Hers was perfect. Large eggs, soft yolks, abundant meat. Mine was almost edible. Eggs the size of a golf ball. Hard yolks. Beef had the texture of shoe leather. Potato pancakes were tolerable. We started with the best coconut shrimp I think I've ever had. It's the famous pink shrimp of Florida & the coconut breading was divine ! light, delicate crispy, served with a tasty mango chutney, dipping sauce, just perfection. by the way, this went perfectly with a crisp, white wine and my husband's tropical drink. Hands down best grouper sandwich I have ever had! Light & flakey!! Order the Littles clams in beer broth - I could have drank the broth! Was dipping my grouper sandwich in it!! This was our second time dining at Island Fish for dinner and we had a great meal! We arrived on the earlier side (4:45) with two toddlers and were able to be seated right away- by the water! There are kids menus with crayons which is always a plus. My husband had a key lime coloda beverage which was very refreshing. I have never had an oyster and have been wanting to try one and had one for a starter! Not knowing what to expect- it was fine? But I don't know what the hype is about. For entrees my husband had the lobster roll which he reported to be very good and I had the blackened mahi on a caesar. The mahi was very good but the salad had a little too much dressing for me- I hate a soggy lettuce leaf. My son had the popcorn shrimp kids meal & loved it! The ahi salad was generous but the fish also was tasteless and I wish I had asked them to leave the blue cheese off - weird, yuck. They have a gf "guide" to their menu if you ask for it but it just involves omitting things, so nothing to be excited about. The outdoor seating of the location for enjoying a sunset is nice. The waitress Tara seemed unable to deal with our feedback, other than offer a substitute salad, and just laughed nervously when we said she might want to tell the manager the meal lacked flavor. This place was incredible! The view was amazing and we got to sit on the docks. The fish were out in schools and we saw a manatee! The food was delicious! We had the shrimp tacos, captains dinner, clam linguine, and the grilled mahi. Everything was fresh and pretty quick. The service was good. While out and about exploring the Keys, we stayed at a local resort on Marathon. We asked our barkeep for recommendations, and he suggested Island Fish Company. My wife and I are celebrating our 30th Anniversary, and we absolutely love exploring places and trying local cuisines. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and drinks. First and foremost, it's hard to beat the Clam Chowders where I'm from, and I always have to sample others for validation. Admittedly, it's pretty damn tasty and I'd easily shell out some clams for this hearty cup of Chowda! After that, I went for the classic Surf n Turf with steak and Lobsta! Absolutely perfect. The steak was prepared how I requested it, and that buttery scrumptious chunk of crustacean tenderness hit the spot! Before hitting the beach we needed a spot for breakfast. Low and behold we spot this packed place. Located on the water. Pull up by land,sea, or helicopter as we saw. Views are all of the ocean marina. Nice breeze coming in and the place is huge so choose your spot, the views will still be there. We looked at the menu and with so many options we decided to go a la carte and make our own. Bestie had eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. I had black coffee with jalapeno corned beef hash, poached eggs and dry rye toast. Everything was cooked perfectly, bacon and hash browns were crispy, eggs poppable, coffee hot- no complaints. Also good to know they bake their bread in house so try the toast or French toast or a tasty sandwich or burger. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My wife and I stopped here for lunch after arriving in yhe Keys. We were seated immediately and our waitress (Emmalee) came right over to take our drink orders and answer questions. I had questions about the oysters since i had never tried them and she explained how to eat them and how to order. The oysters were very good and the sauce was also. For an entrée I had the fish tacos and they were big and really good with the cod fish. I also had the keylime pie, it was very dense and not very good. Overall we had a great experience and meal. Such a fun location while visiting the keys! Lots on the menu, and great drink options as well! Loved the vibe as the restaurant is open air to the outside, with a dock within view. We enjoyed watching the sharks and pelicans circle the boats as they cleaned their fish. Our waiter was fantastic and gave us lots of good recommendations. The service was okay. Our server wasn't rude, but he also didn't seem very friendly or welcoming until he dropped off the check. It felt like the bare minimum rather than warm or attentive service. The outdoor seating by the water was the highlight of the visit. It was relaxing and made for a nice atmosphere. This definitely seems like more of a place to grab a drink and hang out than a spot for a great meal. The bathrooms are also very nice and spacious. For food, we started with the key lime baked oysters. They had potential but were smothered with too much cheese, which really overpowered the dish. I ordered the seafood lovers pasta and unfortunately it was a huge miss. It was honestly the worst pasta I've ever had. The noodles tasted bland and greasy, almost like they were coated in movie theater butter. I couldn't eat more than one bite and instantly regretted ordering it. My husband took over my dish, he didn't like it either but said it was edible. He ordered the coconut fried lobster sandwich, which was the best thing we tried. It was flaky, flavorful, and cooked well. For dessert, we shared the deep fried key lime pie. It was tasty, though I discovered I prefer the traditional version, but it was still fun to try something different. Overall, the setting was nice, but the food was very hit or miss and the service didn't stand out. This was a fun place to stop on our way south to Key West. We were on a hunt for lobster rolls since it was the start of mini lobster season. We had a warm lobster roll with butter in mind vs cold with mayo. i looked up this location before we arrived and was happy to find they were serving our dish. The parking was very easy in a large lot but seemed to be filling up fast. The atmosphere was "Keys inviting"with a large tiki hut covering the indoors, awnings and boats in the marina. It was a hot day with fans blowing cooler air above our table so it was pleasant enough. I noticed the gift shop, the very long bar and a good crowd of small and large families enjoying the last weeks of summer vacation. Our server brought drinks right away and the food came out fairly quickly. The lobster and drawn butter were seasoned which took away from the pure lobster and butter event..but it was very enjoyable and we had our fix. Price was MP and turned out to be higher than the average lobster roll at $36 each but as i said we were hungry, on vacation and committed to our mission. I noticed other reviewers were mentioning the higher price as well. I did not take the time to look over the menu so i am not sure of the prices in general. I would probably stop here again on a trip to the Keys and try another dish. After completing our mission we continued south to enjoy the rest of our day in Key West. read more

There weren't many places nearby to eat near our hotel, so we just randomly chose this place for dinner. The outside was deceptive - inside was HUGE! There were multiple rooms including a bar with a live band. And it was on the water which was cool, but it was hard to see the water because of the covers on the windows. Even though there were many seats we still waited 30ish minutes to be seated. Our server was super sweet. I got the mahi with mango salsa and black beans. I didn't eat much of it as it was .. wet? A very strange taste. The next day I had a little belly upset. Not sure if it was related. I ended up giving my mahi to the local hotel cat. Plenty of drawn butter and superb seasoning made the lobster roll experience perfect. Island Fish, in Marathon in the Florida Keys, has an adorable and relaxed tiki hut setting right on the water. The environment is up market yet still casual. Service was friendly and fast. The restrooms were bizarrely lovely, with fresh flowers, mouthwash and little disposable cups, moisturizer, and a bowl of salt scrub with wooden spoons to apply it to your hands. Take a little walk at the water's edge after your meal. The color of the water in the Florida Keys is unlike anything I've ever seen. The conch Fritters were huge and tasty. We also tried their fish dip, which was good. The location, food and service were great. But, if you use a walker or cane and steps are a challenge - BE AWARE. The restrooms are only accessible from inside the restaurant by going up a flight of stairs. Or you can exit the restaurant, walk around to the front of the building and up a long ramp to enter the restroom area. For me, it was very difficult, inconvenient and actually painful. It was very good, the coating on the shrimp was nice and crisp and tasted amazing, came with rice and veggies which were good, only drawback was the plate was hot but the dish wasn't. Island Fish Co is a wonderful restaurant, its HUGE, and has limited waterfront dining, but no matter where you sit the ambiance is great, the waitstaff are attentive and treat you like family. It is a wonderful place to watch the sunset, and to continue drinking into the night. They have all sorts of drinks, cocktails, seasonal drinks, and a wide selection of food, its not all just fish and seafood. We stop here and have a dinner every time we make a run down to the keys, which is several times a year. If you are staying or just passing through Marathon, this is a must go. We were on a drive down the keys, but it was too far to make it to Key West. We decided to stop here for lunch, and then turn around. A wise decision. My partner is disabled, and the restaurant is very handicapped accessible. It's easy to get into the restaurant, and she said that the restrooms had plenty of room to move around in. The restrooms are up a short flight of stairs, but they also have a ramp to get to them. We loved the atmosphere. An old-fashioned seafood restaurant. Lots of cool decorations, that told us that yes, we were in the keys. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We decided to go with the hogfish platter.. For our starter, we chose a cup of the she-crab soup. . Oh my God... There was a good amount of crab in it, and the soup was smooth, silky, and so rich. It's one of the best seafood Chowder type soups we have ever had. It was definitely the highlight of the meal. I had the grilled hogfish, and my partner had hers broiled. We had never had hogfish before, so we didn't know quite what to expect. The fish was tender, flaky, and a bit sweet. Because hogfish feed on crustaceans, we could definitely notice that in the flavor of the fish. My fish was perfectly grilled. My partner's fish, there was a crust on top of it that was a bit spicy for her. But, with scraping off the crust, and sprinkling the fish with a good bit of lemon, she said it was still extremely good. The rice and veggies that came with the fish were perfect. The Dish did not eat overly heavy. My partner was stuffed, but there was no way I was going to leave without a slice of Key-lime pie. I liked the whipped cream that came with it, the pie was sweet and tangy. Just an absolutely excellent piece of pie. The price was on the higher end, but considering this is a higher end restaurant on the keys, plus with the quantity of the food, it was definitely worth it. We were excited to try this seafood restaurant on the bay side of Marathon. We started with some beers. We were going to skip the appetizers until we saw the Key lime Garlic grilled oysters on the menu. Boy they sounded so good that we had to order. For our entree, we thought about fish but then the craving for Florida spiny lobster hit! We both ordered the broiled lobster. They came out quickly but we both had befuddled looks on our faces.....where are the osyters?Unfortunately, they never made it to table. Server forgot to enter the order. The lobsters were good and hot the Vegetable side was on the cool side and the rice was ok at best. Service was awful. Literally, the server knew nothing. She couldn't answer prices off the menu, she could not get our order straight. We Asked for our key lime pie desert "to-go" and she even repeated it back to me out loud but brought it out to our table on a plate with spoons. There's too many good places to eat at in the keys.
