The food was just pretty mid overall.. I think the steak tacos were just alright and the beans and rice were kinda ew... but the tacos were definitely edible! I wouldn't recommend the rice and beans if you're used to a traditional Mexican rice and refried beans.. the rice is yellow and beans are traditional black ones which at least for me I found disappointing, but it may have just been the culture of the restaurant. read more

This cute little food truck is just a short drive off of the main highway. The truck is nestled into an area with tropical foliage and some cute vacation cottages. There are a few tables for dining here, but we took our food to go. The server greeted me and took my order, and after about a 5-7 minute wait, I got my food to go. I ordered the daily special, which was 3 Al Pastor tacos and a drink. When I got to the hotel, I realized they had given us 3 fish tacos. They were still very good. Our other entree was a steak quesadilla, which was pretty good, but I had a couple of bites of gristle in the meat, which is a little off putting. The overall flavor was good. This was a nice find if you are looking for something good on the casual side. I had a fish and shrimp tacos - both delicious. My wife felt like the al pastor were the winners. The tiki bar that is connected with us was a nice bonus. Had the Al Pastor quesadillas and the crunch on the outside of the tortilla was amazing. I loved the pineapple which I wished there was more of. Husband had the Al Pastor Tacos which were pretty tiny, they were traditional street tacos and he could've had five instead of the three that came with the daily special. The tiki bar next door was a real surprise and knowing that this is surrounded by vacation rentals might stay there next time as it's so convenient for the outside bar. read more

La Isla Taco Grill is an awesome taco truck right outside of Tropical Cottages, not even 1/4 mile off of the main road. The food here was really great and the service was fast and friendly. They have a few tables you can sit at near the truck and there is an unrelated tiki bar just steps away that you could probably sit at if needed. We ordered the chicken quesadilla, steak nachos, chicken strips, and a fish taco. Everyone in the family enjoyed the food and it was fairly priced (around $13 each). If you're having issues finding it, just set your GPS for Tropical Cottages. Check out their hours because they do take a short break in the middle of the day. Definitely give this place a try if you're looking for a great food truck. read more

Our favorite (and most affordable!) taco in the keys! We stopped on the way up to Islamorada and loved it. They have plenty of seating behind the food truck with a full bar and bathroom. We got the pork and mahi tacos. Both were great and very fresh. Would definitely return. read more

Ok don't know where to start. Welp I stepped up to the window and ordered 2 burritos and a bottle of water and a jarrito. $34 not to bad service was they seemed bothered that I was there at 8:30p any who...we waited for the food and imagine a burrito the size of a hotdog wrapped so tight it looked like a cigar. It was tasty but the smallest taco I mean burrito I ever seen. Great for kids 7 and under as a bed time snack definitely not made for a guy that's 250lbs and hungry. Even my Pomeranian laughed at it. We got a few different taco types to try, fish, shrimp and al pastor, they were all excellent but the fish was best of the three. Nachos were also pretty good. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I just had to in this case. The good was that the tacos were okay and the atmosphere is attractive and nice (mostly) and the bathroom was clean. The bad, was that they have a $14 nachos that I wanted to get for my vegetarian son, but they said it would be the same price with or without meat, nothing could be done. Since we were driving a long way and it was getting late and my kids were starving I had to just go ahead with it anyway, but come on, is that reasonable? Later on in my trip I came across another place that couldn't adjust the price as well, but they offered to replace the meat with rice and beans or tofu, that was fine, but $14 for nachos without meat? The other reason I docked a star was this was the most weak watered down Horchata I've had in the last 12 months of ordering Horchata. Lastly, though understandably not in the complete control their cute outdoor area was swarming with flies to the point where we had to run to the car. read more

A great place for a casual taco Tuesday! We stopped here during our trip to the Keys for a quick dinner and enjoyed some delicious tacos! The fish tacos though were fantastic - some of the best I've had and I consider myself somewhat of a fish taco aficionado and am quite picky. Delicious! Friendly and fast efficient service!
