We came here on a Sunday evening for dinner with friends. It was Sunday fun day so there were several people outside in the pool. We got seated at a table quickly inside. My husband and I took a walk around to check out everything. There's a nice big bar outside near the pool and the music was pumping. Looked like everyone was having a good time. We got a Picture in the Giant Adirondack chair that out in the parking lot near the pool area. We got there just a little early to catch the sunset. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. Really creamy and it had great flavor. I also had a cup of she crab soup which I enjoyed. My husband had their famous hogfish sandwich which he said was fine. He also had a cheeseburger because he could eat a cheeseburger every day. He said the fish sandwich won over. Sunset Grill Marathon For many years, I have enjoyed going to this restaurant because it's right on the water, it has a swimming pool and the food was good. However, we went yesterday mid afternoon, and the service was not good. Our waitress really didn't know the answer to questions and didn't say let me check. Two of us ordered french fries and one ordered coleslaw. All three of us ended up with french fries. Very cute, casual atmosphere on the water despite the heat but overall, the food was disappointing, drinks were terrible and service was even worse! Ordered a cocktail along with waters and a few appetizers (cheese curds, 2 HH shrimp apps, & HH Mahi tacos). Appetizers arrived at the table at the same time the drinks did (minus my water, which the waitress clearly forgot). Shrimp app was lukewarm disgusting mush (as if it had been kept soaking in once cold water for WAY too long) and literally disintegrated in my hands before I could peel it. I returned them after eating 2 out of the 12 shrimp ordered (again, 2 orders) and the server acted gracious yet she managed to comp only one order! The mahi taco had a good sized piece of meat but sadly, was also served lukewarm with next to no seasoning/flavor. Since this is a seafood/raw bar restaurant, it's especially sad that the chicken Alfredo may have been the best dish served. We had to stop the server to ask for refills on soft drinks/waters and weren't asked about purchasing another cocktail. Save your self the hassle! We ordered the conch fritters, but they were mostly breadcrumbs with very little conch. The conch chowder was more like a thick stew than a soup and also contained very little conch, with too many fillers. Even the drinks were watered down. What a gem this place is! The ambiance is perfect great view of sunset on the ocean. Jimmy Buffet songs playing in the background very relaxing. The food was amazing. My daughter, who is vegetarian, was pleasantly surprised to see an entire sushi menu and was able to order vegetarian sushi. Our onion rings were perfection crispy and flavorful. We ordered margs, one frozen and one on the rocks, both were delicious. I ordered blackened mahi and truffled mash with asparagus. The fish was a bit spicy for me but if you like the heat this is for you the fish was fresh cooked perfectly and tasty. Loved the mash potatoes! A huge positive for me was the food came to our table piping hot. For dessert we ordered key lime pie, it was good, but the star was the churros soooooo tasty! There's also a pool with a bar if you feel like swimming people were having a great time there. The reason I did not give 5 stars is the service wasn't great. We ate with the menus at our table the entire night and plates weren't cleared at the right time but perhaps it had been a long day for our waiter. I did like that we were not rushed to leave. The margaritas were particularly bad: weak, watery, and with almost no tequila flavor at all. A must do in the keys! Located right along the main road with a killer view of the 7 mile bridge, this place checks all the boxes. The food is okay, but happy hour during the Sunday funday is the time to come here. The service was a little slow, but the drinks were good! Being able to drink IN THE POOL that is free to use for paying customers is an awesome thing. There were a lot of kids in the pool, but it made for a very family friendly time. The happy hour menu prices were pretty good and comparable to others in the area. We didn't look at the regular menu, as we were just there for the pool and special Sunday menu. I visited on Sunday, with three friends, as we were heading back to Miami from the Key West/Lobsterfest. Sitting at the table, I started searching for reviews on the sushi menu but there were none. I did find one really bad review about a server named Darryl. Lo and behold, who steps up and introduces himself as our server. lol I did not say anything to him about the bad review cause I was looking for flaws. I have no idea what happened that prompted the young lady to leave such a bad review cause I was delighted with the service. The food was excellent, Darryl was so gracious and attentive, our drinks were Amazing! We sang along with the music coming from poolside dining. It took us over 20 minutes to get drinks after we were seated and at that $18 for a mixed drink is terrible. My order came out wrong however I chose to eat it. It was good but not what I ordered. That also happened to another person in our party of 4. They have a pool, which is really cool for kids, but I think they are short staffed and not well trained. I'll leave it at that. We came here twice and it did not get any better. It was a little better the first time, but it was on a weekday and we sat by the pool. We noticed this place on our way back from Key West. It sits on the north end of 7 mile bridge. We had a late lunch of She Crab bisque Crab Cake sandwich and a Mahi BLT with fries. Oh my lord the She Crab bisque was so creamy and full of lg. crab pieces. Better than I make. The Crab Cake sandwich was huge and very flavorful. The Mahi BLT was the best Mahi I've had in years. This was a great find for us in Marathon. We watched the sunset at the 7 mile bridge and noticed the restaurant across the street at the entrance to the bridge. It looked like a huge tiki bar with a pool and outdoor seating on the water. We were seated immediately as it was after sunset but still a nice crowd. Our server was pleasant and helpful.
