, so none of them will eat there. Finally a GREAT place to hang out! Great atmosphere very friendly staff ... but the best part is that the food is GREAT !! The menu while diverse is spot on ! Something for everyone! This was the best meal we had in the Key West area. We had the JUMBO garlic shrimp, and they were jumbo! We also had the mahi fish special that had great flavor. With each dinner, you get 2 sides, and the onion rings are fabulous. The BBQ brisket was very good, too. We were too full but got the homemade key-lime pie to go, also super fabulous with a thick graham cracker crust. Adam, the owner, came over to our table a few times and talked to us, making sure all was well. The server, Megan, was great and very attentive. After a long drive to Big Pine Key from Indiana we were looking forward to a good meal before ending our day. After reading other reviews we decided to give Boardwalk a try! It is a "bar" type atmosphere but VERY kid friendly! Everyone was so nice and there was never a moment where i felt as though i had my kids in a bar. The service was AMAZING! Our server Lara went above and beyond for us. I'm not sure if she had two seconds to stop all evening and she never lost her incredibly sweet personality and exceptional customer service. We all had various things on the menu and every one was beyond delicious. The mahi Ruben alone is worth coming for. I would come back for the sandwich every day. If we lived locally this would become a regular spot for us. I'll be leaving this recommendation in the guest book of our rental as well! Hoping to visit again on our next trip. read more

Because we sat with 7 people 3 children waiting to order for 25 mins. Then when she finally came over to take our order she only took have our orders. I went to tell her 5 mins later when she never came back and she said oh I was helping here and walked away. Needless to say i can't comment on the food we never got to order. We left and went to driftwood. Yummy pizza at driftwood down the road. Won't be back and won't recommend. read more
