Summary: Yes - go here and eat; I recommend Irie Island Eats. 6 of us dined here on the morning of 12/31/2025. We loved our meal and were not disappointed finally trying something new. The service and ambiance were top-notch and we will definitely be back to try new things again. There is a small space inside to eat, if you'd like. Most of the seating is outside but under cover of leaf and canopy. In the back, there are more options for dining, such as a taco food truck and a BBQ pit. If you're not sure what you want, go up to the counter and grab a menu. There's a board with the menu on it, behind the register, but if you can't see it just go grab a menu. You won't be in line long - the process of ordering and paying is fast. And the girl behind the counter is helpful if you have questions about the menu. Be mindful the food is served to you at your table (you get a number after you order and then the server finds you). Everything is served in "to go" boxes. The cutlery is sturdy plastic ware. Definitely not a deal breaker - just be aware. We can't wait to go back! Thank you, Irie Island Eats, for something fresh and new in Marathon!

Lunch on the way to the Keys. Part jungle Tiki, part Hippie Village and fresh market and bakery. Food cooked in a little trailer, great selection all cooked fresh and delicious. Shredded Hawaii beef tacos and blackened swordfish with coconut rice and black beans. It's all mostly self service order at the counter pick up when your names called. It's antique place but you gotta find a table out of the sun or you will roast. Noise level is low because it's all basically outside so easy to have a conversation.

So much more than a food truck. It's just as casual and convenient as a food truck but is a tropical paradise with multiple shops and areas to enjoy. I came with a plan to order to-go but quickly decided to dine-in for the relaxed ambiance. (And yes, I love me some Florida roosters perched in trees.) Although the menu didn't state it, entrees come with two sides and a salad, so it was a lot of food. Fun variety of bbq, seafood, Caribbean and Asian fusion with tasty slaws and sauces. I got the shrimp / spare ribs combo with plantains, kimchee, and tropical salad. I probably wouldn't get spare ribs next time as it had more of a soy sauce flavor than I personally wanted... but I am definitely looking forward to a "next time"! Service was also extremely friendly, informative, and quick.

THE BEST FOOD TRUCK I'VE ATE FROM!!! I stopped on my drive down to the keys and will miss it every day. I went with the steak wrap special and bean salad. I couldn't recommend it more. It's located behind the market with tons of tables and couches everywhere. Just beware of the chickens because there is so many of them.

I enjoyed my meal from here so much that we came back after leaving the Keys. I went with the barbecue chicken quesadilla. This needs to be a permanent menu item!! It was absolutely amazing. The service is friendly too. Bonus points for the cool islandy atmosphere. We did have to wait a bit for the food, but we learned that you can order online or call and place an order. Definitely add this stop to your trip down to the Keys. You won't regret it.

Amazing local Keys spot owned and operated by locals, and serving local foods. We stopped in on our drive North out if the keys for a bite to eat, and were blown away by the atmosphere. Upon entering, you are immediately transported into a lush, tropical paradise. There are locally sources wares for sale up front, and then the bbq in back. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered from the food truck and were served very quickly. The food was out of this world. Someone told us they were on Diners Driveins and Dives, so be sure to check that out as well. They have salads, wraps, bowls, and a ton is appetizers. The hawaiian beef was incredible. Definitely a spot i will be hitting up every time im in marathon.

Everything about this place is so perfect! I call it the secret garden! We came here for an early dinner and were able to enjoy walking around the enchanting garden with roosters hanging around. The food truck in the back offers a daily-changing menu with absolutely delicious dishes, priced incredibly well. So kudos for that. The service is super friendly and the "island-laid -back" approach. We also shopped in the general store in the front which offers lots of essentials and gift items. This is one of my favorite places from day 1. Can't wait to return.

Came here the other day with my bf and it was a great experience. We ordered a couple of wraps and although it took a little time because they were busy, it was worth it. The food is so good and flavorful and the weather outside was perfect for our lunch date. We stopped by the market area on our way out and got some goodies to take home. The coffee brownie was delicious. The lychee ice cream was good.

Excellent spot for breakfast! The outdoor seating area is beautiful and serene, with plenty of fans to keep the space cool and comfortable. There is a great variety of seating options, including chairs, sofas, and benches, and even toys to keep little ones entertained. The service was wonderful. We ordered at the counter, and they brought our food right out to our table. Everything was fresh and delicious. I had the berry acai bowl with peanut butter, and my husband ordered the breakfast burrito--both were absolutely spectacular. This was such a perfect place to enjoy a relaxing breakfast before a long day of driving.

Great food - many gluten free options.

The food and service were spot on. I can't wait for my next trip to Key West. The bartender was extremely helpful -- they assisted my friend in choosing a great gluten-free option. Highly recommend!

What a treasure to find this spot on the drive to Key West (thank you, Yelpers!). We had a delicious lunch in comfortable outdoor seating. Order at the counter then wait for your name to be called -- easy as that. The "bowls" are generous in size -- I had the "tropical" style with coconut rice ($14) and key lime mahi mahi ($5 upcharge). Everything was fresh and delicious. Recommend and will be back!

There are two parts to this restaurant. The first is a breakfast and lunch place with pastries and desserts. They also Jamaican hand pies and fresh smoothies. They also have vegan ice cream and fresh fruit. I wish I would have known about this before I arrived. I would have eaten there. Their website says nothing about it. The other part is outside where you can get bowls, tacos, and other things described on their website. My bowl was excellent. Plenty of food for two people.

Pretty cool spot on the island! The environment is laid back and pretty chill with really easy seating and outdoor island vibes. Amazing place for breakfast and coffee! I had the açaí bowl and so worth it.

Outside seating area offers great views, but we took an inside table and the vibe was still awesome. Live music was great. Our server Zach was on the mark; checked on us frequently and took care of any requests quickly, and a very friendly dude. We tried: Sparky's Sunset and Coconut Margarita - both very good. Tuna tartare - the sesame sauce wasn't my favorite, but the tuna was fresh and tender. Coconut Shrimp - HUGE shrimp, nice toasty coconut crust, and the sweet chili sauce was a great compliment. 1/2 lb Peel and Eat Shrimp - these were served with butter, cocktail sauce, lemon, and a little cup of add-it-if-you-want cajun seasoning. I tried them all and loved the options. Bacon-wrapped Scallops - these were fantastic!! Super crunchy bacon on the outside, perfectly cooked scallops on the inside. Buffalo Chicken Wings - these had really good flavor, but the skins were a bit tough. Sparky's will be our very first stop on our next stay in the Keys.

The fish tacos had great flavor as did the chicken and waffles. The blackened grouper sandwich was a little bland and the crab cake Benedict could have done without the Canadian bacon. It's legitimately one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in the Florida Keys, which gives it a lot of built-in credibility before you even sit down. Walking up to it, you feel that history. The exterior, the gravel lot, the signage--it's pure roadside Keys. Inside, it leans into that "local bar meets tourist stop" vibe: long wooden bar, TVs, stickers everywhere, taps lined up. Then you open the menu and it pivots in every direction--New England chowder house, BBQ joint, burger shack, seafood spot. It's not clear what it wants to be, and that lack of focus carries straight through to the food. We started with both chowders. The clam chowder looks right at first glance, but the texture tells you everything--thick, almost gluey, clearly roux-heavy. The flavor leans aggressively fatty, closer to margarine than butter, with very little clam presence. No briny backbone, no pepper, no lift. We ended up dumping in black pepper and hot sauce just to make it remotely acceptable--but even then, that heavy fat note kept pushing through. Nothing about it reads as New England. The conch chowder fares a bit better. You can actually see a decent amount of conch, and there's a peppery edge that helps. But the broth is thin and lacks the chunky, stewed tomato depth you expect from a proper Keys-style conch chowder. After having it done right earlier at Key Largo Fisheries, the difference was obvious. Then there are the Texas Twinkies--and the photo really says it all. On paper, this should work: jalapeños wrapped in bacon, stuffed with brisket, pulled pork, cheeses, and sauce. In execution, it's just too much. Too much cream cheese, too many competing sauces, meats chopped into a soft, indistinct filling. It collapses into a heavy, muddy bite that feels more overwhelming than satisfying. Looking back at the menu, the simpler move--burger, ribs, even wings--probably would have been the right call. Instead, we ordered straight into the identity crisis. And that theory held up. We went back and grabbed a burger later--cooked a proper medium rare, with well-done, crispy fries--and it was easily the best thing we had from them. I wanted to like Herbie's. There's history, personality, and clearly a loyal following. But between the confused concept and uneven execution, the move here is simple: stick to the basics.
