Breakfast Burrito, Grits, Hashbrown, Smoothies & Caffe!
    Cathy W.

On our return trip from Key West Tripadvisor let us hear for Cuban cuisine and we were not disappointed. Ample parking, a warm greeting and outstanding breakfast burritos, smoothies, and the perfect bowl of grits. Many wonderful choices for breakfast and lunch and everyone here has a smile on their face. Our server, Jeidy, checked on a several times, & made sure we had everything we needed for a delicious meal, including hot sauce. We highly recommend just a Paradise Cuban Restaurant!

    Lovely patio!

This place is amazing!! We road our bikes to Paradise several times during our visit to Marathon. Hayley's homemade bread comes out hot and fresh. Absolutely authentic Cuban coffee! The home potatoes are where it's at. And the proof is all the sweet and friendly Cuban grandmas who start their day, every morning on the patio. Oh! And don't miss the homemade ham and cheese empanadas. (My mouth is watering, remembering them.) The staff was so friendly and engaging - clearly proud of their incredible food. Well done, Paradise!

We had breakfast lunch and dinner there and it was amazing! Restaurant was local like, clean and the staff was very friendly! A must stop on your way to Key West or while youre in Marathon!!

    Cuban breakfast

Breakfast was wonderful. Sitting outside we got serenaded by birds. Mom and pop place. Richelle loved her Cuban Breakfast and dad loved his Cuban omelette. Both said the bread was fantastic, and the Cuban coffee was what they need to start their day. I had a Cuban frappe. Make sure to check out the tables inside, they have helpful translations between Cuban, Spanish and English. Two of my favorites: An older man who likes younger women, and they are not very good in bed.

Thank you to our friend Todd, who visits marathon often, for recommending this place. I had the pork sandwich and my friends had the cubano. These sandwiches are gigantic and so flavorful. The service was fast and everything was steaming hot. We all had fresh juice that was a perfect compliment. We are already planning to come back for breakfast tomorrow.

Best service and the most amazing Cuban coffee and sandwich! We stayed at the tranquilly bay resort and walked over! It's a must if you are in the area!

Cortadito was the best I have ever had!

We had breakfast and everything was amazing from the food to the service! Will definitely be back!

The Guarapo Has The Signature Sugar Cane Taste, And The Perfect Amount Of Sweetness. The Flancake Vanilla Is Absolutely Delicious. The Ensalada Fría Was Very Unique To Say The Least. Ensalada Fría Is Normaly A Bit More Sweet And Savory. But This Place's Ensalada Fría Is Sweet And Garlicky. But The Employees Are Super Nice. And The Ambiance Of The Restaurant Was Nice And Very Welcoming.

    Cuban is huge

If driving to Key West or back, this is a must stop. Has the most authentic Cuban sandwich in the Keys (real hot pork shoulder) did not skimp, fresh Cuban bread, melted Swiss cheese, and pressed. The beef empanadas did not disappoint either; they are as close to what grandma used to make...

    Café con leche

This little restaurant is one of the best Cuban restaurants down here in the keys. All the workers are super sweet and down to earth. We came in a big group of about 7 and they served all of us with a big smile. Definitely will come back!

Sweet service and delicious cafe con leche. Their empanadas make for a great snack if you are in a hurry, but they have a vast menu.

Stopped in here for breakfast and ordered at the bar; seafood omelette. Eggs was done well incorporating spinach; mushrooms and smoked salmon. Unfortunately no other fish options were available. I loved the vibe of this place - think tiki bar with a beachside vibe and setting but then also a BBQ joint thrown in for good measure. The menu is extensive - BBQ, seafood, sushi, bar food, tacos, etc. The menu is huge! The happy hour is pretty good too (speciality drinks for like $8 and decently priced app specials). One very cool thing, this place sits on a marina and my family saw manatees chilling out there. We literally were only a couple feet from them and watched them float around while we are out food. So cool. Live music is offered during most nights. Some advice, get here early because this place fills up fast! I think it is quite the haunt for locals and tourists alike. We would go here again in a heartbeat. The food was pretty good, portions were perfectly sized and prices were very reasonable, especially when compared to other places found in the Florida Keys.

It's legitimately one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in the Florida Keys, which gives it a lot of built-in credibility before you even sit down. Walking up to it, you feel that history. The exterior, the gravel lot, the signage--it's pure roadside Keys. Inside, it leans into that "local bar meets tourist stop" vibe: long wooden bar, TVs, stickers everywhere, taps lined up. Then you open the menu and it pivots in every direction--New England chowder house, BBQ joint, burger shack, seafood spot. It's not clear what it wants to be, and that lack of focus carries straight through to the food. We started with both chowders. The clam chowder looks right at first glance, but the texture tells you everything--thick, almost gluey, clearly roux-heavy. The flavor leans aggressively fatty, closer to margarine than butter, with very little clam presence. No briny backbone, no pepper, no lift. We ended up dumping in black pepper and hot sauce just to make it remotely acceptable--but even then, that heavy fat note kept pushing through. Nothing about it reads as New England. The conch chowder fares a bit better. You can actually see a decent amount of conch, and there's a peppery edge that helps. But the broth is thin and lacks the chunky, stewed tomato depth you expect from a proper Keys-style conch chowder. After having it done right earlier at Key Largo Fisheries, the difference was obvious. Then there are the Texas Twinkies--and the photo really says it all. On paper, this should work: jalapeños wrapped in bacon, stuffed with brisket, pulled pork, cheeses, and sauce. In execution, it's just too much. Too much cream cheese, too many competing sauces, meats chopped into a soft, indistinct filling. It collapses into a heavy, muddy bite that feels more overwhelming than satisfying. Looking back at the menu, the simpler move--burger, ribs, even wings--probably would have been the right call. Instead, we ordered straight into the identity crisis. And that theory held up. We went back and grabbed a burger later--cooked a proper medium rare, with well-done, crispy fries--and it was easily the best thing we had from them. I wanted to like Herbie's. There's history, personality, and clearly a loyal following. But between the confused concept and uneven execution, the move here is simple: stick to the basics.
