We came here for a late dinner and to hopefully catch the sunset. We timed it fairly spot on. They said it would be about a 20-25 minute wait but it actually took less than 15 minutes. We got seated inside just as the sun was starting to set. Sadly all the guests that had finished eating right before us decided to walk over to the dock outside the restaurant which just so happened to be the exact viewing location for the sunset so we didn't get any really good photos of it bc there were so many people over there videoing it and taking photos. It was still nice scenery while we waited for our food though. I ordered ceviche to start us off as our appetizer and it was really good. My dinner was a pasta dish with shrimp and scallops. The sauce was supposed to be a white cream sauce but it was really runny. Even adding extra Parmesan cheese to it didn't help thicken it. It tasted ok. Not my best pick. I had a choice of soup or salad with it. I chose their she crab soup and I'm glad I did. It was great. Almost reminded me of homemade chicken and dumplings soup just with crab. I really liked it. I should have stopped with that and the ceviche. My husband got a grouper fish sandwich. He thought it was good but the prices were a bit high for what it was. His fish sandwich was $29. Although good, not worth $29. My pasta definitely not worth the $31. May be a bit of a tourist trap but the food was decent. read more

A local favorite! They have the outdoor and indoor seating. Outdoor seating by the water has large fans and sunshades as needed. For the July heat, our elderly did okay. We were a bit sweaty in the evening. Outside is dog-friendly and they provide water dishes. Hey, Snowflakes, if you're bringing your naughty kids down who decide NOT to obey the don't feed the bird signs (includes fish), do us a favor and use your offspring as bait. I know that asks a lot since you'd have to put your phone down and address your screaming brat. But seriously, the staff here are too professional to police your ignorance. The service and food were both fantastic! While they focus on seafood, there is something for everyone on the menu, even your picky eaters. Fresh and very flavorful!! The fish dip, lobster/steak, chicken, key lime pie, and cheesecake are all highly recommended. Restrooms have AC and are clean (with mouthwash). Really good experience in late April at Island Fish Co. The food was great and service was good. It's an open-air casual restaurant with water views; not the best water views but better than looking at buildings or a parking lot. They have a few ceiling-mounted fans to try to keep the heat at bay. The shrimp poboy and onion rings were superb, and the wife really loved the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. Absolutely no complaints about the food or service. The cocktails left a little to be desired however; very small cups that we found lacking in flavor, but they looked tropical. This was our second time dining at Island Fish for dinner and we had a great meal! We arrived on the earlier side (4:45) with two toddlers and were able to be seated right away- by the water! There are kids menus with crayons which is always a plus. My husband had a key lime coloda beverage which was very refreshing. I have never had an oyster and have been wanting to try one and had one for a starter! Not knowing what to expect- it was fine? But I don't know what the hype is about. For entrees my husband had the lobster roll which he reported to be very good and I had the blackened mahi on a caesar. The mahi was very good but the salad had a little too much dressing for me- I hate a soggy lettuce leaf. My son had the popcorn shrimp kids meal & loved it! Before hitting the beach we needed a spot for breakfast. Low and behold we spot this packed place. Located on the water. Pull up by land,sea, or helicopter as we saw. Views are all of the ocean marina. Nice breeze coming in and the place is huge so choose your spot, the views will still be there. We looked at the menu and with so many options we decided to go a la carte and make our own. Bestie had eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. I had black coffee with jalapeno corned beef hash, poached eggs and dry rye toast. Everything was cooked perfectly, bacon and hash browns were crispy, eggs poppable, coffee hot- no complaints. The ahi salad was generous but the fish also was tasteless and I wish I had asked them to leave the blue cheese off - weird, yuck. They have a gf "guide" to their menu if you ask for it but it just involves omitting things, so nothing to be excited about. The outdoor seating of the location for enjoying a sunset is nice. While out and about exploring the Keys, we stayed at a local resort on Marathon. We asked our barkeep for recommendations, and he suggested Island Fish Company. My wife and I are celebrating our 30th Anniversary, and we absolutely love exploring places and trying local cuisines. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and drinks. First and foremost, it's hard to beat the Clam Chowders where I'm from, and I always have to sample others for validation. Admittedly, it's pretty damn tasty and I'd easily shell out some clams for this hearty cup of Chowda! After that, I went for the classic Surf n Turf with steak and Lobsta! Absolutely perfect. The steak was prepared how I requested it, and that buttery scrumptious chunk of crustacean tenderness hit the spot! The service was okay. Our server wasn't rude, but he also didn't seem very friendly or welcoming until he dropped off the check. It felt like the bare minimum rather than warm or attentive service. The outdoor seating by the water was the highlight of the visit. It was relaxing and made for a nice atmosphere. This definitely seems like more of a place to grab a drink and hang out than a spot for a great meal. The bathrooms are also very nice and spacious. For food, we started with the key lime baked oysters. They had potential but were smothered with too much cheese, which really overpowered the dish. I ordered the seafood lovers pasta and unfortunately it was a huge miss. It was honestly the worst pasta I've ever had. The noodles tasted bland and greasy, almost like they were coated in movie theater butter. I couldn't eat more than one bite and instantly regretted ordering it. My husband took over my dish, he didn't like it either but said it was edible. He ordered the coconut fried lobster sandwich, which was the best thing we tried. It was flaky, flavorful, and cooked well. For dessert, we shared the deep fried key lime pie. It was tasty, though I discovered I prefer the traditional version, but it was still fun to try something different. Overall, the setting was nice, but the food was very hit or miss and the service didn't stand out. This was a fun place to stop on our way south to Key West. We were on a hunt for lobster rolls since it was the start of mini lobster season. We had a warm lobster roll with butter in mind vs cold with mayo. i looked up this location before we arrived and was happy to find they were serving our dish. The parking was very easy in a large lot but seemed to be filling up fast. The atmosphere was "Keys inviting"with a large tiki hut covering the indoors, awnings and boats in the marina. It was a hot day with fans blowing cooler air above our table so it was pleasant enough. I noticed the gift shop, the very long bar and a good crowd of small and large families enjoying the last weeks of summer vacation. Our server brought drinks right away and the food came out fairly quickly. The lobster and drawn butter were seasoned which took away from the pure lobster and butter event..but it was very enjoyable and we had our fix. Price was MP and turned out to be higher than the average lobster roll at $36 each but as i said we were hungry, on vacation and committed to our mission. I noticed other reviewers were mentioning the higher price as well. I did not take the time to look over the menu so i am not sure of the prices in general. I would probably stop here again on a trip to the Keys and try another dish. After completing our mission we continued south to enjoy the rest of our day in Key West. read more

My wife and I stopped here for lunch after arriving in yhe Keys. We were seated immediately and our waitress (Emmalee) came right over to take our drink orders and answer questions. I had questions about the oysters since i had never tried them and she explained how to eat them and how to order. The oysters were very good and the sauce was also. There were multiple rooms including a bar with a live band. And it was on the water which was cool, but it was hard to see the water because of the covers on the windows. For the appetizer, we got the kaboom shrimp. I enjoyed it, it was very saucy and flavorful, came on a bed of chopped cabbage. I give it a 7.6/10. My only wish is that it was on white rice. I got the surf & turf for my entree. The filet mignon was insanely tender, literally melted in my mouth. The lobster was just as good. It came with whole potatoes and a side of green beans, cauliflower, and broccoli. I wish the potatoes were roasted and crispy instead of just boiled. 9.5/10. I also ordered the Mango Tango cocktail and it was a 10/10. If you hate the taste of alcohol like me, you'd love it because it genuinely tastes like juice but don't worry, you can still taste the alcohol. It snuck up. Regardless it was so refreshing. The conch Fritters were huge and tasty. We also tried their fish dip, which was good. My youngest son loved his Philly Cheesesteak, and my oldest got the Captain's Platter, which was decent, but maybe not worth the price. The Mahi Sandwich was also a solid choice. Island Fish Co is a wonderful restaurant, its HUGE, and has limited waterfront dining, but no matter where you sit the ambiance is great, the waitstaff are attentive and treat you like family. It is a wonderful place to watch the sunset, and to continue drinking into the night. They have all sorts of drinks, cocktails, seasonal drinks, and a wide selection of food, its not all just fish and seafood. We stop here and have a dinner every time we make a run down to the keys, which is several times a year. If you are staying or just passing through Marathon, this is a must go.
